look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

A: Pours a nice golden color with a small ring of off white head and a moderate amount of foamy lacing.

S: fairly clean, with feint hints of sweet grain, caramel, and citrus, particularly lemon.

T: Again fairly clean, but just what I'm looking for in a lager. Chewy baked bread, hints of yeast and citrus and a mild bitter finish.

M: Medium body with a good amount of carbonation and a clean, crisp finish.

O: A really solid lager all-around. Especially nice on a hot summer day. Too bad I can't get it in bottles!

on tap at Fat Head's Pittsburgh, 16oz pour into a pint glass

A - clear pale golden liquid suspends a bit over half an inch of tightly packed white foam, leaves behind a complex web of lacing that coats the glass the whole way down.

S - toasted cracker malts with plenty of noble hops

T - noble hops again, throughout the entire drink. nicely complemented with some cracker, biscuit malts...slight bit of pepper for character.

M - well carbonated, noticeable and livery but not distracting. nice thin but crunchy body.

D - would make a great session beer, reminds me of summertime. well flavored, well bodied, overall great "light" helles lager. great start to the night. impressed.

On tap at the main brewpub, Cleveland. Decent enough beer, nowhere as good as the Ontario versin a la Creemore. A little funky yeast and a little astringent obstructs taste and fresh aromas from coming through. Decent drinkability though.suitably carbonated.

On tap in Cleveland.

A: Pours a nice golden color with just a tad bit of haze to it. A nice 1 finger foam head with some decent lacing down the side.

S: A lot of bready malt with some hop character in there. The malt character is the most prevalent.

T: The tangy hop flavor up front, nothing extremely bitter, balanced out nicely by the bready/toasty malt flavors.

M: Leaves a nice clean taste on the palate.

D: This is an easy beer to drink. A low ABV makes having a few in a sitting quite reasonable.

On tap @ Fat Heads Cleveland. Served in a pint glass.

This beer arrived to the table looking a bit better than the average lager beer.  Starlight has a golden straw color and a clear, filtered appearance. It has decent head for a lager and the beer leaves behind lace. While it's a good looking beer, it's also nothing that made me say 'wow'.

I put my nose in the pint glass and am greeted by all the elements of a nice, slightly grainy lager with a touch of sweet malt and mild noble hops.  Really pleasant and pretty expressive for a lager.

This beer tastes really refreshing.  Noble hops add slight Earthy notes which go great with a touch of lingering malt, slightly grainy with biscuit and just a touch of toast. Not too sweet, a nice alternative to BMC for sure.

Starlight Lager is crisp with a clean finish and light mouthfeel.  A wonderful alternative to BMC and something that should be bottled. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a lager beer this much. Very well done!

From notes at the brewpub: The Starlight you know served Keller Style, slightly unfiltered leaving more pronounced flavors. Still an elegant, hazy, golden lager that balances malt and noble hops to quench your thirst. This German Styled Helles Lager served Keller style will be the perfect companion to the Parma Karma Platter.

Review from notes taken while I enjoyed this beer earlier tonight at the brewery/pub in North Olmsted, Ohio. Poured into a clean, clear glass.

A Interesting. This is the Keller version of their Starlight Lager which I found to be a bit forgettable. The body is a bit more cloudy than that of the standard Starlight Lager and there is a nice, creamy white head. I strain to recall if there was a significant head on the standard version. Anyway, very solid look. 4.0

S Barley predominates and I really like this smell, appropriate to the style. 4.0

T Nice, flavorful lager taste that I was really hoping for out of the standard Starlight Lager but did not get (due to the filtering?). There are certainly hops in the taste but most of what I got was like barley husks. 4.0

M Thin feel but more chewy than the standard Starlight Lager. 3.5

D Very good indeed, as is one of the points of a 5.0 ABV Munich/Helles Lager (at least in my opinion). 4.5

Notes: Very impressed with what the "Keller" has added to the boring, standard version of Starlight Lager.
