Wine Castle is my local go to store for new releases and when I want to grab a good bottle(s). Probably the most under rated bottle shop in the area IMHO. They have beers broken down by region with a good selection of Michigan, Belgian, and English beers. They do sell singles, which most shops do. The selection of Michigan singles is good.
I find the pricing to be on par with other stores other than Champagnes. New selections come in on Thursdays and Fridays. Most of the staff have a better knowledge of product than the other stores in the area, except for Joe who knows his beers and new releases. He makes goood recommendations if you are looking for a good example of a style.

I like Wine Castle, If I was a wine drinker I'd love it. Since I like craft beer, I go to wine stores because they tend to carry better beer. Wine Castle is no exception. They have a great wine selction, but that's not why I go there.
They have a friendly staff and good service. A few empty boxes were on the floor but nothing bad.
I'd prefer more of a cold beer selection, other than that I'd recommend Wine Castle. I like buying larger bottles to share with friends so I'd like to see more larger bottles as well. Prices were about what you'd expect.

Humble appearing suburban liquor store. Huge variety of beers inside. One aisle devoted entirely to Belgian, German and English beers. Even more space to craft beers and others. Coolers with macros as well as better known regional/craft brewers.
Most all of Michigan breweries were represented. Also Dogfish, Rogue, Breckenridge, Unibroue, and many others.
Tough for me to compare prices since Michigan charges more for taxes, bottle deposits etc. List price for Old Curmudgeon four-pack was $15.99 which seemed reasonable.

This was my first visit to the Wine Castle, mainly I wanted to compare it with the other quality stops in Detroit. It turns out Wine Castle deserves good billing, there was an immense selection of beers. About 600 to choose from, including the best selection of Fantome in Detroit this week, also lots of Double Crooked Tree which I didn't see anywhere else, and tons of hard to find eastern european beers. The prices are par for Detroit, no worries unless you're comparing with Champane's. Highly recommended on the west side.

Wine Castle has an enourmous selection and keeps up to date with the latest releases of craft beer. They carry a wide variety of imports mainly German, English and an Impressive Belgian collection. I really enjoy how they concentrate there efforts on Michigan and craft beer in general. They also have a multitude of wine. As far a a homebrew shop they are lacking in some fo the basics but I try to keep them in busness and trun ofver thier inventory, but just ask and they will be glad to help you out in getting anything that they don't already have. Thier service is impecable, I have never left here unhappy. And best of all there prices are fairly reasonable. Enjoy if you stop by.
