Jack Straw brewed by Fat Head's Brewery & Saloon, with an ABV of 5.2% This brew pours out a nice golden amber color with a nice white head. The smell of Jack Straw is is grains ,malts, and a hit of hops. Not much to the smell of this brew, not saying that is a bad thing. Now for the taste it is bitter, but smooth. I like how Jack Straw is different from most brews on the market. There is a strong bitterness at first but the end is smooth and rich. Jack Straw has a nice balance to it, there is nothing overpowering about this brew. The mouthfeel of Jack Straw bold, rich , and refreshing. Overall I'm giving Jack Straw a 4.25 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Fat Head's Brewery & Saloon did a nice job with this brew.

Absolutely dialed in, well done Fat Heads ! From the appearance to the aromas, feel and taste this is a true pilsener at it's finest. Already known for their world class hoppy beers, in my opinion, Fat heads brews some of the best representations of lager styles that can be had. And since The Wright Pils is out for the season this'll be my go to.

Jack Straw - Fat Head's Brewery & Saloon. Poured from the bottle into a glass, this brew's head is two fingers thick and soapy, with scant lacing, and a golden clear body.

I smell bright and lively grains and malts. A slight citrus zip showed up towards the end for me. Not too much hops in the smell here.

Tastes like a mild touch of hops, along with the livelier grains mentioned above. Nice and smooth balance to this drink. I can see why this would be a good choice after being out on hot weather..

This beer's mouthfeel is clean and smooth. A very good job done here when it comes to refreshing and going down easy.

Overall,I'll give Jack Straw - Fat Head's Brewery & Saloon a 4.25. I'd grab this again on a stifling day for sure.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a straw color with nice clarity; fluffy eggshell white head that leaves nice retention and lacing. The aromas are nice. Sweet malts are there with some corn. Subtle pear notes. The flavors are nice too and follow the nose. Solid bitterness, but it's not over the top. More pear. Some black pepper in the mix. Some fresh grass too. Mouthful has active carbonation and it's slightly creamy. Alcohol goes unnoticed and it finishes clean.

This is a nice pilsener. They stay true to style, which is cool. I like it.

As advertised when poured into pilsner glass. Transparent straw gold with a fluffy bright white head that has great retention. Lots of lacing.

Smells like fresh grains, sweet, and slightly skunky.

Definitely taste plenty of sweet malt right off the bat, then a nice hop bitterness works it's way in. Grassy with a bit of a black pepper bite at the end.

Fairly full bodied for a 5% brew. Carbination seems about right. Very easy drinking.

Fat Heads just crushed this! I am going to make it a point to revisit some pilz to make sure I am not scoring it too low. I immediately want to go out and buy a case.

At first I was very surprised at the ratings. Then I remembered that most people dont really dig lagers. This one is outstanding, so you better give it a ride.

LOOK: Clear medium straw yellow color with an impressive soapy head that retains the duration of the drinking experience. Lacing is left from this well hopped Czech Pilsner.

SMELL: Noble hops, pine, pungent herb, bread, buttermilk biscuit. Just a kiss of alcohol and malt round out the nose.

TASTE: A crisp, quite bitter brew and uber clean. Bread and cracker like yeast and malt notes extenuate the use of a lager yeast strain. Just a nearly flawless take on the style yet keeping the hops distinct and highlighted like in many offerings from this great brewery. Faint unripe grapefruit peel, more pine, biscuity malts and alcohol are present in the taste just like in the nose. This is a bitter pilsner and its awesome.

FEEL: Light to medium bodied, crisp, and great carbonation. Though refreshing, crisp and on the light side, this still has ample body for the style.

OVERALL: Drinkable, refreshing and satisfying Pils that stands up to world class examples of the style, if not overshadowing them all completely. Jack Straw is a damn fine pilsner.

Nice look - grassy and hoppy smell - flavor profile is grassy and peppery with a nice hop finish. A good representation of the style.

This is a really good pilsener. I don't often want a pilsener, but when I do, it helps to have a really good one. This one is outstanding.

It is gorgeous in the glass. It has a puffy, creamy head, nice bubbles that keep coming, it is clear and just as it should be. The aroma is weak, but slightly hoppy and malty.

The taste is nice and bitter, hoppy, but not dry. There is a slight malt and yeast taste - very slight. It leaves a bitter aftertaste.

This is what a pilsener should be. Fat Heads once again proves they know how to do it.

Golden colored pils with a fluffy head and really impressive lacing. Taste is true to the style-very refreshing. I don't drink a lot of pils but I could throw these back on a hot summer day with ease. Very nice and recommended.

Honey blonde color. Head is short, but persistent.

Pils malt base in the aroma with some lemony and peach notes. Still, a bitter nose with some hop evidenced. On the gritty side.

More bitterness. Generically flavored for a kolsch. Lemony esters is not as bright as is typical. Grassiness has an astringency that might be pushed to that brink because of added hops. Missing delicateness. Body is light-medium. Carbonation is medium-high. Not as authentic as I could hope for.

Look - One of the brightest yellow beers I have seen. Very clear. White medium head with retention.

Smell - Grass. Urine. Light hop.

Taste - Flavorful pilsener. Very grassy and malty.

Feel - Very carbonated. Heavy for a pilsener.

Overall - If you want a pilsener that doesn't taste like water, this it it. A little extra ABV goes a long way with this one.
