Look folks, this maybe the best brewpub I've been to. I can't recall any that I enjoyed more. This was definitely the best suited for my rambunctious family. The kids are loud but so was the bustling conversation and lively atmosphere, I don't recall alot of big screens jumping out and ruining the socialization this place has, but there may have been a few near the bar. When we pulled up on the outside of the building on the corner of Lorain where it's located, I realized this place is booming. It's become a center of culture for this area, full packed parking lot hard to find a spot and it's pretty massive. Big Fathead's logos on both the buildings and the grain silo outside. Brewing equipment visible right as you walk in let's you know this place is making the beer, front area has the hostess with a gift shop right behind it I got my black military style cap with the Headhunter IPA log embroidered. Big wooden tables, benches, booths, long bar stretches across the whole front side of the house on the left with seating to my right. Mug club mugs proudly centered behind the main bar area, with guest taps up first with chalkboard art telling me what's flowing. Bathroom area still decorated with pictures from around the world where patrons sporting their Fat Head's gear are representing proud. As you pass the bar, dining area pops up this place was packed, no wait so it's evidently large enough to support the crowd. Selection was awesome, website is updated regularly to see what's pouring.

No Headhunter flowing but I'm kind of spoiled, I get it on tap in the Burgh pretty frequently. My standouts were Vienna Lager, Goggle Fogger hefe, Sunshine Daydreamer IPA, and the Imperial Oatmeal Stout other options flowing were Bumbleberry, Boogaloo Blonde, TBA, Rocket Man Red which they were pouring on cask, Alpenglow Weizenbock, Sorcerer dark Belgian style ale. I don't even see the need for the guest taps when you're pouring this kind of variety, but I name some of the highlights on the guest taps, London Pride, JP Bam Biere, Goose Island Sofie, and Two Brothers Dog Days Dortmunder.

Food was fantastic, I had the Pastrami/Italian sausage headwich, my wife had the Cheesesteak, huge portions with tasty house chips, kids shared some wings, fried pierogies, and a cheeseburger and fries. Look nothing gourmet about the food just barebones delicious pubfare, and they do it well especially with the smokehouse grilled wings.

Service at the tables were dead on, young friendly busy but attentive waitress gave us wonderful service and put up with the kids (who were all worn out from a day at the waterpark).

On the way out in the parking lot I ran into Matt Cole, let him know that I'm a Fat Head's fanatic from the Burgh, and that this place was Grade A. He was carrying a few plaques for the Pittsburgh location, with GABF, and Wold Beer Cup medals. Stand up dude, great brewer, gotta love the fact that they all had the vision to make this brewpub, and a production brewery...big things in store for Fat Head's...I can't wait.

Awesome beers, great sandwiches, and solid service. Had the Hop JuJu and Imperial Red, both pretty exceptional. Big variety of their own beers and guest beers on draft.

The brewery is located in an industrial park in North Olsmtead, about 15 minutes from downtown Cleveland. We were set to begin the last leg of a long, Boston-to-Iowa roadtrip. It was a grey and sharp day after an unusually warm late December, and we were hungover from the previous day's hockey game in Buffalo. Plus, you know, regular ol' holiday melancholy--Charlie Brown existentialist stuff, the routinization of a time period that once felt so magical, the sinking feeling that I'm somehow wasting life by not having children of my own, dread at having to see how far my parents have aged since last Christmas...

I've wanted to visit Great Lakes for over a decade but I've never before passed through Cleveland with any time to spare. They were closed on Sundays, though, so we just sat out front for a few minutes and weighed our options. I was sad, childishly, as if some kind of dream had been squashed. But then I remembered that a vague, weak desire does not constitute a dream, even if it is more than ten years old. It was time to be an adult. To move on.

We drove the extra little ways to North Olmstead, to Fat Head, a brewery I liked when they distributed to Indiana the last year or so that I lived there. Their highest rated beers were always hard to find, so I figured hey, this might yield something nice.

And yes, it did.

Fat Head's tap room was *exactly* the sort of place we needed to visit on this particular road trip. It wasn't uplifting or ostentatious. They had not gone all out on holiday decoration (there were some nice lights and trees and whatfor, but nothing a couple of people couldn't have put up in an hour or two). It was neither intimate nor bustling. The waitress was friendly but she did not sit down at our table or fake flirt so as to garner more tips.

It was, in short, a place that did not give a fuck. In the best possible way. It's the genuine version of the sort of chill that those Jimmy Buffet chain restaurants attempt to evoke, the sort of place you go when you want reality to become more tolerable but don't want any sort of hallucinogenic return to childhood.

The tap selection was about 20 deep and everything was super good. The food was solid pub fare. But the atmosphere was what really sold the place.

The size of the bar is pretty amazing. They have an expansive beer selection, including some local brews--some of which could even be considered rivalries--plus there's always something in a firkin. Their food combos are simple but are large, and they offer some unique takes on NE Ohio dishes. The problem with this place, and too many other breweries lately, is they want to cater to everyone and allow families--the worst part being small children, and lots of them. A bar or brewery is no place for rugrats, especially when it often consists of half the place. Sure it may seem great for business but they'd be doing good with an age limit as well. When a restaurant is this large and there's a line out the door on a weekday in the middle of winter, kick out the kids. Adults need their own place to chill.

Visited the Middleburg Heights location. Pretty cool setup with the tanks being about 20 feet from your tables. Good luck finding the place. Its actually in a giant warehouse with only a small sign to show you its the right drive.

Didn't try the food, but seriously, the selection, quality was amazing, possibly the best I've experienced! Tried an experimental dipa that was the best I've had, seriously, and I've tried A LOT.... Will definitely stop in whenever I'm nearby.....

Good bad but it is always extremely busy. There has been times the beer selection outside of their own beer can be a little underwelming.

What a massive production facility. Lots of overly hoppy beers on tap. New girl didn't know much about the beer, but the food was quite tasty. When in Cleveland it's a fun stop.... If you like hops

Fat Heads is an enjoyable place to visit. The walls are covered in interesting "Fat Head" beer tops, their list of current beers on tap are updated daily on their chalkboard. The food is definitely good, just usually too much! That's why we sit at the bar to enjoy a couple of beers with wings.

Fat Head’s in North Olmstead, OH, is the brewpub associated with the brewery. The place is large and whenever I’ve been there has been nearly full. The food has always been excellent with large portions at reasonable prices. While TVs are about, they are not as omnipresent as in many other bars or sports bars. Still, when busy, it can be nearly impossible to hear conversations across the table. Outside tables are also available for both smokers and non-smokers. The wait staff allows adequate time to peruse the food and beer menus and don’t ignore you after you receive your meal. They are also knowledgeable about the beer offerings.
Yes, the beer offerings! The beer menu is updated daily and mine had 18 of Fat Head’s brews, a cask conditioned Heavy Seas, and 19 other beers ranging from Blue Moon to Duchess de Bourgogne and St. Bernardus. About half of these are other Ohio beers. Growler refills are possible and samples may be purchased. Cans are not available but may be purchased at a stop-and-rob about a mile down Lorain.
My GPS always tells me to turn left (coming from I80) when I get to Loraine but Fat Head’s is on the right – just a minor glitch in location – doesn’t matter because Fat Head’s is at the intersection and easily seen.
