Grabbed this on on tap during my "Beer Extravaganza" Weekend in Pittsburgh. Poured it into a half liter mug.

A: Clean and crisp black color. Crimson and amber hues around the edges and the bottom depending on how you hold it in the light. A full two to three inches of thick creamy frothy head sits perched on top, sinking back into the beer unevenly, leaving peaks and valleys in the foam.

S: Muted smell of roasted malts. There are some pale grains in there as well. Yeast strains overwhelm pretty much everything else that could be in there.

T: Good strong roasted malts are heavy up front. Sasz and other German hops add another layer to the flavor. German yeast strains spice up the beer nicely, and there is a caramel character in the finish.

M/D: Creamy and rich. So smooth that there is not even a tingle from the carbonation. Definitely a good session beer. I enjoyed everything about this from the texture to the flavor to the smell. A very balanced schwarzbier, with a great roasty flavor that is nicely complemented by the rest of the beer.

Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours a clear brown color with a large tan head. It left a fair amount of lacing. The aroma was good. Some chocolate and caramel malts to the nose. The taste was good. Chocolate, roasted malts, a hint of caramel malt sweetness. A nice brew and very easy to drink.
