L: A dull Golden amber appearance (yellowish/orange)
S: Smells of grapefruit, pretty light though
T: Tastes like a normal IPA, bitter, with a nice jolt of grapefruit/citrus
F: This beer is extremely light while drinking it, but leaves you with the dry-ish feeling IPAs generally give you.
Overall: A good IPA in my book, I can check this off my bucket list for it being one of Ohio's top 10, but not my favorite IPA so far.

L: Translucent yellow-orange.

S: Big fruit profile. Smells of zesty oranges, kumquat, and pineapple.

T: Hop forward, citrus continues, but there's a noticeablly piney hop feel. Definitely hopped to death, you either love it or hate it. Carmel malt makes a slight peek out from behind the hops. Alcohol present in the finish, but just barely. Finish is semi-dry with that resiny hoppy aftertaste lasting long after your swallow.

F: Carbonation is moderate. Mouthfeel is a little lighter than the aroma leads you to believe it is, but it fits the style.

O: A delightful and somewhat memorable IPA. Reminds me of a less balanced Big Nose, or maybe 90-minute? I'd seek something with a bigger malt backbone in my everyday IPA. But I would gladly drink this over the majority of the swill out there. Very good, aroma is there and the West Coast pine is killing it.

Look is amazing. Smell is attractive. Initial taste is of kumquats and figs. Pretty good overall taste but noticeable alcohol taste.

Had this on tap at the pint room. Color was an almost transparent golden yellow, very light for an ipa. Some good lacing, white head. Aroma and flavor were all citrus, aroma was a little light considering the flavor. Solid taste. Mouthfeel is a bit harsh, even for an IPA with this much booze. Good, maybe a touch overrated.

Drank in my damn house! 12 oz bottle in my HF chalice. Date tough to read, but just received in a trade, and dude shipped fresh, so I'm guessing no older than a month.

L- Amber pour, semi transparent and pretty, small 1/2 cm head, lacing along the glass.
S- Dankness, grapefruit and other citrusy, hoppy and punchy (hopefully soon I'll be better to identify the types), but just fresh and good.
T- Citrus punch! Grapefruit and orange, but touch of sweetness. Really nice.
F- Great mouthfeel, bit sticky on the swirl. Nice carb but thick enough to linger.
O- Overall a fantastic beer. Can't imagine what it's like a few weeks ago, or on tap. Really really nice, and will seek out again.

This is a high quality workhorse IPA. Smells great when fresh, and even when it's not super fresh, has a very pleasant resiny, grapefruit taste. Dry finish with some spicy carbonation.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours slightly hazy golden orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a nice layer and laces beautifully.

S: Citrus, grapefruit, lemon, tropical fruit, mango, pine, faint dank notes, and light caramel malt.

T: Big citrus, lemon and grapefruit, resinous pine, light tropical fruit, mango and maybe passion fruit, a little herbal dankness but just enough to give another layer, with some bready malt and just enough light caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Very drinkable.

O: My bottle wasn't super fresh, but there was still a ton of hoppy goodness remaining. I can only imagine what this is like fresh. Damn good IPA. Really happy my friend was able to sneak one out to me.

Oh yeah, that's a fruity IPA. Not a fan of $12 for a four pack, but this one is worth it. Not often that I find a memorable IPA these days, but this was one. Highly recommended

12oz bottle, pretty old (3 months) into a snifter

L - pours slightly hazy orange wit ha touch of amber. Fluffy white 1 inch head to heavy lacing
S - Old school pine, citrus rind and a slight earthy dank
T - Big pine and grapefruit up front. Smooth sweetness and balance. Firmly bitter finish
F - Fantastic fine carb and silky smooth body

Overall this is a perfect IPA - great malt balance, classic hop profile and silky smooth. Totally poundable, but dangerously drinkable given the ABV. Please start distro in Illinois!!

Poured cold into a tulip glass. Consumed on 8/10/14, bottled less than a month ago.
Look = 4.0 Pours a mostly clear golden orange color with 2.5 fingers of dense frothy head that fades to a cap. Great Lace, no bubbles on pour.
Aroma = 4.5 Hops forward big time. Citrus/tropical and pine notes dominate. Very fresh and intense aroma.
Taste = 4.5 Follows the nose; big citrus and tropical fruit hops with pine coming in later. A significant bitter bite on the finish that sticks around in the aftertaste. Balanced on a sweet bready malt backbone, but fresh hops all the way through.
Feel = 4.0 Light to medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation. Resiny as the bitter after taste sticks around for quite awhile. A little thin for my tastes but refreshing.
Drinkability = 4.0 Refreshing at 7.5% ABV but the bitterness detracts from the drinkability a little bit.
Overall = 4.3 Top of the line IPA; Solid in all categories but sines in the extreme hop aroma and taste.

Woah Midwest! Kinda crazy how this brewery is overlooked outside the state. Aggressive west coast style with bittersweet pineapple and grapefruit stealing the show. Not balanced in the least yet it is not bitter for bitterness sake. Great carbonation with a dry crisp finish. Very drinkable for the Abv Ibu combo going on. This is the best IPA I have had in some time. Can't believe this is their year round offering. Wish it came is 6packs though. Kudos Fat Heads!

This is a very good IPA. The best I've had out of Ohio. Not quite the level of some of the IPA's out of the northeast or some of Stone's better IPA, but just a couple steps behind.

This one deserves its lofty reputation. I am an IPA fan and I can say this is one of the top 5 I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. It hits all the notes you want in a great IPA squarely on the nose. Very impressed.

L: looks like an IPA. Nice head, and good lacing.
S: strong hops aroma.
T: very piney and hops forward.
F: crisp and light.
O: excellent IPA. 87 IBU, so it's on the bitter side. West coast style at it's best. I like this beer a lot.

Thanks Phil for the hookup! 12 oz bottle dated 6/19/15 poured into a Tree House Teku glass

Look: Nice hue halfway between golden & amber

Smell: Faint pineapple/coconut nose, not very powerful but a pine forest pops up at the end.

Taste: Piney/resinous hops, that pineapple/coconut/alcohol flavor much like the smell, hovers in the background.

Feel: Very sharp and hot, definitely comes across as a double IPA in this respect.

Overall: Not quite my current cup of tea - this would have been directly in my wheelhouse 4-5 years ago. In any case, very good for the style and almost reminds me of a Sixpoint Resin clone at about 2% less abv.

Pours a deep golden color. Has a huge aroma of citrus piny hops. Has a big flavor of citrus with an almost resin pony taste. A nice touch of malt to balance and a pleasant hoppy aftertaste. Great beer

Pours hazy amber-orange with a moderate white head that retreated fairly quickly but left nice tracks. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, orange. Taste is cleanly bitter, with more citrus and some resin, slightly dank. Little malt but medium-bodied with a great feel. Clean dry finish with a bitter ring. Love this IPA.

Enjoyed on tap and in bottles several times during a week long trip to the Pittsburgh area.

Bold, flavorful and super tasty IPA. Blasting with hoppy goodness. World class and so worth seeking out. In a world of hundreds of quality IPAs, this one is able to stand out and be considered one of the best ...go get some - wish I had brought more home with me

look and smell are nothing special

A flavorful brew for sure. To me this packs more punch than some double IPAs. More bitter than most but not in a bad way. Sweetness is a bit above average. Also get some booziness from this one. Not super fruity but if I had to pick a I would say grapefruit is most noticeable. Overall, I think that their description of the beer being "uncivilized"is accurate in its own right.

Poured into a pint glass from a 12-oz brown bottle with a bottled-on date of 15 days ago. Hit with aggressive hop aromas immediately upon pouring. Taste is big, piney hops. There is some citrus flavor, but it wasn't as apparent for me as others had said. The aftertaste is extremely bitter, almost to a fault. All in all though, this is a very well done IPA.

Received this in a trade this weekend. However, it is being poured at about a month and a half after the bottled date. There doesn't seem to be as much of the great citrus flavor I read about. A A little more malt/bread flavor than expected.

With that being said, I do believe this is a fantastic IPA. Having drank it a month + old, I still really enjoyed it. I will certainly try to trade for this again, and re-review

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light messy lacing sticking and then sliding down into the beer.
The smell started off with bitter fresh pine with a nice citrus blend and then some light caramel malts to balance.
The taste was bittersweet thoroughly. It balances nicely between the malts and the hops. A nice bittersweet citrus aftertaste leads into the finish.
The mouthfeel had a great sessionability and sat about a light to medium on the body. Carbonation runs somewhat light enough to allow the bitterness to take full effect.
Overall, I see the hype behind this beer and am super thrilled that I got to try it and am taking some back to ID with me.

A: [4.00] Pours a light copper to golden color. The beer has a small 1/4 - 1/2 finger of white head. The head is not long lasting. The bottle lists the ABV (7/5%). The is a date code that I cannot figure out.

S: [4.25] Really nice pineapple smell. Also light citrus.

T: [4.25] The taste slightly follows the nose but then deviates. There are still pinapple and citrus flavors. They are subsumed by a nice malty middle. The maltiness has a bready flavor. The malt gives way to a slightly bitter finish.

M: [4.00] The beer is smooth and has a nice mouthfeel. There is a slight pucker factor from the bittering on the finish. It is very welcome for the style.

O: [4.25] I feel pretty good. I did not read the commercial description first and I basically nailed it (pineapple and citrus). Maybe not that great a feat - but I got what they intended. That being said. This is a really solid IPA. Bold fruity flavors - nice and juicy. There is a solid malt backbone to give some bready body to the middle then the bitter finish. The bitter does not linger it is nice and short. Overall this is a really good representation of the style.

Consumed May 29th, 2016 from a 12 ounce bottle with a smeared date code. It looks like April 2016. Poured into one of those fancy Sierra Nevada IPA glasses.

The beer is a clear honey color with a hint of orange. Plentiful carbonation. A creamy two-finger white head erupts and sticks to the sides of the glass all the way down.

Aroma was weird for the first few moments - garbage and sweatsocks. Agh! After a few moments, it changed completely to citrus fruit rinds and earthy pine.

Flavor is somewhat sweet at first, but then segues into sweet citrus peel and resiny pine. The descriptor "dank" may be overused, but there is an herbal , moist, sap quality to the flavor that fits the word perfectly.

Mouthfeel is lively with carbonation and then dry and light on the finish, with a long-lasting, agreeable bitterness with the slightest amount of parch.

A real joy to drink and a fantastic IPA.

Poured from bottle into tulip glass.

A dark golden amber with a two-finger off white head that looks deliciously spongy. Leaves lacing even with frequent swirling. This is a really pretty beer.

The nose is full: floral, citrus and biscuit aromas fill the glass. A beautiful bouquet of tangerine and grapefruit pave the way for caramel and biscuity malt.

Taste follows smell: citrus hops start and finish the party while a nice balance of malt carry the beer.

An medium-full body does the beer well.

This drink lives up to the hype. You've gotta snag a four-pack of this if you're able.
