This is a refreshing Belgian ale with a nice color, aroma and flavor. Made by Brouwerij De Musketiers, the ones that make the awesome Troubadour Obscura. It has a nice copper almost transparent color. A decent head. It smells like peaches, apples, a hint of lemon. Medium carbonation and light body. Refreshing with some bitterness and a fruity but fancy flavor.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 9/19/2015. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a 2-3 finger dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head; amazing appearance. Aromas of big pear, apricot, apple, peach, grape, candi sugar, honey, bread, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big pear, apricot, apple, peach, grape, clove, pepper, honey, bread, candi sugar, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of pear, apricot, apple, peach, grape, honey, bread, candi sugar, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very excellent Belgian pale ale! All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast ester and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Appearance: Pours a cloudy honey color with a very fluffy head that leaves plenty of lacing down the side of the tulip

Smell: Shortbread and apples, with hints of spicy yeast phenols

Taste: Shortbread malt flavors dominate the front end, with the apple and spicy yeast elements arriving in the mid-palate; nicely balanced in the finish, with the apple elements building, in particular

Mouthfeel: Medium body with high carbonation; a bit creamy

Overall: Fairly straightforward, but a really nice example of the style; the balance in this beer is quite impressive

11.2oz bottle

A: Pours a hazy golden yellow with just under 3 fingers width of white head. Head has very good retention and leaves lots of pretty lacing rings.

S: Citrus, belgian yeast, spice, banana esters.

T: Spicy right from the start, peppery and a hint of clove. Some sweet citrus and bitterness to go along with the spice.

M/D: Medium body, carbonation very high (too high for my liking) which detracts from the smoothness and drinkability.

O: Overall, pretty good but not great. Worth checking out if you enjoy the style.

Pours a clouded lighter brown color. Were it not for the chunky off-white head I would believe it was a glass of unfiltered apple cider. The head has good retention and leaves some decent lacing.
Smell is malty with light fruits, mainly green grapes and pears, a yeast/biscuit note and an ephemeral hop note. The alcohol is noticeable but far from strong. Good balance.
Taste is malt, the same fruits, alcohol, slight yeast and somewhat more hops presence. Balance is pretty solid.
Warming nearly from the start, slightly drying as well with an unexpectedly clean finish. Aftertaste has a slight tortilla chip aspect to it as well. Altogether, a really nice beer. Not a standout but a very solid example.

11.2 ounce bottle decanted into an oversized snifter. 6.8% ABV.
Appearance: This has got to be one of the longest lasting heads that I’ve ever seen. When I first decanted it was about a finger deep, and it never really went away. Towards the end it thinned out some, but the surface was never anything but white. Incredible lacing down the sides of the glass. The body is a rich, murky tan (4/5).
Aroma: My first impression immediately following the pour was very bready, almost like pizza dough. But that cleared out relatively quickly and was replaced by the aroma of fresh pressed cider. As the beer warmed the malt came in, and blended nicely with the apples (4.5/5).
Taste: Toffee and pressed apples. A little peppery. I catch a whisper of Saaz-like bitterness on the back end, but it’s very reserved. Slightly sweet, and finishes surprisingly clean (4.25/5).
Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation. A touch of astringency that feels like it may have come from the grain husks (4.25/5).
Overall: I would highly recommend this Belgian Pale Ale. Definitely one of the best I’ve had. Between the bready malt, and the fresh cider taste, it was the perfect pint for fall (4.25/5).
