Affligem is a heineken owned brewery.. but hell at some 130 breweries and counting, there's a lot of beer under there umbrella. I wouldn't let their parent shape your experience of this beer as it's a good one.
Pours an attractive, lightly hazy golden colour. The big head dissapated to a ring of foam leaving some lace down the side of the Affligem branded chalice style glass. Smells of alcohol, pears and estery prune will greet you in the nose. The taste has much more however.
Plenty of fruit up front, candy sweetness transitions well to a sour and bitter finish which dissipates quite quickly. Quite nice. Balance is right on. The mouthfeel is good, fine carbonation makes it drinkable without being prickly. Just make sure you allow the beer some time to warm up.
All in all a good representation of the style.
