12 ounce draft pour.
Appearance: Perfectly translucent maple, with a thin head that fades rather quickly.
Smell: Profound aroma of freshly grated lemon zest.
Taste: Tastes like it smells. Imagine peeling a lemon and chewing on its peal. Its not over-the-top like a lemonade, but lemon pith is the predominant flavor for sure. It definitely over-powers the malt bill. And yet there is a refreshing balance laced throughout. Overall I am very impressed.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation.
Overall: So my liver and I got together and decided that we were going to start a collection of these Ales for ALS beers. There are something like 40 breweries participating in this program, and a portion of the proceeds goes to support research into Lou Gehrig’s Disease. I am now convinced that it is my civic duty and obligation to drink each and every one of them. This IPA is a perfect example of what this fundraiser should generate… a highly drinkable beer. I love the use of the “experimental” hops here. Well done.
