look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Appearance: Pours a deep amber, cloudy with lots of sediment chunks. Thick 1.5" light tan head, foamy. Outstanding lacing and retention.

Aroma: BIG citrus & resinous aroma.

Taste: Light, dry arrival. slight hint of some malt, like a shadow of malt, across mid-palate. Firm hop bite, string bitterness at the end.

Mouthfeel: Light & clean. Lighter than most APAs; mild but present effervescence.

Overall: No doubt, this is a hoppy beer; but it is not overpowering or unpleasant. If it is out of balance, it is in a good way. (527 characters)

Bottled 06/28/14 at 40 degrees into snifter
Aroma of flowers
Head average (3.5 cm), white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to 4 mm ring and broken layer
Lacing very good- wide thick rings of small bubbles
Body light yellow, hazy
Flavor begins bitter with a flowery perfume taste. This dies quickly and only the bitterness remains. No alcohol, no malt, no diacetyl.
Palate light to medium, watery, lively carbonation

This meets the criteria for an American IPA. I personally do not care for the flowery aroma and flavor. (516 characters)

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a teku glass

A - It is amber with golden highlights. It is topped with an inch of off-white head.

S - I get some dank citrus.

T - I taste fresh, dank hops. There is plenty of citrus, too.

M - Watery

O - It has good flavor. I am just turned off by the watery mouthfeel of the session IPA's. (325 characters)

A: Nice light orange color, a finger of head. Laced the glass really nicely.
S: Pine, tropical fruit, little bit of herbal aromas, bready malts
T: Followed the nose really well, little bit of bitterness of upfront followed by tropical fruits and a nice sweet finish
M: Light mouthfeel, but not watery. Enough carbonation for a slight bite. Finishes up dry.
O: Great session IPA. Lighter on the IPA spectrum but still extremely flavorful and tasty. Could definitely crush a few of these. (487 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle: bright and brassy, clear golden color with a quickly receding white-head. A hard to read date was stamped on the glass of bottle.

The aroma was very pungent, bittersweet tropical fruit with a hint of pine.

This is another excellent session IPA, perhaps the best, as far as the overall balance of flavors. The flavor begins with a sharp, but smooth citrusy bitterness that lingers on the palate before dissipating, leaving a nice malt on the tongue. Not hugely complex, this is an ideal hot weather ale that remains interesting sip after sip.

Another great Ohio offering. (605 characters)

Thanks to fiver29 for yet another lovely box of beer, this one stuffed with a bunch of Fat Head's hops, which I always covet. 22 oz. bottle split with, well, no one, as usual for this brewery. I don't play well with others.

The pour is a light filtered orange, & it has carbonation. Nose is all citrus with a foreshadowing of lashing-out bitterness. Not bad.

Sunshine Daydream tastes like the Son of Head Hunter. Tsunami of House-level bitterness greets the tongue & pummels the palate. Middle is akin to a Fruit of the Loom commercial, with mango, orange, citrus, & those fruit-guys you can't see in the background. I am gulping this, which I suppose how a session IPA should be treated.

These guys know what to do with hops. Too many low ABV beers are colorless & could easily be confused with slightly altered well water - not this one. One of the better 'session' beers out there & a very good beer. (909 characters)

Nicely done session IPA. Bright fruity citrus nose and very refreshing. Definitely has an above average hop profile for this style. But of course it does- It's Fat Heads! (170 characters)

It's nice to see Fat Head's coming into Toledo, at least at The Attic.

The color is a clear bright orange. A tight head grows about a finger tall and takes time to fade but never fading much. Pretty plentiful patchy lacing remains on the glass.
There's plenty of citrus in this beer, going both somewhat in the juicier sense as well as some rind/zest. It mixes with floral hops and a bit of pine. Just enough malts to keep it hop-forward but not abrasive give a bit of breadiness and make it nicely balanced. Herbal character and a touch of pith make their way into a mostly dry finish that lingers a bit.
The body is medium with a active carbonation. Smoothness and crispness are about even, both at a good keel, and some dryness pulls out into the finish. (758 characters)

Sunshine Daydream Session IPA from Fat Heads Brewery & Saloon. Another recommendation by the knowledgeable fellow employed at Rt. 62 Butts and Brews in Stark County,OH. Poured from the bottle into a glass, this brew's got a minimal head that disappears in a flash. Clear golden straw body.

Smells like the fruits mentioned on the label. Also a fair amount of hop aromas. This really has got a summer vibe going on.

The IPA hop bitterness is certainly there, along with small hints of the fruits.

Mouthfeel is clean and dry.

Overall a 4 for Sunshine Daydream Session IPA from Fat Heads Brewery & Saloon. I really dig the tropical theme going on here. They pulled off a killer brew here. I will buy this brew again! (721 characters)

Pours a clean orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, dryer orange citrus rinds. In the taste, dry pine to a an orange citrus rind, quite mellow, and a touch watery. A small hop bite to smoothness, with a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry cirtusy pine hop in the aftertaste. An all day IPA, nice hop presence, a bit thin, but still enjoyable. (380 characters)

Poured from a growler into a pint glass
A: Pure orange, crystal clear with a one-finger head
S: Citrus, pine and tropical fruit
T: Matches the nose; rather bitter
M: Light-medium bodied, has a nice up-front bite but not much of a finish
O: With all of the session IPAs hitting the market this isn't at the tip top of my list but is quite close, definitely recommended (367 characters)

Citra all up in your face; and mouth. Nose on this one straight off the pour is great. Flavor is great too. Bright citrus that are sharply defined. Though possibly a bit too much so. Seems just a bit too bright on the citrus really. But I still like it. Smooth feel, if not thin really. A good session ipa. Better than a lot of the other stuff out there. The only detractor is the feel of it. (392 characters)

Had this on 2012-06-18 in North Olmsted, OH at the brew pub (from tasting notes)

A - Clear gold with a 1/2-finger white head and mild lacing.

S - Mild pineapple, hop floral, light citrus. Mild aroma. (food odors present)

T - Citrus, pineapple, grass, hop tang. Dries nicely with a fine and lingering citrus bitterness that almost lasts as long as Head Hunter

M - Light body and medium carbonation. Crisp and refreshing.

O - A great flavor for a low ABV brew. I'd have one just about every day if it were available here in PA! (530 characters)

Aroma is floral, resiny, dank, and flecked with notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and mango. Fairly complex. Fruity and dank hops are in balance, dominating the aroma.

Flavor is more resiny at the base, with a light toasted malt backbone and a moderately bitter finish. Dank cannabis, grapefruit, and tangerine rule the profile. Nice balance of bittering and flavoring hops. (373 characters)

Bright golden copper body with a light pale white head, forming nicely with even lacing distributed on the sides of the 16 ounce nonic pint glasses they use at Fat Head's. One of the only hoppier offerings on tap, last night when we stopped in for dinner on the way back from Sandusky. Aroma has nice floral, tropical fruit, and pine ridden hop expressions, with underlying bready malts to complement the resinous hop tones. Each sip was as aggressive as the next, very hoppy dry bitter finish, floral, citric, and mango notes of hops explode even some resinous pine accents. I was taken aback by how hoppy their session IPA is, I love me some Headhunter sadly it wasn't flowing, but this was a solid substitute. Mouthfeel was medium bodied some resinous oily hop texture, with sturdy flowing carbonation...went down smooth nice lasting dry bitter hop finish in each sip. Overall a very impressive beer, that I fully enjoyed. Next visit I plan to make a day out of it, I was just stopping in with the family for a nice meal and a few beers. We had a nice mix of great service, food and beer.

4/18/14 Bottle Review:

Bottled on 4/10/14 that's as fresh as your going to find a session IPA...pours a pale copper hue with slightly off white khaki head forming thick nice head even lacing.

Aroma has citrus peel, mango, peach pit, a bit of dank hop qualities, nice to see this offering come out in the beginning of the warmer months. Clean biscuit malt extremely pale malts here folks, but nice hop effects along the way.

Flavor comes off nice and bitter, juicy hops, with a watery pale malt profile dank hops in the backend a hint of tart peach and mango juice/nectar without any residual sugar very dry finish going on.

Mouthfeel is light nearly water like texture, slightly slick hop oils goes down easy. Carbonation is a bit much here, I poured a sturdy pour and let the carbonation settle down a bit after my first two bottles. Seems to bring the flavors together much better after letting it sit for a bit.

Overall, nice beer easy drinking hoppy session ale. (2,068 characters)

Appearance: Pours clear from the bottle with a golden color verging on copper; an impressive head fills the glass and leaves enough lacing to please the eye

Smell: Citrus fruit with a touch of mango and a whiff of biscuity malt

Taste: Citrusy and juicy, up front, with the mango developing; just a bit of malt to balance with the finish bright and clean

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This would be a go-to session IPA for me if I was looking for one; delivers the flavor without the ABV (532 characters)

I'm a sucker for the name. Having gotten into the Grateful Dead not a year ago, when I saw this, well... Like the Zappa releases from Lagunitas.. Those were some great beers. So, this must be the same right? It was pricey in a state where ya gotta buy a case, so when I came home to Clevo, I bought one to try.

Poured a bit on the murky dark orange side with little lace and head. Smells of grapefruit and orange and a bit of sweet. Went down with only hints of bitter. Slight foam formed. A bigger swig produced the bitter I was expecting, but balanced and light.

There is tar, grapefruit and orange. Dry and crisp. There is a candy like ending. Dare I say this was a refreshing IPA? Session? They nailed that one. With all the flavor and a low APV... It's a treat. (770 characters)

Slightly hazy, orange-gold in colour with a decent head.

Very forward with sweet citrusy hop notes of clementine. Only slightly piney with a lightly sweet malt backbone.

The taste begins sweet, citrusy and refreshing. The light malt backbone probably contributes to the very orange-y sweetness that carries throughout the drier, slightly resinous finish.

Light mouthfeel but more toward the medium side of things, with a nice carbonation.

Overall a very refreshing and flavourful session ale. (496 characters)

Had on tap at Fat Heads. Review from notes.

A: Pours a clear bright orange color with a small white foamy cap on top, little retention, leaving a small ring. Little bits of lacing form.

S: Citrus and tropical fruits, some pineapple, grapefruit, and a bit of rind.

T: Similar to the aroma, plenty of citrus - more grapefruit, pineapple, and a bit of orange. There was a little bit of pine that showed up after the fruit along with a little bit of pale malt.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with medium carbonation. Crisp and easy drinking.

O: One of best beers I had at Fat Heads, lots of flavor packed into a relatively "small" beer. (651 characters)

Serving Type - Bottle

Appearance - Straw yellow, light golden tan, not much of a head, some lacing.

Smell - Piney, grapefruit hops, a little orange, lemon, and a little sweet sugar note.

Taste - Had this one on tap last year, now in bottle. Session ipa, straight up grapefruit and pine hops, with some orange and lemon. A little grassy flavor, and minor sugars add a little kick. No alcohol or malts are noticed, Not much more can be said.

Mouthfeel - Hops coat the tongue and palate with grapefruit and pine. Palate gets some minor grassy notes, some orange and lemon, and a little sugar. Aftertaste is Hop bitter, bubblegum like and lemon.

Overall - Just a great session ipa. Most all these session ipas taste the same, yet fatheads has a grassy, herbal note to theres that's sets it apart. Of course, low alcohol, plenty of flavor, its a winner for certain. (865 characters)

Bottle poured into a teku

A - Pours a hazy orangish-yellow. 1.5 finger head with a decent amount of sediment.

S - Bright citrus. I'm getting grapefruit and orange up front. There is also a tiny touch of pine and dankness in the background.

T - Citrus is the main flavor but the pine and dankness is more prominent than the nose suggests. Finishes with some dry crackery malt backbone.

M - Finishes very clean and dry.

O - For what it is and what the intention was, it's pretty spot on. I have a hard time calling it sessionable at it's abv but for a lower ABV IPA, it's bright, flavorful, and clean. It's simply a more subdued version of Head Hunter. Very nice to drink. (678 characters)
