Draft at a craft beer bar in Amsterdam along a canal. A rich, darker version of the style. Super strong, sugary, and malty like a classic tripel. For a mass produced version, this isn’t bad. There are better but this drinks well.

Fruity and spicy yeast notes. Tried at a bar in The Netherlands out of a bottle.

330ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe chalice. A: Amber, hazy, medium thick head which disappeared fairly quickly, left some lacing. S: Esters and phenols, quite pronounced. T: Sweet and yeasty in a typical Belgian manner, fruity, hid the booze incredibly well. M: Thick texture, low carbonation. O: Fairly subtle and very drinkable.

Nov. 2009: 750 ml corked bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9.5%. Pours with a huge white head, which slowly gives way to a golden beer. Pleasant typical triple aroma of Belgian yeast, fruit and a mild spiciness. The flavour is fresh and fruity, again with a mild spiciness, alcohol is noticeable but not overwhelming. Moderately sweet, the finish is slightly peppery, with moderate hops.

Pours a clear copper color with a creamy light tan head that laces the glass nicely. The nose features some pear, caramel, vanilla, and has a nice yeast note.
The pear is forward on the taste, with the caramel and vanilla following, and that nice yeast flavor puts a nice finish to this flavorful tripel.
The mouthfeel is velvety smooth, spot on for the style. This is a lovely tripel I’d gladly revisit again.

Lightly hazed gold appearance with a large white head and very good lacing. Yeasty, spicy aroma with soft citrus notes. Tart apple flavor, some yeastiness before giving way to the more spicy aftertaste. Not feeling that 9.5% abv yet. Dry, full bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel that is lush and velvety on the tongue. Long lasting, slightly sour, finish. Okay, now dealing with the abv.

How strange - this is the first review of this gem of a beer in over five years!
L- Clear, bright deep amber, with 2Cm white pillowy foam head (holds well).
S- Spicy, aromatic timber, complex and deep
T- Wow, this is lovely! It's all the Smell facets^ directly presented as Taste facets. It has great balance too, pungent and deep, ideal for slow-sipping. In fact I reckon this would too good and too hefty an ABV% and flavour for most people to rush.
F- Superb balance between hefty taste and parallel body. It's clearly a higher ABV% beer on the palate but it does it in a classy way, at no point do you get a feeling it's OTT on any aspect.
O- I really enjoyed that a great deal. I hope to be able to buy this again, and will rate it accordingly so it's (hopefully) on my Top-30/repeat Shopping List.
The lable has changed, it's now dark blue and silvery grey. The ABV has also changed, it's now 9.0%. The bottle is now tall, slender and 300ml.
