Appearance: Copper golden color with a semi frothy one finger off white head

Smell: Bright citrus, pine, tropical, grassy, honey biscuit malt

Taste: Zesty citrus (lemon, grapefruit, orange), pine, grassy, bitter. Slight pale malt, but could use more

Mouthfeel: Heavy light body; Smooth with a moderately bitter finish

Overall: Someone please tell me the difference between a pale ale and a session ipa. Anyways, I prefer this over Founders All Day and Stone's Go To. Its light and has plenty of citrus hops but not overly so and bitter like Go To or too malty like All Day. They found a nice balance with this one just like Head Hunter. It also helps that I usually get Fat Head's beers within a week or two of bottling. Between this, Head Hunter, and JUJU, they're amongst the leading breweries in the world when it comes to IPAs! However, I think $12 a six pack is a little steep for a session ipa, and may as well grab Head Hunter over this every time.

Bottle poured into a teku

A - Pours a hazy orangish-yellow. 1.5 finger head with a decent amount of sediment.

S - Bright citrus. I'm getting grapefruit and orange up front. There is also a tiny touch of pine and dankness in the background.

T - Citrus is the main flavor but the pine and dankness is more prominent than the nose suggests. Finishes with some dry crackery malt backbone.

M - Finishes very clean and dry.

O - For what it is and what the intention was, it's pretty spot on. I have a hard time calling it sessionable at it's abv but for a lower ABV IPA, it's bright, flavorful, and clean. It's simply a more subdued version of Head Hunter. Very nice to drink.

Fat Heads Sunshine Daydream

Sigh . . . Hippies. ( honestly I've always kinda admired them )

Poured into pint glass

A: A very nice opaque orange. Nice because this is the first "session ipa" I've had that actually has some color.

S: Citrus, floral notes, fresh cut grass and if I'm not mistaken galaxy hops ?

T: Hold on . . . I have the hic-ups . . . Ok, taste is the same. Really very flavorful for a sessionable ipa. Flavors walk step in step with with what's on my nose. Sunshine Daydream is as close to a "regular" ipa as I've enjoyed.

M: Easy drinking . . . watch out for this one. Smooth and very well carbonated.

O: I'm one of those guys that really likes this style. I can appreciate the niche these are trying to fill for those who . . . (Gasp) . . . Like flavor and low abv% . . . So far the best sessionable ipa I've been privileged enough to enjoy. Well done Fatheads. But when golfing . . . I'm still taking All Day ipa with me. CAN IT !!!

Bright golden copper body with a light pale white head, forming nicely with even lacing distributed on the sides of the 16 ounce nonic pint glasses they use at Fat Head's. One of the only hoppier offerings on tap, last night when we stopped in for dinner on the way back from Sandusky. Aroma has nice floral, tropical fruit, and pine ridden hop expressions, with underlying bready malts to complement the resinous hop tones. Each sip was as aggressive as the next, very hoppy dry bitter finish, floral, citric, and mango notes of hops explode even some resinous pine accents. I was taken aback by how hoppy their session IPA is, I love me some Headhunter sadly it wasn't flowing, but this was a solid substitute. Mouthfeel was medium bodied some resinous oily hop texture, with sturdy flowing carbonation...went down smooth nice lasting dry bitter hop finish in each sip. Overall a very impressive beer, that I fully enjoyed. Next visit I plan to make a day out of it, I was just stopping in with the family for a nice meal and a few beers. We had a nice mix of great service, food and beer.

4/18/14 Bottle Review:

Bottled on 4/10/14 that's as fresh as your going to find a session IPA...pours a pale copper hue with slightly off white khaki head forming thick nice head even lacing.

Aroma has citrus peel, mango, peach pit, a bit of dank hop qualities, nice to see this offering come out in the beginning of the warmer months. Clean biscuit malt extremely pale malts here folks, but nice hop effects along the way.

Flavor comes off nice and bitter, juicy hops, with a watery pale malt profile dank hops in the backend a hint of tart peach and mango juice/nectar without any residual sugar very dry finish going on.

Mouthfeel is light nearly water like texture, slightly slick hop oils goes down easy. Carbonation is a bit much here, I poured a sturdy pour and let the carbonation settle down a bit after my first two bottles. Seems to bring the flavors together much better after letting it sit for a bit.

Overall, nice beer easy drinking hoppy session ale.

It's nice to see Fat Head's coming into Toledo, at least at The Attic.

The color is a clear bright orange. A tight head grows about a finger tall and takes time to fade but never fading much. Pretty plentiful patchy lacing remains on the glass.
There's plenty of citrus in this beer, going both somewhat in the juicier sense as well as some rind/zest. It mixes with floral hops and a bit of pine. Just enough malts to keep it hop-forward but not abrasive give a bit of breadiness and make it nicely balanced. Herbal character and a touch of pith make their way into a mostly dry finish that lingers a bit.
The body is medium with a active carbonation. Smoothness and crispness are about even, both at a good keel, and some dryness pulls out into the finish.

Had on tap at Fat Heads. Review from notes.

A: Pours a clear bright orange color with a small white foamy cap on top, little retention, leaving a small ring. Little bits of lacing form.

S: Citrus and tropical fruits, some pineapple, grapefruit, and a bit of rind.

T: Similar to the aroma, plenty of citrus - more grapefruit, pineapple, and a bit of orange. There was a little bit of pine that showed up after the fruit along with a little bit of pale malt.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with medium carbonation. Crisp and easy drinking.

O: One of best beers I had at Fat Heads, lots of flavor packed into a relatively "small" beer.

I LIKE THE SUNSHINE DREAM!!! Please do not mass produce and kill the taste a la Z'Dust!!! This beer is a light version of the original Z'Dust. The beer pours a clear golden color with thin white head that is leaving a lace. The scent carries wonderful citrus, pine and orange spice. The taste follows the nose and comes off the pallet fairly clean. The mouthfeel is light in body with good carbonation. Overall this is an absolute solid beer!!!
