I see some hate on here for the prices, and yes this is true, but I think it's because of PAs laws. I haven't been anywhere else I can really find stuff cheaper. Sometimes Abe's competes, but it's never significantly cheaper and usually the same price or slightly higher. There really is no service, but if there's someone in the beer section stocking the shelves they at least help you out. I couldn't find Indian Brown Ale once and the guy knew right where it was, since DFH had its only little rack not with the East Coast micros. Well organized for the most part, PA micros, West coast, East coast all separate. Then a section for bombers and imports.

The great thing about this place is its very well kept and attached to a super market and a restaurant type area where you can get pretty good subs and sushi and pizza and some other less generic stuff. They have what I have to assume is a great selection for a large super market. People need to remember they aren't a specialty beer store, but sometimes they're stocked like one. They carry most of Stone's lineup, seen Vertical Epic 11.11.11 and Double Bastard, AB, Ruination, etc. Bell's, Founders, Victory, Weyerbacher, Terrapin, Dogfish Head, and others are all well represented. I often go to Wegs to get a sub or sushi and love being able to walk out knowing my beer shopping is also taken care of, because they stock the stuff I drink on a daily basis (Stone, Founders, Bell's, SN). They also have a cold section where you can pick up some of the craft selections that are also room temp and BMC. Other good part is that you can get it until 10 pm any day of the week, when the distributors are only open until 9 usually and earlier on Sunday. 12 pack of Yuengling for 9.99 (which includes tax) isn't pricey, similar prices for BMC.

I guess you can blame the prices on our absurd beer laws in PA. The selection is great, being an IPA freak. They have bells 2 hearted, green flash and most PA breweries are represented. Don't count on any help, it's a supermarket. One time I was there they had a guy pushing some big brewer's version of a good beer done poorly. I think they are there to get you to try some kind of beer that they did poorly and decide it sucks and not try the same style done well by a craft brewer.
But it's a great selection and, since we do some of grocery shopping there you can't beat the convenience. And it's nice to be able to buy sixes in PA.
And they always have HopDevil....

In honor of The Band...

[I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead;
I just need some place where I can lay my head.]

Never thought I would be in the town referenced by The Band in The Weight...

Anyways, I was in Nazareth, PA on a Sunday night after watching football all afternoon and having that corresponding 'been drinking and eating all day kinda buzz'. We stopped by and I was glad to finally have the chance to check out Wegmans. I had heard some pretty good things about this store and it lived up the expectations. Really good quality, reminding me of a specialty type supermarket store (think Whole Foods or Highland Park for a CT reference, yet better and more affordable).

The beer selection has it's own area in the corner of the store. This place had to have the best selection I have ever seen in a supermarket/grocery store. Nice selection of Belgians and craft beer variety. I was especially pleased to find Bells Kalamazoo Stout, Porter and Two Hearted Ale (Bell's doesn't distribute to MA). Nice job representing the local breweries like Lancaster Brewing Company, Victory and Yuengling. Noticed they had a couple displays showcasing Fall and Octoberfest brews. Extensive selection of great 22 oz bombers (Stone, Green Flash, Rogue, etc.) too.

I was inspired from the Yuengling a brewery tour the day before and stocked up the Yuengling Lager, Chesterfield Ale, Porter and Black & Tan (also can't get Yuengling in MA).

Like I mentioned earlier, this has to be the best selection I've seen in a supermarket. I left satisfied.

My perverbal stomping grounds and supply for craft beer at school. The selection is better than decent. A wide variety of six and four packs are available. The majority of the shelf space are the usual suspects BMC and generic exports, but its a small price to pay because they carry most of the other PA craft breweries. There are also a precious few flagships from noted breweries around the country. The store has a decent turn over and an amazing knack for acquiring seasons. The whole layout is reshuffled to make room for the Fall and Winter. A friendly reminder of the changing weather.

The main qualms are the price/service. The prices are really steep for a budgeted BA. An $11 six pack for the average low gravity craft beer is borderline ridiculous. And the service is awful, you just might be treated like a criminal. I have received a call or text on the floor while selecting and the staff automatically assume I am buying for the enjoyment of the underage. I know where they are coming from but being denied every time said event occurs is ridiculous.

In there defense I do look younger and they are only looking out for their license, which is one of the first in the Lehigh Valley and for Wegmans. The prices can also be somewhat attributed to the PA Law.

Bottom Line - One of the best and only places to find six packs of beers and able to shop for food at the same time is a slam dunk. If your searching for a fresh seasonal, I'll see you in there.
