Boho is a beautiful restaurant, that was immediately obvious. Great taste in decor, classy, lots of wood, beautiful bar. A real visual treat. Very new, but with this great location the tables were pretty much full when I stopped on Saturday early evening. Large bar with three sides, but very few people there. Nobody is really here to drink beer, just to have a nice dinner in Hollywood.

Beer selection is very nice. A breadth of countries and styles to choose from. With such a range of styles and regions, this is great for food pairing. Personally, I prefer more of a rare and American craft slant, but this is definitely a great place for beer. I had an Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, which was excellent. Small pour for about $7 though. Also had a Dean Bros. ESB for $6. A bit pricy with nothing on the menu under $6 too.

The menu focuses on their pizza, with a few "small" and "big" plates to choose from as well. Overall it is upscale with lots of fancy ingredients to brag about though prices fall in the region of around $12-20 depending. I tried the Pulled Pork Pizza ($14). Think CPK except with fancier sounding ingredients, a few bucks more expensive, and a lot less flavor (and why do half the pizzas have anchovies on them? I thought we had eliminated those in the pizza wars of 1987). I have to say I was disappointed. The ultra thin crust had next to no flavor, and the mix of toppings brought very little complexity to my pizza. For $14 I was quite disappointed. The major redeeming factor here is half-price pizzas during happy hour.

After my entree I sampled the Zeppolis, or Italian "doughnuts." Essentially a bowl of fried dough (or cake) balls dusted with powdered sugar. Served with three dipping sauces: chocolate, lemon sambuca curd, and raspberry. Very crunchy but nice flavor. Problem: the dipping sauces were in containers too small to dip into. A decent dessert.

The food seems to strive for upper class, but leaves me feeling overpromised and underdelivered. The service was nice, but seeing how there was three bartenders and maybe a handful of people at the bar, how else could it be? Staff was friendly and seemed busy getting pouring/mixing drinks for all the tables.

Overall a very nice destination for beer, a nice accompaniment for the times I go to Blue Palms (it is within walking distance). I would stop in for Happy Hour, not much else. The focus here seems to be on the food, and that did not impress.

I have been a supporter and defender of this place in both its incarnations and was probably the first beer geek in the door when they re-opened at H & H, so I was especially annoyed at my recent treatment. We went during Happy Hour and altho the menu indicated that all beers were Happy Hour prices and said nothing about exceptions, I was charged full price for my beer. I pointed it out and the bartender--who has been the bartender virtually every time I've been there- only said he needed to update the menu. I know it's only $2 but it really is the principle. I'm not a regular but I go there as consistently as I go to any beer bar in the area and I don't like to be baited and switched like that. So, to get that $2, he's lost not only my business but my encouraging others to try the place even if seemed touristy and not beer geeky enough. You may think I'm just an old crank and I won't disagree, but really, would you be content to be treated like that?

Visited 10/8/11 around 6:30 before the Blink-182 show with the wife.

Atm- A lot of wood, leather and dim lighting. A nice upper casual feel with an inviting decor.

Quality- When you look at the tap list, it's not the deepest nor is the bottle list but what they do have on tap is quite all over for country and style. Made it pretty easy to pick a few beers to do the "Flight of the Heavens" pick 4

Service- I don't know if it was because it was a Sat. night but service seemed a bit sluggish. Out waiter came after a good 7-10 min wait but was attentive while he was at the table.

Selection- I'm dropping the points down for what they have in terms of numbers not beers themselves. About a low number of taps makes it easy to have some good breweries on tap. FW, Bruery, Ommegang, A'Chouffe, Weinstephaner.

Food- I went with the Boho burger and it was damn good with that mayo they make. Wife had the thin pizza with home made sausage.

Value- This place was a bit pricey being in a high $ area of Hollywood. For a cup of soup, salad, 2 dinners a flight and a drink for the wife was almost $100.

Went late on a saturday night, made it in about an half an hour before midnight closing.

Since they were closing soon, we didn't eat anything, nor did we have an opportunity to take much of a look around. So, cant comment on food or decor.

Brew wise, i think they had probably two dozen or so taps. They have a name your own flight for $11 so I opted for that. The pours were about 5-6 ounces. The cool thing about the flight was you could select any of their beers without anything additional for bigger beers. I went with FW Parabola, Allagash Curieux, SN Ovila Saison and d'Achouffe La Chouffe. Can't remember many of the other choices, but they did have Sculpin.

Most individual pours were $6-8.

Service was quick and friendly, maybe because we were nearly the only people there, but no reason to deduct any points.

I'm rarely in Hollywood, but would make Boho a stop whenever I am.

Went here a couple times when out in Hollywood for a conference.

Definitely go during Happy Hour (4-7 weekdays, 2-5 weekends) when all their beers are $5.

Great selection of beers, with the taps rotating pretty frequently. Had both Stone 2011 AND 2010 RIS on tap, with other great California options.

Bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly, food is good. Great selection of beers.

Overall, it's not the best place in Hollywood to go, but it's a great place if you want craft beer, especially at a good price and convenient location.

First time coming to Boho not without some trouble. Like a fool I wandered around the Arclight plaza without realizing the restaurant was on the corner! Oh well, still made happy hour!

Very nice wooden, American contemporary decor complete with comfortable couches, wooden tables, brick, and a few large flat screen television. Floors were very clean and the ceilings were very high.

The tap-list was not very extensive, but it represented a large variety of styles, supplemented by a larger bottle list. While the prices were good for happy hour discount ($5), they were on the pricey side normally.

Food was definitely a plus with some high quality gastropub fare, and the waitstaff was very responsive and friendly, even if the bartender didn't don a smile at all times.

Boho is certainly worthy of a stop for a nice dinner complemented by a nice brew. As far as people are concerned, it was pretty dead early Cinco de Mayo evening so I can not comment on that aspect of the atmosphere. I would, and probably will, come back for a meal sometime soon.

Stopped by here with a CA BA after a few beers at Blue Palms.

Atmosphere is phenomenal - I don't remember all the specifics but I remember thinking I was at an arboretum with couches and lots of glass. The bar is fairly large with rich furnishings. The path to the bathroom goes behind the bar and rare bottled beers are visible behind a glass partition.

Quality is good. All beer was served at the proper temperature with good amounts of head.

Service was good. We arrived just as they were about to close and the bartender was a bit surly but still managed to be friendly enough. We didn't ask any beer-related questions so I can't give any information on that front.

Selection was very good. 12-15 beers were on-tap, about 8 of which were fairly rare. This is just a notch behind Blue Palms in my opinion.

Value was good. Slightly pricey but nothing too bad.

Overall this was a very interesting place that I would have enjoyed visiting even without the good beer. Worth a stop.

If you are in Hollywood, this is a nice place to get a good pint or 2.

Very nice selection of beers on tap. A lot of the usual suspects and a few surprises too.

Right next to Amoeba records and the Arclight Cinema and down the road from the Hollywood Farmers Market.

They have easy (albeit pricey) parking down below.

The food is much better than Blue Palms so if you are out for dinner/lunch and a coupla pints this is a great bet.

Well worth a visit but it's so close to Blue Palms that if you want to get your beer geek on walk 6 blocks.

I stopped in while in LA on business based on the BA listing.

Boho is a little more upscale than my usual haunts but it's LA and they have good beer so it worked. The front area is well lit and has a variety soft lounge chairs and tables. The back area is darker with the bar and has much more of a pub feel. The décor is varied but it fits together well. They also have a small seating area out front.

I actually started to get used to the posh setting and focused on the beer list. They had 30 or so on tap with lots of CA beers and some from the rest of the US and Europe. Then they had about 13 in the bottle. The list isn't outstanding but it's solid. I went with a Stone XIII Anniversary and a Craftsman Poppyfields. Both were fresh and tasty. They had a half price happy hour going so we paid $13 for four beers!

Boho is definitely a good beer bar and an especially good stop if you can hit happy hour.

I stopped in here at about 5:30 pm today after shopping at Amoeba Music right across the street and before heading up to Blue Palms, I immediately noticed the cool decor when I first walked in, lots of wood and kind of a landscape feel in there, took a seat in the bar area towards the back and looked over the taps that totaled up right around thirty or maybe a little less, some of the beers included Aventinus, Telegrpah Reserve Sour Wheat, Port 3rd Anniversary which I had a glass of for six dollars, and yes they serve their various styles of beer in proper glassware, other beers included Alesmith Lil' Devil, Kostritzer, Speakeasy Hunter's Point Porter, North Coast Brother Thelonious, Rogue Chocolate Stout, and Stone Russian Imperial Stout, their bottle list was small with about fifteen offerings maximum but it had a few cool things inlcuding Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek priced at a whopping thirty-nine dollars, also Fantome Printemps, Allagash Confluence, and Malheur Brut Noir, I had the Margherita pizza to eat and while it was pretty good, it was nothing special either, a little overpriced at twelve dollars, it is rather small portions too, oddly you can egg to it for a dollar more, did not have the bravery to attempt that one, pizza seems like the way to go here based on what I have heard from other customers and recommendations by the bartender, place was super clean as expected since it is brand new, there is a lot of room in there and also lots of potential, service was weak and some of the people working there needed to get over themselves, that aside it is a nice addition to the LA beer scene and I look forward to see what becomes of it in the future, also good to hear Ryan from Verdugo is running things as far as beer goes, cannot go wrong there, will go back, worth checking out

I was pleasantly surprised to find this new beer bar/restaurant right in the center of hollywood. However, I had heard that there was going to be a place opening up which would be utilizing the expertise of the Beer manager from "The Verdugo" bar in Glendale, so it wasn't a total surprise to see the comprehensive beer selection offered at Boho.

The beer selection was decent, although I wasn't overly impressed with any item on the list...all beers that could be found at some of the better local beer stores and bars. Nothing on cask, nitro or any special release items, unfortunately (but they had just opened up 3 days prior).

The atmosphere was WEIRD. We walked by the place several times before realizing that the unmarked restaurant with the formally dressed "bouncers/doormen" outside was the place that we were looking for. After walking through the restaurant feeling underdressed (in jeans, a nice black top and high heels), we ended up sitting down at the bar which turned out to be comfortable enough. The bar tender was nice, attentive without being overbearing and we ordered food at the bar. The white pizza w/ arugula was AWESOME!

Lastly, I would just like to address the comment made by [HopHeadLouie] that "BOHO is exactly what Hollywood has been waiting for,..."
...While it is nice to see more quality beer bar/restaurants opening up in this area, the beer/food quality and selection at this new BOHO bar is NOTHING compared to the **BluePalms Brewhouse** which is only 0.54 miles away, also in Hollywood.

Going to make it quick. Had a great post-movie meal at Boho. Girlfriend and I both really enjoyed the food, which was a huge plus to the great beer menu. I paid $32 for a bottle of Cantillon Gueuze, about double what it is in stores, but for me it was worth it. Not remembering many beers on the menu, Ballast Point Big Eye IPA was only IPA I remember, but Ten Fidy is on it which makes me happy :)

Recommend the French Onion Soup.

Definitely recommend eating and drinking here. Parking is easy too bc of the huge garage it shares with theater.

Heading to the ArcLight and figured I'd have to eat at Baja Fresh. But no, new GastroPub right in the same complex and it is great.

Not expecting the place was a plus. Getting an Avery Maharaja for $3 at happy hour was not expected. Following that up with a Port Hop 15 and a Lagunitas Undercover Shutdown, also for $3 and it was a great night.

Very interesting food. I chose the Pulled Pork Pizza which was great. Tonight? Think I will follow up with the Kalbi Pizza, complete with Kimchi.

To drink tonight? With selections from Lost Abbey, Green Flash or Stone, I will not have a problem.

I will also sit in Katie's section again tonight so I can bore her with my beer stories - she was wonderful.

Great place. Great atmosphere. Great Beer. (Guess I should have gone all 5s)

One small complaint - with paper and a printer running all of $100, why is it so difficult to keep a beer list current? This doesn't just go for Boho, but damn, every place I go, I ask for the beer list, make my selection and its out. ALWAYS. I am grateful for fresh beer, but it can't really be that hard to fire up the computer, make a change or two and hit Ctrl+P?

Can it?

BOHO is exactly what Hollywood has been waiting for, a comfortable Gastro Pub that won't settle for anything less than stellar food and a world class tap list. Anyone who is familiar with the Oinkster in Eagle Rock, which is under the same ownership, will be able to surmise that the high standard for quality food is a foregone conclusion. But make no mistake this is no fast food joint. The menu transforms pub classics and trendy tapas into a gourmet experience. I ate there with a group of friends and we toured every menu category, from wonderfully creative appetizers like bone marrow on toast and po' boy oyster sliders, up through the delicious baked fennel and pulled pork pizzas all the way to the "Big Ass Plates" that included a delicious high end burger, smoky sweet ribs and ox tail stew. We eventually taped out after an assortment of phenomenal deserts, the highlight of which was the toasted coconut rice pudding.

With the food being of the highest caliber, it is no surprise that went out of their way to make sure the beer list would be nothing less than stellar. To insure quality they enlisted Ryan Sweeny, owner of the Verdugo bar to consult on the beer list and train bar staff. They also brought over Ryan's partner and co owner of the Verdugo, Brandon to set up their tap lines, which will assure you a fresh clean perfect pour. On my two visits I indulged in Moylans Harvest, Hop 15, Speedway Stout, Ten Fiddy and a Dry Hopped Stone Old Guardian, all served perfectly!

The staff is knowledgeable, but even more importantly, friendly and courteous. It might take them a while to learn to speak BA, but I was impressed with the attention that is given to making sure your beer needs were being met.

The Vibe was warm and inviting. Comfortable chairs and tables, very open space with lots of windows, feels big. Not too sure about the chachkis and nicknacks strewn about, but perhaps that is beyond my understanding of style and décor.

Prices are good, especially if you go during the half price pizza and beer happy hour from 5 to 7pm. Not sure if they are still under "soft opening" conditions, but it will be great to eventually get web details on hours and specials.

I am looking forward to big things beer-wise from BOHO!

I hate to feel like the fuddy duddy ruining everyone's good time, and I will make an effort to return and give it a second try, but Boho just didn't do it for me.

My friend and I arrived around 7:15 via cab. Hosting staff was fairly accommodating, and told us they were cleaning up two tables, so it would just be a minute. The interior was, by far, the highlight of BoHo for me, personally - they have a great location, with a HUGE window, if you're not back in the bar area, that looks out upon Amoeba Records and the business of Sunset Blvd. That window is just fun as all hell to people watch from - while we were there, some sort of Critical Mass-type cycling event was happening, with over 200 amateur cyclists stopping all traffic and pushing their way through the intersection. It was quite hilarious. Anyway, I digress - the interior is apparently done by some sort of design firm, and it showed. Sort of was as if someone had gone to a bunch of garage sales and furnished a restaurant with what they found. The result is this sort of mish-mosh of different chairs, tables, and little knick knacks all over the place. I most enjoyed the chandelier lighting fixtures, those were really cool.

Our food, after hearing so much about it, was just fine, and I think that's really what led to my disappointment. My friend had the Oinkster-style pulled pork sandwich, which was huge, and he said was pretty good but not out of this world. It was accompanied by some sort of seasoned/flavored potatoes (beet juice? they were purplish-red). I had the Po' Boy Oyster Sliders and the Sauteed Kale. The Oyster sliders, after hearing how good they are, turned out to be fine, but tiny little things. I'm all for small portions if the flavors are outstanding, but they basically just tasted like bacon and tartar sauce, since they had small fried oysters, tartar sauce, and big chunks of bacon on them. The sauteed kale was totally lousy for $7 - it was like a heap of sauteed spinach, with not enough olive oil or garlic, and therefore was pretty bland. It looked like it belonged as a side dish to a piece of meat or some other entree, not a $7 dish in and of itself. Again, I will give the food another try if I make my way back to the area soon.

Service was pretty sparse for a new place. A thin, Hollywood-type guy was our waiter, and while he got out orders correct, he seemed disinterested in us and was often hard to find - we were in a hurry, so this was a definite issue. The hostesses were fairly attentive, as were the bar people.

Selection of beer is, as has been stated, very good. I'm spoiled by my regular watering hole - Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach - but objectively I have to give them credit where it's due. I ended up having a Dry Hopped Stone Old Guardian, a Ten Fidy, and a Hop 15, all good. My complaints come two-fold, however - they charge you $6 bucks, on average, for the rarer, stronger brews, and they give any beer that has a moderately high ABV or price in what amounts to just above a half-pint style glass. Yes, you may not need more beer when they're that strong, but for the amount given they should be more like $4-$5. Secondly, it seems like they have a great potential to drop the ball with the way they're handling how they list what's on tap - there's no chalkboard, just a list that is on the back of their food menu. They have a section called "On Deck" in the event that a keg blows, you can see what they'd likely put on, but it seems a bit unreasonable for the restaurant owners to expect themselves to constantly re-print and laminate menus like this.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed, but will return. I know that I didn't try some of the other food items I was eyeing and heard were great, so I'll have to next time.

Why haven't you been here yet? IT is my great honor to have been amongst the first BA's to get to try this place, if only the second to review it. Being a review for BA, I will focus a great deal on beer in my review. BUT, you cannot go wrong with the food here.

I ate at the former inhabitant restaurant here, Charcoal, and while the food was good, the place just felt somewhat off. Fast forward to now, and Adolfo Suaya has put together an all star lineup.

The place looks cool inside, not overly dark, but warm brick with great knick knack-y design and a great big bar at the back that invites you in. Then you sit. Now it's time for what really knocks you out and that is the edibles. An extensive menu features amazing (hot! what a concept for a pizza to come out at the right temperature) pizzas, along with phenomenal appetizers and some of the best pulled pork and burgers you've ever had. There's not a weak item on the menu. While the marrow wasn't there the second time I went, if it's on, GET IT. And make yourself and your guests happy by ordering what is maybe the best dessert I have ever had-- coconut rice pudding. The texture, the taste, everything about it is perfect.

NOW, you'll wanna have a libation while you're there. Sure, they've got an nice wine list and a full bar. BUT BUT BUT, you're on Beer Advocate-- have a beer. And, thanks to Ryan and Brandon of Verdugo, you have a tremendous selection of great craft beers for connoisseurs of all levels, served perfectly by a very knowledgeable staff, to choose from. It's pointless for me to point out the Foret, Hop 15, and Speedway Stout on when I was there, as with Ryan's input you'll never lack for an above average selection of great beers. And they will rotate frequently, allowing for a great variety to be experienced by the die hards amongst us.

AN excellent experience from a nascent bar and restaurant. I can only imagine what heights this place will reach as the months and years progress. An excellent entrant into the ever growing LA Beer Scene!

I had heard about this establishment opening, thanks in part to the BA Forums. This place held a gathering a week before, but it officially opened yesterday at 5pm...I walked in at 5:13pm and was acknowledged as the first official customer. Reader beware: there was no sign or block number in front of the place. It sits next to a sushi restaurant on the southeast corner of Sunset Blvd and Ivar Ave.

First off, what a cool and unique interior! Is this an art gallery, the secret garden, or an attic full of collectable pottery, books, toys, and stuffed animals your grandmother kept? A "U" shaped bar sits in back, where a cluster of two dozen taps can be found. With the help of Ryan from Verdugo Bar, the tap selection is very good. Let's see what I can remember...Speedway Stout, Celebrator, Prima Pils, Moylan's Harvest IPA, Hop 15, Avant Garde, Belhaven Stout, Foret, Wexford, Old Guardian, Aventinus. Drafts run from $6-8. On the menu, there's even a short list of beers "on deck". A handfull of bottled beers exist, mostly consisting of Belgians. Several types of glassware are used to serve the beer, and this being rather new, it doesn't surprise me the beer is in excellent shape. Not being served too cold helps matters too.

Be there from 5-7pm, when they have a killer happy hour. 50% off pizzas and draft beer during that time...score! After pints of Prima and Celebrator, plus a tasty thin crust pizza, I rapped it up. That would have cost me almost $30 any other time, but the happy hour made it around $14 plus tip.

The place was well-staffed during my visit. Very friendly, courteous, and easy to talk to. They were asking for opinions and first impressions from customers. There were a few of us at the bar, so I wasn't the only one there. Well, I came for the beer. But I also dig the decor and the pizza. And I certainly dig the happy hour. It's a long drive from my house, but those times I'm around here, I'll certainly drop in now and again. With Blue Palms, Verdugo, Wurstkuche, and now BoHo opening in LA over the last year, the city now has several good/very good places to find artisan beer.
