Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: birchstick on 09-21-2011

This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

A blend of a Belgian style dubbel and a Flemish brown ale, fermented with raspberries. Dark malt and cereal notes are characteristic of the dubbel, while the vinous, acidic elements come from the Flemish. Complex, tart and refreshing, a fruit beer, for beer drinkers.

A Belgian Dubbel - Flemish Ale

A - pours a reddish brown color, more red than brown, with a small white ring of a head

S - nose is rather subtle with hints of raspberries and sugary malts

T - starts with sweet raspberries. These fade to some sugary dark fruits from the Dubbel blended in. Next up are some cereal malts with a hint of toasted malt. Ends with a sugary semi-tart raspberry with a touch of citrus. All of these flavors blend together to make an easy drinking, rather undertoned beer.

M - medium body that goes down with a nice amount of carbonation

D - pretty decent beer. I really like the Dubbel and Flanders blend concept and think it was executed well, however it wasn't the most memorable beer I have tried. Definitely worth a shot.
