A light, flowery aroma comes off the bright white head, which is substantial and lasting.

The ale is a slightly hazy golden color with just enough cloudiness to make it luminescent when held up to a light.

Easily quaffed, this classic Belgian Blond is refreshing and lively, with just enough malt to give a smoothness to the bittering hops, which are nicely balanced. A good choice for a summer picnic.

The lable on this bottle says 6.8% abv, a little less than the 7% shown on the BA listing (not that it matters much). The "produced on" code could be a little more user friendly. What date is 9 331 02?

Appearance: Produced a finger and a half of head that quickly settled down and stuck around at a half finger for a good long time. Very nice amounts of lacing on this one but the treasure here is the body that boast ample well distributed carbonation in it's slight hazy brassy orange colour.

Smell: A yeasty bread smell with some fruit and white grape notes are present. That's really it, I mean it's nice and all, and it comes out more as the beer warms, but it doesn't really quite strike me as anything more then basic.

Taste: It starts with a shot dose of biscuit malt with a fruit overtone as orange and tangerine notes are present. The yeast then kicks it into overdrive as peaches and pears make their presence known as the beer rounds off with a dusting of cloves and a slight sprinkle of floral hops.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is aggressive, almost too much so. It does help the whole beer out but it's something worth noting. The ending of the beer snaps on you and seems a bit rocky to me as well. The mild fruity yeast aftertaste though makes up for these shortcomings.

Drinkability: The carbonation is really high and while it helps the taste of the beer, it leaves me with a bit of an tickling foamy sensation in my stomach and throat. That's really my only complaint, but it certainly didn't prevent me from indulging in more.

Final Thoughts: It almost strikes me that this beer probably was made to be opened, poured, left to settle down and warm up substantially before drinking. I agree, many beers should be warmed before serving, but this stuff seems to be looking for room temperature which is a bit too much in my book. It's still a good beer, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't rank this amongst one of the better Belgian's I've tried.

330ml bottle. Augustijn Chalice glass. Golden color, clear appearance. White head, moderate retention. Aromas of yeast, slight fruit & spices. Sweet malty & crispy upfront. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily to watery. Fruit in the middle, herbal bitterness linger into a dry bitter finish. Alcoholic heat on the aftertaste. An average Belgian Blond.

I found this on the bottle list at Unos of all places. Poured into a pint glass (unfortunate I know) with a golden straw color with very visible carbonation and a single finger head which left decent lacing. The aroma is of yeast, fruit and spices with a flavor to match. The yeast comes through very strong in the flavor along with the spices and only hints of fruit. I greatly enjoyed this one and will be looking for it at my local bottle shop.
