Reviewed during the last week when out of service area/Wifi in WY/UT. Full phone notes taken at the Watchman Campground, Zion National Park, UT.

A- Stubby 12oz bottle poured into a chalice with a yellow body and some yeast haze unsettles as its poured. A cap crowns the beer with a frothy foamy texture and fair retention. A ring remains depositing small sheets and spots of lacing.

S- Hops burst out of the bottle after I open iingand from the glass as I pour. Strong notes of grapefruit, citrus, lemon and tangerine with hints of melon, floral and pine. Some grainy malts in the backdrop.

T- The pine certainly shifts closer to the strong side of things but the main players are still citrus and stone fruit. It is not a juicy fruit bomb as the bitter pine and zesty citrus hops provide an edge. Notes of grapefruit, orange, strong bitter lemon peel, melon, dank, floral and resinous hops. Light pale cracked grains and sweetness provide a pedestal for the hops.

MF- Moderately thick body with a creamy and foamy texture that isn't chewy but some good puffiness forms on the palate. Carbonation is high with a nice crisp touch that accentuates the medium high bitter finish.

This is my second bottle of this beer and I am glad I reviewed this one. The aggressive citrus hops are dominant but layers of other hop notes mix in nicely. This shows that modern IPAs dont jusy have to be a hop fruit juice. Packs a nice punch but delivers waves of flavor.

12 oz shorty brown bottle. Label consists of literally of a bright blue sky with clouds forming and the typical but great Fat Head sitting directly in the middle of the label. His style this time is of a tribal head hunter. Face paint, piercings, shades and all. Just more fun artwork from Fat Heads. Poured into a nonic pint glass.

A - fairly clear amber gold with bright golden highlights in the light. I say clear, but look close and see the tiny specs of haze particles moving about. Minimal but there. Bright white head forms nice on the pour settling to a bubbly yet clumpy ring of lacing leaving thin but plentiful stick.

S - big tropical fruit in the nose. Absolutely gushes the nose with sweet pineapple and mango goodies flowing into a kick of grapefruit, orange and pine resin. Sweet malt and slightly bready undertones lay off a complex yet very balanced nose.

T - this displays big time bitterness in the flavor profile. Suddenly those lush sweet tropical notes found in the nose turn to more grapefruit and pine resin. Like a grenade packed full of explosive bitterness going off in your mouth. Some slight pineapple toward the finish with the malt backbone turned nearly completely down. Spme floral notes and boozy alcohol spice as this warms. This is a hop heads flavor profile where the nose is more a balancing act. If you like sturdy, resinous pine and grapefruit bitterness in the mouth this is for you.

M - nice medium to full bodied with a good mouthfeel. Not quite as thick as the aroma would suggest maybe, but still near perfect for what they were aiming for with big bitter flavors and a more west coast feel. Coats very well and still comes off to me as refreshing on this humid summer night.

O - Head Hunter is a world class brew no doubt. It has me blown away with its aroma and yet even after turning into a completely different take through the flavor profile it still produces some fine results all the way around. Fat Heads brew some very good stuff and Head Hunter is up there with the best of them. A great year round offering but must be enjoyed fresh. It took me awhile to find it fresh, but drinking a few of these less than 2 weeks old really made the wait worthwhile. A must try! And one ill enjoy again.
