Mata Brown Boy is a luscious full flavoured amber ale that pours a striking reddish brown. The specialty 4 malt blend brings caramel, toffee-like, malty characteristics balanced by refreshing hop flavour and aroma, medium bitterness, and a dash of pepper from NZ’s indigenous horopito. Kiwi magic!

On tap at the Fork & Brewer in Wellington.

Pour was dark brown with excellent clarity and a very good tan head.

Mild yet spicy aroma. Flavor also a bit spicy, perhaps a bit much spciing for the malt level. Some spicy NZ hops too.

Feel: crisp; near medium body; a bit too much bite.

O: very interesting and surprisingly spicy brown ale. Certainly worth trying.

Pours brown with a small, off-white head.
Nose shows toasty malt, caramel and nutty notes along with grapefruit, spicy and floral hops.
Flavours include toasty malt, bready notes, grapefruit and herbal hops.
Could use a lighter body, feels a bit thick.
