Have been going to all the Mac's since they opened and this one is setting the standard. Wonderful beer selection. 27 taps and most of them are rotating. Most of the girls know the basics and the bartenders are awesome. Have had the opportunity to meet the managers and man they get it. Place has a sports bar/biker bar feel but is clean and always has good music on. Food is always great and they run food specials almost every day. Try the Cuban when they have it. IMO the half price pints on Monday is the best deal around. This place is one the top craft bars in town.

Get the dry rubbed ribs, Holy crap they are the bomb! Not too salty, not too dry, just a down south flavor that is off the scale.
Never had beer here, always ordered for 2nd shift lunch.
Judging by the quality of the ribs, I would have no problem sitting down to a plate and a draft here!

This is a must visit stop when visiting Charlotte, NC

Tasty Q,burgers and a load of quality brews on tap, in bottles and cans.

Friendly, casual and comfortable atmosphere, with ample TVs with the game on.

Friendly and helpful staff....roll it all together and you have a top notch location to hit up for brew and food...great place for lunch, dinner, drinks...good for groups.

Not the best barbecue like I heard from everyone. Didn't hate it but have found others better. Beer was good.

I was visiting Charlotte to see a few buddies and asked one to take me to his favorite BBQ joint in town. First thing you notice are the waitresses! Not an unfit one in the place, I'm assuming that it's hiring requirement. Either way the women there are gorgeous and friendly. Now they had about 10 different brews on special/tap with what looked like at least 100 different bottles. They had a good representation of NC and regional breweries. The menu was BBQ heaven; all different styles. There was Memphis, NC, St. Louis, and TX. I had the Texas beef brisket with collards, and black eyed peas. I can still taste that good vinegar based sauce in my mouth. My buddies had pulled pork and St. Louis style baby backs. I tried a little of each and none dissapointed. I recommend this place to everyone!

Stopped here when in town for business. Stopped by here for the release of a special cask ale from Heavy Seas. The place was pretty raucous and loud when I went. Packed out, but I found a spot at the bar. A patio section sat out front and to the side. I didn't order any food this time as I had already eaten, but what everyone was eating around me looked good. I was here for the beer anyways. I was blown away by the selection at this place. They carried easily 100+ bottles of almost all-craft beer. Had about 10-12 bottles from Founders, including Devil Dancer, about 10 different Samuel Smiths, lots of Victory, Terrapin, Duck-Rabbit, Stone, Rogue, etc. They also had 27 taps with almost all good beer. Of course they had a couple average ones for the masses, but a great selection for the rest of us. Some Founders on tap as well as, Olde Hickory, Aviator, Catawba, etc. Great local representation. If I live around here, I would hit this place all the time. Will definitely be back when in town. Loved it.

This is a relatively new place that seems to have a wanna be biker bar feel... It all seems a little put on and chain restaurant-ish. There is a patio that is quite large, unfortunately there is no real scenery to enjoy while sitting on the patio, but it is still quite enjoyable. The beer list is packed with terrific brews. Both on tap and in bottles. The tap list could stand to be a little more extensive, but what is on it is fairly impressive. The menu is about what you would expect from a BBQ joint. The pulled pork and the brisket were quite good. Not great, but very good.

Very good place to go for a few beers, but there is definately room for improvement

I had a much better experience at this location than I had at the other location. I still vow I will not visit the downtown location.

Very new building that is kind of devoid of any real character. Open and industrial looking inside. The one saving grace was the nice music selection. I am a rock fan, and they had rock music, which added to the expereince for me. If it were bluegrass or country, I would have been annoyed.

I sat at the bar and the service was good. All of the servers seemed to be conversing with each other and eating rather than working, but I guess as long as they take care of me, I can let it slide a little bit.

Huge draft selection of about 20 drafts or so. Nice local stuff from Olde Mecklenburg and Catawba Valley Brewing with New Belgium, Founders, Fort Collins, and many others on draft. The one notable bottle selection was Founders KBS, which is hard to find. Around 80 or so bottled beers, all of high quality.

The food was quite tastey but very expensive for a BBQ joint. The sandwich was $9 and the smallest platter was $10. The BBQ was nice and smokey but a little fatty. It is nearly impossible to get out of here for less than $10 at lunch, which is a shame.

I liked this place. Good beer, good food. Bike night is Friday so I would assume this place would be rocking. I doubt I will come back due to the price jacking, but certainly worth one visit.

Right up front, I'd categorize this place as a biker bar that is family-friendly or a family restaurant that wants to be a biker bar. Regardless, everyone (families and those that biked-in) seemed to be enjoying themselves. And no wonder. The beer list is almost too big. Forget the list in the menu (on the web page) that consumes two full pages in the printed restaurant menu. While there are brewery treasures galore on that list (including at least 2 or 3 dozen gems I hadn't yet tried), the real fun at Mac's are the taps (most of which don't appear on the menu). A lot of great local and regional craft beers that, so far as I could tell, are poured into appropriate glassware and served by a knowledgeable staff--at least they knew enough to get me the right stuff to try. I sampled the Catawba Whiskey River IPA and enjoyed the Pisgah Schwarzbier and OMB Copper. All were fantastic. The food was wonderful. We had some young ones with us and they enjoyed massive portions of great food as well. I had the St. Louis ribs with (of course, what else?) the collard greens and cheese grits. My wife enjoyed the fantastic brisket with a side of onion rings and a huge salad. The only complaint. All-in-all, no complaints. Others in our party enjoyed pulled pork. Nobody got the beer can chicken, but I hear it's legendary. Bottom line: Decent prices for stellar BBQ washed down with some of the best draft beer in NC. Two thumbs up and five stars.

The new version of the Mac's on South. Much easier to get to for those of us on the South side of town. Still love the food, menu is identical. Prices have went up significantly, but same for both locations as it turns out. The draft selection here is larger and seems to be rotating more frequently. Aces and Ates and Expedition stouts were new arrivals for late fall. Bottle selection is also better, the gent who does the beer here is just a little more into it and gets some harder to find stuff. Founders Backwoods Bastard was the bottle that immediately stuck out. After talking to the guy who handles the beer, also a former Michigan State University student, he mentioned he was eyeing a barrel of Founders Canadian Breakfast, now that's a feather in the cap for any establishment. Also said they have 4 barrels of Expedition, he wanted enough to last through winter.

I think this place is on the up and up as far a beer goes and nice since there are zero beer bars in South Charlotte. At least we have several good stores.

EDIT 7/10. Draft selection has increased and gotten more interesting.

Recently visited the new Macs Steele Creek. The inside of the location was clearly designed to look just like the South Blvd. location. Its almost identical. The patio is much smaller but wraps around the building. I was there at night so I can't say for sure but it doesn't seem like it would be as much fun as each half of the patio is kind of closed off from the other. Since its not on a busy/interesting street like South Blvd. it doesn't match the vibe either. Their beer list is legit but I think South Blvd. has a better selection. Still, you will have no trouble finding a beer you like here and prices are similiar. They did manage to replicate the only thing that annoys me about the South Blvd. location by having far too few taps at this location as well. Overall, a decent place if its nearby for you but don't expect it to be the equal of the legendary original.
