This is one of my favorite destinations in Charlotte. Unfortunately its a little outside my normal area of operations but I take every opportunity I get to visit. It is located in this unique little shopping village situated on a man made lake. The patio overlooks the lake and there are ducks, swans, etc. swimming around so if you kave kids they will enjoy watching/feeding them. The food is really good, better than you would expect and priced very reasonably. This is not an expensive place. They have daily beer specials, and their beer list is legit. Several craft on draft and much more in bottles. Approx. $3 a beer. Cracking open a cold one and sitting out on the patio soaking up some rays while the babies throw bread to the ducks is the thing to do here (or just as good without babies I'm sure). The Flying Saucer is nearby so if possible you could make it a one-two punch. I prefer this place because its a little nicer but obviously the beer list at the Saucer reigns supreme. You will have no trouble finding a brew you like here though. There is an Ann Taylor outlet nearby so I have found it effective to use that to lure my wife to the area, then work in Boardwalk Billys.

Stop in here regularly when visiting my brother this last week. This is a nice place to get some draft beer at a decent price.
A- Nice village like location on a man-made lake that has a boardwalk surrounding it. Sporty interior would make this a great sports bar on game day. Peanut shell are everywhere due to the eat them and throw um' kinda deal.
S- Service is average due to College bartenders who would rather hang with there friends that work. Needless to say they knew how to take a credit card in the end.
Q-S- Quality and selection where good with excellent beer selections on tap. To name a few Fat Tire, Hoptober, Sam Adams Octoberfest, Sweetwater 420, blue, and other american light beers as well.
F- Fresh seafood and good bar grub is readily available. Good overall place to drink it up.

Stopped in for dinner one Wednesday night, with the family
Located at a man made lake in University City
Atmosphere: Very beach, boat, seafood, sports bar, beer motif ... Very nice feel, views over the lake are very nice... My wife and kids are not much for beer bar atmospheres but they all liked this one. Well balanced.
When you walk in your are right at the bar, to the left is tables and booths and a door leading onto a deck that is over the water. We sat at the back of the place by a big window over looking the lake (my son's choose)
Quality: Very good for a bar/restaurant.. Very clean, even with peanuts on the floor...
Service: Service was good, very nice staff....
Selection: Beer selection was pretty good... the normal stuff but a few very nice micro brews... Highlands, Bell's, Red Oak, Sam Adams, Newcastle "Summer Ale"... Not a great deal but not bad
Food: Food was very good.... Kid's liked there food, wife loved her salad and I enjoyed my CheeseSteak... Over good....
Value: Family of 4, out the door for 35+ with 1 Newcastle Summer ale... Not to bad.
Over all a very nice place, laid back and great view. Looks like a good place to hang and have a beer....

I have been here plenty of times in the past but didnt think this place belonged on beeradvocate. I see it here now so maybe I missed something on my previous 10 visits. We'll see.
Atmosphere is still pretty killer. Inside is pretty cramped and very smoky. Outside, however, is where its at. This restaurant is right on the pond here and the view is pretty nice. Sunset is a nice time to be here as the weather cools. The middle of summer can be brutal.
Service was still pretty sorry and the selection was definitely as I remember it; pretty bad. They every imagineable macro on draft; Sam, Sierra, Guinnes, Fat Tire, Newcastle, etc. The bottle selection is a bit better but nowhere near great. The only local beer I saw was Carolina Blonde.
Think of this place as a frat boy sort of place that has every beer known (key word is known) with no real micro appeal.
If you can get an outside seat then go here. Otherwise, go to Flying Saucer.
