Straw blond. Irony smell. Too much alcohol in a too sweet first taste. Faint herbs, some poor yellow fruit. Not a great tripple to my opinion.

Having had the Postel Blonde and Dubbel I wasn't expecting much from this beer which is why I served it up at an impromptu beer tasting after a Christening I attended.

The 33cl bottle was poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru badged stemmed tulip, with very little sediment leaving the bottle.

The result, a dark golden body, with a slight cloudy haze to it, almost an amber colour: a thin white head on top.

Amazing aromas of Belgian yeasts and malty sweetness.

The taste was typical Tripel, an alcoholic front with a sweetness that turns a little harsher as the mouth drys. I had the Lions share, but my two friends also thought it a good solid Tripel.

Mouth and bodyfeel were both fine, so much better than the other beers I've had in this series.

This is a pretty good triple.

Opened the bottle and got almost a little gusher. Poured in my Maredsous glass the head is one finger thick and nice white. The beer itself is with a bit of carbonation.

The smell is with a hint of vanilla and spices, not much.

Better than average taste. this beer is nice to try when you see it somewhere. Not the best but OK.

Pours a clear golden color with a crisp white head that fades leaving a fair amount of lacing around the glass.

Smell is of corn, honey, some floral notes maybe?

Taste is of yeast, fruity esters. It's a bit spicy. Floral bitterness toward the end. Corn maybe? The finish is dry and lingers with a sweet floral aftertaste.

No presence of alcohol and very drinkable. A nice clean refreshing beer.

i saw this beer in a few places and even saw their schwag in a few dutch bars so i'm a little surprised its only been commented on 4 times - review entered from some notes on the back of a receipt from at Proeflokaal De Zotte in Amsterdam

appearance: hazy golden body, a little murky, light orange hues

smell: belgian yeast, white pepper, a touch of honey, orange peel and other citrus

taste: light tropical fruits but more orange/citrus, mild belgian spices, white pepper...it didnt dissapoint

mouthfeel: crisp and alive

drinkability: good

A: Pours a golden, hazy brew with a decent head that gets smaller but refuses to disappear completely. Some of the foam clings to the glass only to slowly slide back down afterwards.

S: Spicy with a slight sweetness and hints of citrus fruits. Some yeasty notes emerge as the beer warms. A classic nose for a good tripel if ever there was one.

T: Spicy at first, with notes of malt & yeast. The fruity aspects detected in the smell -although present- are less apparent in the taste. A hoppy bitterness in the finish balances the beer out almost perfectly. A subtle kick of alcohol warms the throat somewhat and makes you feel snug. (At least, it made me feel that way.)

M & D: Medium bodied with a vivid carbonation, this beer is an excellent partner with a number of different cheeses. Quite drinkable partially thanks to the fact that its relatively high alcohol percentage is so well-hidden. Nevertheless, not very fit as a session brew. The beer can however serve well enough as a palette-cleanser if you don't mind the lingering bitterness.

Hard to fault this beer. It's an excellent brew and one of the best (in not thé best) examples of the style. Usually better than the inconsistent Westmalle Tripel and more true to the style than some of my other favourite tripels (Gouden Carolus Tipel & Tripel Karmeliet)

Worth seeking out, you won't be disappointed.

Sorry but this following comment is in french :

Appearance : bière à la robe blonde cuivrée, mousse abondante tenant peu, dégagement gazeux important
Smell : nez fruité, malt et houblon
Taste and mouthfeel : ronde en bouche, levure, l'alcool est présent, belle et logue amertume
Drinkability : une bonne bière dans le style tripel

A slightly murky beer with orange, golden hues and a creamy, glass-sticking head and a lot of carbonation.

Smell is vanilla and honey with a sweetish smell. There is a clear Belgian yeast profile, which gives the beer a peppery and spicy smell.

Taste is malty with some slightly alcoholic notes with a nice alcohol warming kick. Mouthfeel is really creamy. It has some honey and vanilla taste. The bitterness is more than I would expect for a strong pale ale, but it makes it stick out of the masses. The Belgian yeast gives the beer a great character which is spicy and slightly peppery. The yeast itself adds a nice mouthfeel, which on the other hand is a little too full-bodied to be highly drinkable. Nice beer though!

Best before 27-11-05. Brew poors in without any problem into a wonderfull beerappearance: Beautifull, thick and snowwhite head and a golden beercolor with hints of orange and litle opalizing.
Smeel in very stylelike and fresh giving you koreander together with a orangecitrussym hopyaromes and some maltyness.
Taste is rich too; pale matly, dry, alcoholic before going into a fine and intense bitterness. Well worth trying as well as visiting the monastry witch has great cheese and bread with it!
