This is one of my favourite beer for the summer.
Clear golden yellow with little foam that quickly disappears and medium carbonated.

It smells of lemon and tequila (in fact has a small percentage of tequila) and the aftertaste is persistent but not too strong.

Very drinkable it pairs very well with pizza or a steak in a warm summer night.

A: Poured from a bottle into a pint glass in the Bierhaus pub in low altitude Galway, Ireland, On November 11th, 2010. Pours a five finer, creamy head of moderate thickness. Gould colour and appealing.

Sm: Quite nice scent of moderate strength with notes of freshness and brilliance, very fizzy, like a fine champagne, with just a hint of faux (read: fake) agave. It's bold and very appealing. I like it.

T: Very nice cream into a champagne like note of brilliance. Not like tequila at all (at least not real tequila - and by that I don't mean patron). Very well balanced, if not as complex as it ought to be. It's strangely built for a Euro Pale Lager (as it's classified here on BA), but I find this classification inaccurate. It's a unique and bold beer, and it succeeds at what it's trying to do. It is what it needs to be. I love it.

MF: Cream goes to the fizzy brilliance, with an excellent finish that is as wet and smooth as it needs to be.

Dr: Please, let me have another. But lower the price! I don't know why all the other reviews are so poor, but I genuinely think this is a great and underappreciated beer. It challenges the conventions of what a beer "ought to be" according to the snobs. If you're truly a beer-lover, you really ought to give this one a try, if only to see how they handle the unique flavour of tequila (or perhaps more importantly, how they hide it beneath the mouthfeel).

Stopped into a bar for an afternoon beer after visiting the Reina Sofia in Madrid. This was the most expensive beer on the menu, so naturally, this is what I ordered.

A - Darker than a Corona, but looks like a Mexican beer.

S - Sweet agave nectar. This says its flavored with tequila on the bottle, but is very apparent in the nose.

T - Sweet. I can imagine drinking this on a hot summer day. However, this is too sweet to drink more than one bottle. If Corona is too skunky for you, you might enjoy this brew. If you don't like sweet beers, this isn't for you.

M - Actually somewhat heavy compared to how it looks.

O - Interesting beer available abroad. Probably can't drink more than one.

I've seen these six-packs around for a while, and for some silly reason, Tequila flavoured beer from France just seems like one massive marketing gimmick...but I'll have one at the bar, apparently...

This beer pours a clear light amber hue, with a copious amount of puffy white head, which renders some nice consistent webbed lace around the glass as it melts away. It smells of slightly acrid lime juice, and a mild herbal booziness. The taste is fairly authentic lime, caramel malt, a bit of plain sugar, and a tinge of that herbaceousness that I'll have to attribute to the Tequila additive. The carbonation is moderate, the body just a bit south of medium weight, and the finish is off-dry, fruity (lime, natch), and reminiscent of margaritas.

Well, not the car wreck I was anticipating. This is actually not a bad tipple, the overall effect to me is that of a decent (I know) lime lager - the Tequila sure wasn't very evident, as I have a pretty strong aversion to that particular flavour.

The best part about this whole deal is, however, the ingredients listed on the bottle: the first listed is "Beer." Well, no shit.

A - Not a bad-looking golden body and a soapy white head. Loads of lively small bubbles rising. Surprisingly, the head retention is not that bad, and the lacing is very nice.

S - A bit skunky. Smells fruity, very much like a shandy/radler/clara beer-lemonade mix. Loads of lemon, lime and just a hint of that agave tequila smell. Some malts in the nose, but virtually no hops are apparent, being overpowered by the fruitiness.

T - Very sweet and fruity. Again, this is surprisingly similar to a shandy/radler, etc type beverages. Some pale malts are pronounces, and the tequila flavour is still rather subtle, although it grows a little with time. The finish is dry and has the lime sourness to it.

M - Light-to-medium bodied. The carbonation is quite pleasant overall. But the 5.9% kind of takes away from the mouthfeel.

D - Alright but not that impressive. Again, the ABV is too high for such a fruity and summery beer.

Overall, I didn't find it as bad as most reviewers did. This could make a good summer refreshment.

330ml bottle poured into tulip 6/7/13

A greenish hints in a yellow body, not any bubbles but there's more then I can see because a thumbs width of foam sits for a few sips and leaves a few random patches of lace

S smells like 7up with added sugar, maybe just a little lemon but I'm not getting any tequila, just sweet citric sugar water

T some honey perhaps on top of what I smell but in all honesty I feel like I should be dumping some rye over ice cubes and topping my glass with this

M sweet and slick, cola like fizz and leaves my mouth slimy

O I thought this would be much worse, more like a clear citric pop then a beer but considering I thought it would be undrinkable I'm happy that It's easy enough to down

16$ a 6er +tax +deposit? I'd never buy this for any reason but I don't quite understand its reputation as one of the worlds worst.

A tequila flavoured beer from .. err, France.
Popping the cap would immediately trigger a big soapy head to begin rising slowly, trying (and eventually succeeding) in over stretching the long neck of the bottle. That big white soapy head would persist all the way to the very last sip, leaving clingy thick lacing the entire way down. The appearance, sharing the same colour, resembles tequila exactly (less the soapy head of course). The aroma is less than favourable really. It reminds me, in ways I can't quite describe, of so many other beers (some worse than others) that hail from France. It seemed to just share a certain "heir" that French beers carry. In more accurate description, the most predominant character in the smell is that of tequila. At 5.9% even the aroma is considerably subdued to the real thing, although the character is there. I'd have no problem drinking it from the bottle. The flavour also carries a strong tequila taste although comes across as for more favourable. It also has a very strong hint of lime. It almost resembles a Corona with a strong amping of lime. The other thing I found it reminiscent of is a shandy. With no alcohol really detectable and much of the flavour (tequila, lime) somewhat subdued it really reminded me of a shandy (half pop, half beer). Indeed, especially in the mouthfeel, it carried a real ginger ale like makeup. That would accurately sum up how the beer drank - the carbonation and how it went down, was really like drinking a shandy. The lime flavour was overwhelmingly acidic on a few sips.
This was actually far better than what my expectations had me assume. When I feel like a "beer" - even on a hot summer day - I couldn't really be satisfied with this. Although, even despite being (very) a sub-par beer this certainly would have it's place among many (myself, perhaps, included). I can't drink those "alco-pop" coolers (I find them far too sweet, sugary and artificial) but this Desperados beer would make a welcome substitute.

Very tangy- you can taste the citrus in it. The rest is almost indescribable. There is something very drinkable about this beer as it is quite sweet, and it is easy to quaff it down by the case load. A good starting beer, but like most i've had there aren't really any complex flavours to it. Very unique though, as the flavourings are the same that are used to flavour tequila.

The more of this I drink, the worse it seems to get. It has an odd aftertaste... but never fear! Add some lime or lime juice as you would reular tequila, clears up the aftertaste and finishes it off well.

How do I approach this one?

It's not really a beer, per se. More like a beer-tinged alcoholic soda. As such, it's a damn pain writing a review for this "beer" on this beer site. I'm going to take the less-popular route and review it as a drink rather than specifically as a beer. But thus, a caveat:

If you want a fine beer, this is not it.

That aside, it's a rather enjoyable drink, despite what some reviewers here might say. Just don't go in expecting a beer, because a beer is not what you will get.

It advertises itself as tequila-flavoured beer, but it's really more of a beer-flavored lime soda. It's very much an up-front taste, with something resembling a weak French lager as a base and a lime soda on top. There is no real nose to speak of; it's almost overwhelmed by the lime. The taste is actually rather decent -- not impressive or earth-shattering, but quite drinkable. It's far, far, far from the other D-averages around here, like Miller and Bud and Natty Light.

It also drinks like a soda, meaning it's watery and insubstantial, but also very drinkable. It's something you can sit and enjoy with a bud, but it's not something you'll remember as great.

Always assumed this was a Latino product until I read the fine print...french...NFW!

Certainly more honey golden than pale in color. ecent head and lacing holds it's own.

Mostly lime ( sorry BA's that called it Lemon...Lime is the natural bed-mate of Tequila Sheila)..with a hint of sweet malr in the background.

Too be perfectly honest it tastes more like one of those Tequila coolers than a beer infused with tequila. Some of that salty tequila twang mixed in with a heathly doese of lime. Any sort of beer/malt flavour doesn't make itself known until the after taste. Finishes dry, but long after that initial taste.

Other than an intial lime bite @ the front end it has a decent, almost refereshing feel.

Not sure I'd put this in the Euro Plae Lager category, but then where do you put it? Have to admit it would be killer served ice cold on a 30 celcius Medicine July afternoon, but then again I could probably make my own from some Kokanee. a splas of Tequila, and some store bought tequila lime mixer.

Desperados Tequila flavored Beer
.33 L bottle
€3,50 @ Dos Pescados, Berlin, Germany

First off, is this beer made with Tequila or not? The packaging reads both "Tequila Flavored Beer" and "Flavoured with Tequila" - not necessarily the same thing. However their website clearly states "Desperados is a beer flavoured with Tequila". Somehow I think it's a "tequila" flavoring. And that there's some lime flavoring added as well.

With that said, it was better than I thought it would be, but I didn't think it tasted like Tequila mixed into beer. On the other hand, I've never mixed Tequila and beer so I can't really say. There was some odd "woodiness" to it, and the previously noted lime, but not what I'd call "Tequila". Maybe cheap Tequila...

Overall I'd have to say that this is just a gimmicky beverage that will run its course and disappear shortly. Of course you never know. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're like me and you just have to try it to see what it's like I can give the go ahead for that. You probably won't want a second one, but it is easy to drink and you won't have any trouble finishing it.

Enjoyed while watching planes land at sunset beach st marteen.
A: single finger head on a clear pale golden body.

S: sweet and fruity. Not much else. Fairly aromatous

T: very sweet and syrupy. Mostly pineapple, apple and grape on a barely present malt background. The tequila can definitely be sensed in the finish.

M: light to medium body. Light to moderate carbonation.

Overall: very interesting beer. Not something you want or see everyday.

Fischer in France has put out some gimmicky beers in the past, and this seems to fit the mark. A pale lager with Tequila flavour. The bottle fits the South American-Mexican genre: clear with a green and red embossed label. The beer poured with a decent head, large bubbled. A clear honey colour. The head actually stayed quite nicely at about 4 cm, and did not seem to move till I drank from the glass; it was actually the best part of the beer, staying creamy and consistent throughout my drinking. The lacing is super-thick. The beer smells like a Mexican-style lager with lime in it. There is a soft hint of tequila, making for a unique if not wholly appetising aroma. However, the malting smells good enough: sweet and sugary, with just a touch of grassy hops in the background. The taste is like light lime-flavoured water at first. The finish is more palatable, with some good Pilsner-style maltiness and a little bitterness. This really tastes like lime-flavoured water though. The mouthfeel is light with a little carbonation. This is probably fine freezing cold on a hot day, but as for redrinking marks, this rates pretty low. Interesting concept, gimmicky execution.

Appearance: Light gold & very clear in colour with a finger-sized bubbly head that lasts. There is plenty of carbonation with this beer.
Aroma: Smells refreshing & fruity with a clear lime smell & a bit of a tequila smell as well although it is the artificial lime smell that dominates.
Taste: Has a very clear lime taste with a hint of tequila as you would expect. The aftertaste is of lime as well. The taste is similar to a normal lager with a lot lime juice added. It is very sweet.
Palate: This is a light bodied beer that has a lot of fizz to it, to much in my opinion although it quite smooth.

Overall: Strange but pleasant & refreshing beer although it is quite strong for the type.

Poured a nice head that lingered for a while and left traces. Pale yellow color.
Low carbonation. Strong lemon and tequila aroma. Flavor follow aroma, though it doesn’t taste it right, a little artificial. One step up would be to have this beer in real reposado tequila casks. So, end result was a Smirnoff ice type of beer, then you wonder…
On the good side, it seems they used just malts and the 5.9% alcohol cannot be felt, whatsoever.

A - Clear/pale gold with a decent sized white head that disappears fast.

S - Light, a lot of corn sweetness and lemon kind of smell. Maybe a hint of tequila (probably because I was searching for it).

T - Mostly a light lager type of taste with corn sweetness. A bit of lemon/lime citrus along with hints of tequila taste.

M - Light and high carbonation. Kind of watery but has a bit of a stickiness to it.

D - Has a weird sweetness and aftertaste (not cloying just weird). If it doesn't bother you, then it's drinkable. If you are like me and that doesn't sit right 1 maybe 2 if you are desperate would be enough for a night.

Notes: Is fairly reminiscent of a lemon/lime soda pop. Tequila isn't all that present, and I don't know if I would have detected any if I weren't looking for it. The weird lime sweetness is as bad as some of the American macro faux lime taste though.

I've never been big on Fischer beers and it seemed like this was just asking for grief, but what the heck.

It's basically a shandy, a beer cooler, candy in a bottle for the summer time crowd. Its best feature was its appearance, clear gold with a moderate head and rather impressive lacing (which surprised me).

Sweet and fruity across the board, but not cloying. Suitable for washing down a load of hot chicken wings, but not something to be seeking out.

Got this in Germany. I was getting a doener (similar to a gyro, only better), and saw this in the beverage case, figured what the heck, give it a try. Beer was a golden color with an okay head. Smell was almost citrusy and a smell of tequila. Taste had some honey to it and tequila to it. Mouthfeel, well, it was there, but it wasn't pleasant. Drinkability, sure, I was able to finish the bottle. It's not as terrible as it sounds but it's no where close to good.

Bottle of 330 ml, poured just half a glass for the review and the rest drank from the bottle.

Golden yellow colour with a two finger thick head, with very good retention. Lots of bubbles in the glass.
Smell is of lemon/lime, like it has a soft drink in it. maybe too strong of a smell.
Flavour follows the aroma, with a strong lime taste and somewhere on the back you can taste the tequila.
Medium thickness on the body and very light carbonation.
I don't see myself drinking this one any time soon, since I don't use to mix my beer with any other alcoholic drinks. Maybe if I was 15 again and this one was really really cheap, I would prefer it.

T: oh my!! Not at all what I was expecting. Definitely not of the style. Bitter, sour, and the floral aroma is definitely there in the taste like rose but it throws the taste completely off.

This beer was all over Germany when I was there it was popular in the clubs and in the one Mexican restaurant we had in Bamberg so when I recently saw this in a BeerStore in Canada I thought I would relive my youth. This stuff was better when I was drunk.

Appearance- Gold yellow with a quick head and a thin circle of lace. Very carbonated.

Smell- Very sweet more like tequila than beer. Fake lemon odor present too.

Taste- Malt Liquor, Tequila and lemon syrup like concoction. It was gross and the aftertaste was the gift that kept on giving.

Mouthfeel- Sticky but light and syrupy

Drinkability- Lessoned learded somethings from your past should be left alone.

A-Colorful Latin-themed happy-can with image of seals along the top made to look like medals. Pours a light clear gold with white head. Decent retention, bits of tracing.

S-This reminds me of margarita or mojito flavored chewing gum. Yes, I know, mojitos have rum, but there's that strong artificial lime aroma that dominates. I'm craving nachos.

T-The kid in me says "I like the sweet fruity flavor," but the BA adult in me cries "who would drink this," and "what is this swill?!" But to speak ill of this beer is equivalent to self-defamation...I used to like this stuff a long time ago, but my tastes have changed. It is beer for kids. In fact, I recall a little kid, probably 4, finishing off the last bit of a bottle left on his parents' table once, setting it down, and saying, "Mmm, that's good!" Sweet, citrusy (lemon/lime), just a touch of hops in the finish. I think I taste tequila, but only because it reminds me of margarita mix out of a plastic jug dumped into Bud.

M-Moderate carbonation, light-bodied. Cloyingly sweet and borderline syrupy.

D-Like I said, I used to find these highly drinkable, but then I grew facial hair. Might go well with nachos and guacamole, but not better than a real margarita or a decent lager.

The nose reminds a little lime and some strange and dubious Mexican condiments, the mouth is almost similar although the taste of beer, and that of tequila (although it is usually flavored with it), or completely absent. The finish is very sweet but the body seems very artificial and does not differ much in a simple lemonade somewhat boosted by a touch of alcohol.

From just the 2 other reviews, it seems like this beer belongs in hell. I, however, think it wasnt all that bad. I came out in a clear bottle and they brought out the brewers glass to pour it in (but it was just a fancy pint glass). Beer was golden and the head came out decent.
the taste was sweet, i thought like honey, but you could definetly taste the tequila they said they have it it... i still dont understand why a french beer has tequila in it. i think this one is one to try, but i gave it a bad drinkability because it cost like 7 euros for a bottle, and that it wasnt so balanced with the tequila.... tequila????

A = Pale straw colour

S = Fruitty, Tequila skunky Smelling Mess.

T = Fruit and honey taste with a faint tequila middle.

M = Very low carbonation. Man this is bad.

D = 8 Euros. Not good.

I have learnt my lesson. I will never drink novelty beers again. Ok.. Maybe the Chilli beer. I really wanna know how bad can it be?
