Reviewed this blind, thanks to abraxel...

A: Pours a great translucent crisp gols with one finger of pure white head, The foam takes a bit to settle and there is a ton of lacing left on the glass as it drinks.

S: The nose is big pine, a good helping of citrus, and there is some underlying malty sweetness.

T: Sweet to start, but the hops kick in huge right after. I get a lot of pine with some over the top bitters. This beer moves more towards the citrus end of the spectrum as it reaches the middle. The finish is back to some malty sweetness, but the bitters linger on the palate for some time. Very nice.

M: Medium bodied beer. It's sweet to start, bitter in the middle and then the hops tend to linger for quite a bit. All in all, this is a very drinkable beer.

O: Very nice beer. The flavors are bright and refreshing. I'd drink this beer again. Solid.

Another top notch IPA in an already crowded field. This one is as good as any I suppose; when beer is of this quality it's more a case of what mood are you in today rather than one being "better" than another.

Pours lightly hazed, golden orange, with a finger of slowly settling white head and nice lacing. Aroma is super fresh and citrusy, with lots of grapefruit in front and piney hops following. Little in the way of maltiness, just a lot of fresh fruit in your face.

Taste follows closely; again this is a citrus, grapefruit-first hop bomb with secondary pine characteristics; a very mild sweetness and biscuity caramel malt backbone that stays well on the sidelines and just props the hops up. Finish is dry, with lingering hoppy flavors and not too much aggressive bitterness scathing the palate. Really easy to drink, delicious, and full of hop nuances without being overly bitter.

Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth feel, right on out of the bottle. So fresh and so clean, indeed, this one is a winner.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Hunahpu snifter.

Appearance - Deep orange and mostly clear. Nice white head and excellent lacing. Clouds of bubbles meander about the surface.

Smell - Nice intense hop aroma. Big mango and citrus. A little bit of the malt comes through, but just slightly sweet.

Taste - More of the mango and tropical fruit hop flavor, but it switches to a more bitter hop profile quickly. The sweetness fades as well. Becomes a grapefruit pith flavor in the back and gets a little strong.

Mouthfeel - It's got a very nice body. It's medium bodied and the perfect malt level for an intensely hoppy IPA. It's just too bitter to be great,

Overall - It's really nice. Yes, it's too bitter, but it's a small fraction of the total experience, which is excellent.

Thanks to Eric aka spoolinvw for giving me a fresh bottle of Head Hunter. I have always had terrible luck trying to find fresh bottles of this one, glad to finally try the real deal.

A - Pours clear golden orange with a nice one finger tall white head leaving light lace down parts of the glass.

S - Smells of pungent citric hops, grass, tropical fruits - mostly grapefruit and oranges - pine resin and only the faintest hint of caramel sweetness. This one has once intense nose to it.

T - Starts off with a ton of bright citric hop bitterness mixed with some juicy grapefruit tartness slowly giving way to hints of pine resin, grass and some mild caramel sweetness. Finish is fairly bitter, lingering on the palate for quite awhile after the finish.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, oily feel with a ton of bitterness from start to finish.

O - This is one awesome IPA. I could drink a few of these no problem. When fresh this is definitely one of the better IPA's on the market today.

Thanks to CaptCleveland for sending me *fresh* bottles of this brew that's been on my wants list for a while. Some other traders could learn things from Mr. Cleveland & sending fresh IPAs in trades...you know who you are. 12 oz. bottle.

Pour is orange with plenty of ozone in the sunset, not clear, but uniformly hazy. Industrial-scale tropical fruits split the fifth sense; terrifyingly sweet. And by terrifying I mean lovely, since I love sweet. Citrus trickles underneath.

Head Hunter is a fascinating IPA. Huge notes of orange, mango, grapefruit run full-speed into an iron wall of citrus, pine, & resiny bitterness. Though it's hard to concentrate with all the pleasure coursing through my veins, bits of caramel & herbs nips here & there. The fruity notes keep the bitterness from peaking too far, but at the same time, the hops hang around for overtime. Damn. Slurp. Slurp. Ahhh.

I am glad to have finally found out what the fuss is about, because this is a straight-up excellent IPA. Thanks again, Dan, happy to have a few more of these around. For a very short period of time.

Bottle poured into a Three Floyds teku.

Pour: Clear amber orange with three fingers of off white head. Head hangs around, and leaves nice lacing.

Smell: Big citrus notes - some tangerine and orange juice. Pretty hefty caramel backbone to support.

Taste: Follows the nose for sure, with some pine mixed in as well. Malt sweetness is larger than I expected. Nice juiciness, and finishes with a resinous bitterness

Mouthfeel: Pretty sticky, and not incredibly drinkable. Fruit notes make this one nice and juicy.

Overall: Very nice IPA.
