This was my first foray into the Tripel realm and i still don't even know why its called a Tripel.
I was surprised by the color, poured like any old american style beer. Quite frankly i got worried because it looked like a bud in my glass and i can't stand bud, ever. Mostly i found out it was because i can't drink rice based beers. A brewer for Bud actually suspected that and let me know when i told him what i preferred to drink.
The smell was a pleasant aroma of hops. I say pleasant because i find alot of beer that smell a bit too hopsy for my nose.
Now where to begin on taste...i would say that i was again surprised by the taste but in a great way. It was a bit on the sweet side and lighter than most all my beer/ale/lager that i drink.
This went down very smooth for something that comes in a bottle the size of a wine bottle, corked like a champagne, and alcohol content that will rock your head on an empty stomach.
Overall a good tasting beer, very drinkable.
