Pours a hazy orange-ish to amber color with a light tan head. In the aroma, dark fruit and a mellow wheat presence. In the taste, small dry dark fruit and a nice presence of banana in the end. A small bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry banana dark fruit like aftertaste. Nice presence of dry banana to mix with the dark fruit.

The color is sort of a dark orange-hued bronze, and the pour off the tap produces a fairly sizeable, fluffy off-white head. It manages some heft as it sticks around in some form or other and drops some patchy lacing down the glass, though just a bit more time before it drops to a foam would contribute more to the beer's strong character.
Straight from the pour I get a strong whiff of bubble gum, initially the strongest note in the beer. If anything, it's nice to know they're not skimping on the specialized yeast. Otherwise, it continues from there, this beer really accentuating and determinedly announcing that it is nothing if not a German beer. Wheat forms a strong backbone while the banana, clove and rich dark fruits make this a complete and very good version of the style. I want to rate it higher, except that by standards a Weizenbock's bubble gum character should not be so dominantly high. This doesn't detract from this beer as being a very good one, but its sacrifice of subtlety and overall balance of flavors for strength keeps it from being one of the greats.
The feel is excellent; rich and silky, there's a nice. active bite of crispness that contributes with the wheat in the medium body and a tight carbonation to form a very nice and lasting smoothness.

from a growler filled at Cleveland location earlier in the week - served in a 10oz weizen glass

A - pours with a solid amount, over an inch of creamy and fluffy, light tan colored foam. the beer is very hazy, dark brown in color.

S - sharp fruity esters, huge amount of banana coming through - balanced slightly by a bit of yeast and spice, and a touch of vanilla sweetness.

T - banana, very ripe and sweet right out of the gate. hints of light milk chocolate join in as well. turns towards the yeasty side halfway through with some pink bubblegum and clove spice.

M - medium bodied with tight and punchy carbonation. very creamy through the swallow, finishes with some slightly biting yeasty spice and lingering fruit.

D - solid all around, hitting all the typical looks, smells, and tastes of the style. not much unique about it, though there doesnt need to be. another solid beer from an up and coming brewery.

Got an 12oz pour at the Pittsburgh Fatheads, not sure when it happened but it now clocks in at 8.7% ABV.

A - Pours a dark tinted amber, almost orange with just a layer of head but it looks creamy.

S - Very impressive smell. Candied banana, spicy clove, touch of sweetness in the nose and no bitterness from hops or yeast.

T - Very subtle alchohol, then rounds to banana sweetness but not too sweet, then covey spice, and finish is sweet. I was mostly impressed by next to none flavors and burn of alchohol.

M - Medium bodied but it drinks nice.

Overall like the wheat wine I am also impressed with their ability to make a very drinkable Weizenbock. Recommended!

On tap at Fat Head's.

Pours a hazy copper-brown with a good off-white head and some good lacing as it goes down the glass. The nose brings forward a strong clove presence with a bit of bubble gum, banana, and malt in the background. Strong yeasty components throughout. Some dark fruits are present in the taste along with quite a bit of clove and spicy yeast. A bit too much brown-sugar, however. The mouthfeel was pretty rich with a bit of booze. Altogether, a pretty solid beer but not something I would seek out again.

Enjoyed this brew from a growler into a pint glass.

A: Copper brown ale with a thin 2-finger head with decent retention which ends in a wispy lace.

S: Caramel and sweetness aromas fill the nose. Hints of wheat and yeast are present.

T: Predominant caramel and sweet flavor. Good wheat and banana clove background. Alcohol is present but masked nicely by the sweet malt.

M: Medium carbonation and medium body.

D: Not too many weizenbocks out there - but this is one of the better ones i've had. Easily drinkable - Every beer from Fat Heads has been a pleasant surprise so far.

Fatheads Alpen Glow

Pours a hazed light brown. Aroma of bubblegum, banana and clove. In the taste, heavy on the banana, alittle spice and alcohol burn. Pretty much estery yeast giving off the banana flavors, which is the one dimensional, yet very nice flavor profile. Some brown sugar, caramel and more banana. Mouthfeel medium bodied and smooth. Overall, a nice brew sure to please any wheat fan.

Served on tap at Cleveland Oktoberfest

A- Poured a dark brown color with a two finger off-white frothy head that left lots of lace.

S- Bubblegum, pear, and banana notes

T- Strong bubblegum, pear, and banana flavors with an astringency reminiscent of the aroma of nail polish, not in a bad way though.

M- Pretty creamy with good carbonation that finished with a sharp bitterness

O- A very drinkable and great tasting weizenbock. I would get this one again if I did not want Head Hunter IPA all night.

A: Pours a deep burnt orangish amber color, similar to fall leaves. Provides a one finger off white foam head with moderate lacing.

S: Ample amounts of banana, bubblegum, cloves, wheat and apple cider. Very inviting.

T: Starts off with a nice pleasant taste of banana and bubblegum. The spices and spiced cider come through in the middle and last the rest of the way. The bubblegum is most noticeable on the back end which blends nicely with the spices.

M: A nice medium bodied beer. Leaves a spice thick taste on the palate. Not as long lasting as expected but still very nice.

O: One of the better weizenbocks that I have tasted. Nicely blended flavors that you would expect. Would certainly enjoy this on a crisp fall evening.
