Stopped in for a quick beer while watching some NBA playoffs. From what our waitress told us this is a saison aged in a local winery's spent barrels.
Pours light orange/red with a small off-white head. Decent lacing.
Very funky musty smell with some white wine notes and some caramel malts.
Interesting taste profile. Has just enough sourness to make it pop, but is more of a funky/musty bug profile. Base beer appears to have some caramel sweetness to it which is a nice contrast. Not sure exactly what wine barrels this was in, but it was obviously white wine and from what I would guess from the somewhat buttery tones, Chardonnay.
Medium mouthfeel with ample carbonation.
Very nice beer and glad to see a brewery that does unique stuff. Had no idea what to expect when I went in, but ended up enjoying this and my overall experience a lot.
