Purchased at my local spirits shop in Tampa, FL. $12.99 for the 4-pk, outrageous! Btld 3/10/15, drunk 4/13/15.

Pours a murky yella-amber. Mango, passionfruit, grapefruit pith, and other lush, juicy tropical and citrus notes... sour peach, granny smith apple, I could go on and on. A much more subdued flavor profile when compared to the nose: spicy piney/resinous notes accompany some fruity-tartness with lingering bitter pine and apricot/peach skin. Comparable to Racer 5, but not quite a syrupy sweet, which I like, much more drinkable than the likes. 8.93/10

What she said: "Better than the other IPAs you like... milder." 6/10

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden/orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell is bursting with grapefruit. Taste is very hoppy, grapefruit, pine, tropical fruits, bitter and dry. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a very good beer.

12 oz bottled on 2/18/2015 poured into an IPA glass.

A - clear golden orange with a fluffy one and a half finger head. Visible active bubbling.

S - It says resin on the label, and it is resinous. Grapefruit, sea salt/onion, maybe a touch of pine.

T - The hops come through direct. You do get some notes of citrus and pineapple on the back of the tongue, but the hops are in charge. There is enough malt balance to keep it from being overly one-sided.

M - The mouthfeel is solid, medium carbonation and a slightly creamy, if bitter, finish.

O - Not available locally, wished I picked up a few more to take back from Ohio. Recommended IPA.

Well, this took too long....

I've been reading beer adv. for years. Stealing and gleaning info. Free info. is often misleading when were talking the palate. Obviously, it can differ greatly but some common themes will exist.

Now the beer. Well what do I say. I've probably reviewed and drank a thousand ipa's. So I expect greatness. Having truly started beerhunting in the great lakes region I'm greatly biased. This beer is reminiscent of two hearted, when two hearted was brewed in much smaller batches by Mr. Larry Bell. A great whiff of dank hops perfectly timed in the brewing process. But then again I ponder Great lakes brewing and how well dortmunder gold was-malty and beatufllly neither under or over hopped. Again, smaller batches less popularity. That is where I see fat heads. Another great Midwest brewery taking special attention to each batch. Superior ingredients.. Done with a nod to the weather and shipments good or bad. A great ipa. But nothing new. Just well done small batch brewing. The way it should be done.

I hear that in Germany their are still many microbrews. Thank god we are trying to keep things small. But at a price. At three dollars a bottle, I almost feel like a good looking barmaid should be bringing this my way..

Worth seeking out. But chances are some sort of great ale project exists in your backyard to sample as well.

Over and out, Big Ed hunkered down in SW Ohio. Once home to the brewing mecca of this sad to say faltering country.

Great west coast style beer. Can taste the chinook. centennial and cascade hops. Not sure of the exact variety but they did a good job balancing with the hops.

Mangos, Pineapple, Oranges and a balanced malt backbone that equals the hops.

A West Coast IPA that would fly off the shelves if actualy distrbuted in the west coast / CA.

Well Done Ohio. Once again, I'll say it...More impressed with you than Vermont.

Cheers!

Lots of citrus and grapefruit flavours in this tasty ipa. Surprisingly refreshing considering the 86 ibu. On tap at Fat Heads Sah Side.

First Fat Head that I've been able to get my hands on thus far.

Poured a robust golden color, not particularly hazy or cloudy.

Smell was out of this world. Grapefruit coming out of the woodwork. Other citrus flavors were mixed in there as well. Clearly well hopped with a variety of strands.

Lots of citrus in the taste. Given the amount of hops in the nose, i was expecting a harsher taste, but I was pleasantly surprised. The one downside was that the flavors were a bit muddled together and less layered than I hoped.

Feel was very smooth and drinkable. I was surprised when I saw it had an ABV of 7.5

Overall: would absolutely drink again. I describe it as hop juice. Would love to get my hands on a Hop Juju now

First Fat Head's brew in my portfolio. Hop explosion for sure. Beautiful golden color. Lots a of different tastes going on here. Every sip brings out something new. Pine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, floral notes, lemongrass and other subtle tropical flavors. Dry hop finish and nice carbonation. Definitely a party in your mouth. Great IPA. Looking forward to trying some other Fat Head's offerings.

Spotted this at Whole Foods. Bottled on 1/7/15, tried on 2/23/15. Well, this one suprised me. Hop bomb for sure. Very light malt presence. Hops more pine, floral then anything else. Glad i was able to try this.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip

A. Pours a mostly transparent amber color with a 2 finger foamy cream colored head. Hieroglyph lacing around glass.

S. Floral, tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, banana, strawberry. Some pine.

T. Sweet bready malts. Pine, pineapple and nice bitterness. Grassy aftertatse.

M. Body is a 4 out of 10 in thickness. Nice carbonation that stays on the tongue after the swallow for a second.

A nice IPA. Was fortunate enough to get this is a trade. Nice pickup if it's locally in stores around you but if not you can find something just as good. Daisy Cutter would be comparable.

Great every day IPA. Very dry, hop forward beer with bitter after taste. Grapefruit, pineapple, and pine come through on the aroma and taste. Its balanced with pleasant mouth feel.

Bottle was a few months old (12/24/14). Still tasted great. Probably would have been rated higher if it was fresh. Had it on tap a few weeks ago and it was amazing.

Bright, clear golden color. Pleasant citrus aromas gave way to a palate impression that was dominated by a bitter hop essence, yet did not seem to be out of balance despite a relative lack of accompanying malt qualities. An excellent IPA that would be a fine choice for everyday drinking.

Looks are deceiving as this has the appearance of a common IPA, but as you quaff the aromas from the hops your expectations increase. If you like a huge hop mouthfeel and body in your IPA you can't go wrong with the Headhunter, especially on draft.
