Had a liter of this on Friday night, it was a nice tasting pils. Not as dry herbal hop bitterness as I was expecting. It did pour a brilliant gold crystal clear body with a bright white head forming thick, fine even lacing lines the sides of the glasses. Aroma was a nice subtle breadiness amongst clean herbal hops with a touch of earthy/grassiness. Flavor suprisingly caramel notes within a nice biscuit malt profile, moderate hop bite finished balanced between the caramel edge and the herbal hops. I was expecting something dry but this was a nice malty balanced hopped pils. Mouthfeel was perfectly quaffable for this stemy summer night in the biergarten next to the river. Overall high quality offering I'm glad I tried the seasonal also very happy with their lager and hefeweizen on this visit.

On tap @ the Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh on 7/18/09. Served in a giant liter mug.

Pours a clear copper, with a creamy finger of brite-white foam. Retains with a big frothy look, that leaves some good lacing back in thick swathes down the sides of the mug. The aroma is bread and floral spice, with a tinge of citurs. Touch of yeast floats along the back. Flavors mix nicely in the nostrils, with a moderate deepness to it.

The taste is tight pils malts, which spreads out in a nice bready bloom into the back, along with some citrus tang. A rigid dose of spicy noble hop bitterness runs throughout, lending the profile a balancing crisp bite. Finishes with some residual sweetness and then a lingering spicy dryness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a firm crispness up front. This then spreads out into a much creamier feel towards the back of the swallow, which really helps keep this mot drinkable. Pretty spot on feel.

Well I guess if your going to sell beer in liter increments, you better make damn sure that it's tasty and quaffable. I'm happy to report back that my first beer from these guys was a resounding success! Really solid effort of a Czech Pils here. Crisp, tasty, and refreshing, I could have easily hoisted a few more mugs of this.

Pours a hazy orange-ish color with an off white head. In the aroma, malty sweetness and a small hop note. In the taste, pils and pine like hops, small caramel roast going from sweet to dry. A nice hop bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a sei dry fresh hop in the aftertaste. A nice roasty pils, with a nice pine hops.

This is one of the summer seasonals at the Hofbräuhaus in Pittsburgh, it is served during the month of July.

Served on-tap in a liter mug.

A yellow-gold body that is very translucent with a few active carbonation bubbles. Greater tan two fingers of bone white head that doesn't have the greatest retention, but still manages to leave some scraggly pieces of lacing behind on the glass.

The aroma is a good mix of pilsner malts and noble hops. Light sweetness mixed with fresh cut grass.

The taste is pretty much spot on with the aroma. A bite of spicy, earthy noble hops with the faint taste of grass comes up first, but is followed by an equally flavorful backbone of light, sweet pilsner malts. Very well balanced.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and moderate carbonation for the style.

Everything the Hofbräuhaus serves is pretty damn drinkable, and so far everything I've tried has been pretty good, and this one is no exception. I'm not sure if I would have pegged this for a Bohemian Lager or not, but it is good either way.

A-golden with a big foamy off-white head.

S-high quality grains with a touch of grassy hops. Smells perfect actually.

T-wow this is actually just wonderful. Comes in with a great taste of bohemian grains and grassy hops. It's not too bitter. It's a great balance of high quality ingredients.

M-great creamy medium carbonation with a creamy finish.

O-this is a great beer all around. I got a whole liter of it, and it was great all the way to the bottom. It's not as bitter as some may like their pilsners, but the flavors are still great and of high quality.

Draught @ Brewhouse: This one poured a clear, golden color. There was a large white frothy head on it. It left some lacing. There was some sweet malts to the nose as well as some faint grassy hops. The taste is pretty clean, with a slightly lighter body. Some sweet malts to the taste, with a hint of bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking.
