Found it here in Serbia, bottle 0,33 l
A - Caramel color with decent bubbly brown foam. Medium carbonation.
S - Chocolate malt, some smoke in the back. Dark malts, but not too strong.
T/M - Warm, high alcohol aroma. Aromatic, dark fruits, dark malts. High carbonation, but refreshing, probably from second fermentation in bottle.
O - Surprisingly well.

Average pedestrian dubbel (which isn’t a bad thing). Amber color, minimal head. Aroma of roast malt, toffee, caramel, wood. Taste is smooth and buttery, wood , and malt. Very good.

The second beer in a 'Random reviewing evening' on the bottles best before date of 22 Oct 2010.
The brown 33cl bottle was poured into a 'Hoegaarden Grand Cru' stemmed tulip. The whole sediment base flew out of the bottle and the ruby red body in the glass was awash with floating lumps of grist. The head on top was a huge mound of tan coloured bubbles and as the beer settled the look got brighter and clearer.
Sadly the beer just had a cheap feel to it, the smell was a sweet almost sickly yeast mix. The taste was also very sweet and sickly, it had a nasty bilious aftertaste too.
Not impressed at all.

This is a medium dark beer that I enjoyed while firing up the grill for the first time since we moved. It has a very good taste, probably due to the low (by Belgium standards) ABV. Nice color with a good head, but the head fades fairly quickly. Not a standout by Belgium standards, but definitely an easy beer (or two) while outdoors.

A light nose of caramel and sweet wine announces a beer but not sickeningly sweet, despite the addition of caramel syrup in the drink. Yeast is present in the mouth enough to give a rather strange taste, halfway between tannins and hints of caramel coming especially in the finish, the latter being relatively dry. Affligem brewed by on behalf of Delhaize chain distribution shows once again his respect for the consumer.

A homebrew buddy snagged this unheard-of beer on a trip through Belgium and hauled it back stateside. Score!
Florival pours a dingy orange, hazy and with copper highlights. A small head sports decent retention.
The smell is at turns complex and bewildering. It's very sweet, with a perfumey, flowery scent and a strange spice that lies heavy over everything. Cumin? Coriander? Cinnamon? Maybe all of the above. Maybe none of it. Pungent and rich, complex and puzzling.
The taste defies the smell by being not-very sweet, instead it's a semi-dry, yeasty and grainy brew that has hints of toasted grain and smoke. Practically makes you do a double take to make sure you are, in fact, drinking what you sniffed earlier. It's not a beer I'm enjoying terribly, but it sure threw me for a loop.
Mouthfeel is medium-full with a pretty high carbonation level.
Florival Brune is a Strange Brew and unlike any other beer I've had. It's not terribly "good", but it's certainly different. Try if you can; and if you can nail down what those elusive spices were, I want to know!

Appearance: Served from a 33 cl bottle into a 25 oz crystal sniffer. The beer is a clear dark amber color with an off white fluffy head. Decent head retention and decent lacing, but barely above average.
Smell: Roasty sweet malty aroma with a tart and earthy scent to back it up.
Taste: Malty, creamy and lightly roasty to open. There's a sharp ripe cheese flavor and a dry hop ending with some bitterness. The hop flavor is grainy and earthy with a moist mushroom flavor.
Mouthfeel: Clean and dry on the palate, on the light end of medium bodied with a sandy feel.
Drinkability: Good but not great. Worth the taste I had of it, but I wouldn't really recommend that anyone goes looking for this beer.

Has a dark brown color with marvelous ruby highlights when light passes thru it. Topped by a lovely creamy light brown head. The aroma is full of dried fruit spices and some malt caramel undertones. The taste is suprising with a burst of chocolate at he start. Then there is a quick hop spiceyness followed by general spice group of flavors. The finish is smooth like silk.
This bottle was a gift to me from a friend who just returned from Belgium. Some research tells me this is bottled for a supermarket chain (DelHaize) in Belgium by the Affligem Group.
The label states " Biere d'Abbaye" and "Abdij bier". Under the name "Florival" are the words "Brune-Bruin".
