Let's start with the worst part of the visit - parking. The lot was small and it took a few circles around the place to find a spot. Once inside, a boisterous atmosphere greeted us. We got one of the last available tables as the place was packed and the wait list was starting behind us. The bar area was small but was standing room only.

There are electronic beer lists on some screens along with the paper version. Plenty of local beers including some one offs were on the list. The beers the four of us enjoyed were all fresh.

Service was struggling with the crowd as it took us a good 10 minutes to get the first beers. Food came out in good time and was enjoyed by all of us. The Hangover Burger I had was really done perfectly.

Overall an enjoyable place to have some good casual food with some great beers but parking is a challenge on a busy Friday night.

Probably the best beet bar in South Jersey. Although the gap is dwindling... The burger is excellent.

I read on BeerMenus about this place and their having Dogfish World Wide Stout 2010 and I just *had* to go ther.e So I talked the wife into driving over there- it is only seven miles from our abode in South Philly after all.

After getting lost a couple of times (we ended up driving by Cooper River Park), we arrived to The Pour House and man, was it busy. We couldn't find parking at all, Friday at 6:30pm... and we did get to the joint there was a 25-minute wait for a table and a mighty-packed bar.

This being Jersey, though, the 2010 World Wide Stout I had come here for was still on tap no problem... most of the patrons were drinking colorful mixed drinks and bottled beers.

When we did get our table, the wife and I sat upstairs and had a good time. Our waitress was busy but very efficient, and I got my second pour of WWS in no time.

They must have had a Troegs tap event because there were lots of them, including Master of Pumpkins, Scratch 83 (Impending Descent), Blizzard of Hops and three years of Mad Elf.

Behold Lagunitas Double Dry Hopped, Stone RIS and Double Bastard and more... prices are not bad, 6-7 dollars...

But the food wasn't so good. The wife went for a "Second Coming" burger that supposedly won Philadelphia Magazine's number one burger spot in 2013. Yes, it was good, Tremendous flavor and juiciness. My sausage-and-mushroom flatbread pizza was incredibly sad, though... and the menu is unimaginative, particularly coming from Philadelphia (no veggie/vegan options at all)

I am rating The Pour House highly because, for South Jersey, the tap list is phenomenal and I would come back for that. Otherwise... well, you know.

I visited The Pour House on a business trip to New Jersey.

The Atmosphere is pretty cool. They have a bar area and then a pure seating area separated by a small hallway. It's bit darker like many bars (compared to true restaurants), and it has a nice vibe to it.

The Quality was great. I enjoyed both the food and the beer with zero complaints.

The Service was great as well. We had a happy, helpful waitress who provided prompt service, knew how to pour a beer properly, and also spoke well about the beers they offered.

The Selection is fantastic. They have about 15-18 beers on tap with a wide variety of styles, and they also have a very nice bottle list. I personally enjoyed a couple different Maine Beer Company offerings which, up until this past week, were not available in Chicagoland where I'm from.

The Food was fantastic as well. I had The Zipper chicken sandwich, and I also go to try a couple bites of different burgers that my co-workers tried as well all shared our dishes. The onion straws are also fantastic.

This is my last night in the Cherry Hill, NJ area, and I'm going back again tonight. I will definitely visit again in the future.

Very reasonable in terms of price. You really feel that the food is priced right and is well thought out. Food is also very good, might I add.

I feel that the beer selection is top notch. The place seems to get what people want in this area at the time. The bartenders have no problem letting you "taste" a beer as well.

Well worth the trip. It seems like PJ's got the right idea here with a place that offers great food, awesome beer, above the bar atmosphere and good live music.

I just love this place.

Atmosphere: A little funky eclectic with all of the lps and music posters on the walls. Nice bar area with about 40 seats. Bathroom is a little small. Tiny upstairs bar is always packed.

Quality: Really good small plates menu. Everything offered is high quality food that is a great value. Everything is upscale and tasty but not overly pricey. Beers sometimes are not the freshest but most of the draft offers are perfect.

Service: Getting a beer is quick and easy at the bar but is a touch slower at a table. People are nice but not the most knowledgeable about the beer selections.

Selection: Wow. They have soo many bottles to choose from. They also have about 15-20 rotating beers on draft. Plus I don't think they serve any bmc products.

Food: Food is banging. Love the pretzel bites with beer cheese and homemade potato chips with french onion dip. Also the Asian wings are really good.

Value: Excellent happy hour specials on craft beer. I love that.

Pretty cool place NJ, not too far from Cork, another beer-centric bar. There are about 15 or so rotating taps here, and well over 100 bottled brews, including many that I've never seen before. Decent menu with some really tasty stuff (my lovely wife's favorite meat-and-cheese plate!). Staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was, meh, kind of sportsbar-ish/family-oriented, but still definitely worth multiple visits merely based on the beer selection and food quality. Along with Max's Seafood Cafe, this is probably the best place for beer in the Jersey area directly surrounding Philly.

I've driven past this place many times and always wanted to stop in. After reading some reviews I took the advice of going early and stopped in for lunch.

As others have mentioned the vibe is what to be expected of chain pub/restaurant with a decent sized bar, huge dining area and lots if dark wood accents. In addition, there is an oyster bar in the middle of the room and the wall are plastered with old rock n roll memorabilia. They have an upstairs as well but I didn't venture up there. There is q massive dart board in the back corner which is visible from almost everywhere in the main dining room which is a huge plus and they shelve an empty if every bottle that they serve behind the bar.

The food was surprisingly good with above average pub grub including apps, burgers, sandwiches, snacks and other entrees. My wife and I shared pretzel bites whih came with a melted cheese dip, I had a Belgian burger which came with applewood smoked bacon, fontina cheese and Abbey mustard grain and my wife had a turkey burger which she enjoyed. I was pretty impressed with the food liking it more than what is usually offered at these places.

The service is boning to write home about. All female in tight clothes who aren't knowledgeable about beer at all. They do make sure that your glass is full and are patient as you go through the long list of available beers.

This brings me to the selection which I was very impressed with. They offered 20 beers in draft from a wide range of breweries and styles and even had some limited beers like Weyerbacher Oscar on during my visit. In addition, they had 141 bottles with a good representation of Belgian(including lambics!!!), German, Italian' local and other caft beers including Firestone Walker! Very nice and quite a surprise. Some of the rare beers are in the pricey side but not too bad.

Overall, I was very happy with this place and will definitely be back. The good food and great selection will make me a repeat customer.

They have usually about 12 beers on tap, all either Import or Microbrew. They don't have just the usual imports or micros from the area either. They keep it pretty well rotated! They also have a book of bottled beer, but not every beer is on stock. They from what I have been told usually have about 40-50 bottled beers usually. Their prices for beer are fair and have nightly beer specials as well (better prices than going into philly)! The times I have been there, there usually has been a phillies or flyers game going on, so it was very hard to get a seat and a bit loud(not a problem for someone like me, but might take away from the atmosphere for some). The bartenders are pretty knowledgeable, but don't expect much from some of the wait staff. Their food is some of the typical bar food like burgers, brat burger, sandwiches, chili and soup, but also have some intriguing finger food like mussels or tostadas. They also have a raw bar which is a nice touch! This is a good place for a nice hangout or just grabbing a snack and a beer.

Went here on one of my off the cuff Jersey runs, it's good to get out of Philly once in a while but I got lost mad nuff going here, Jersey is the worst.

Looks like a Mexican joint from the outside, I swear to god. The Pour House looks like a chain and I guess it is owned by the PJ whelihans chain of fine joints, only this place has better beer, and that's what counts. A lot of swag on the wall 95% of it is old music groups from all genres and 5% other stuff. Once inside there is a big display of oysters and it's a buck a shuck on Tuesday or Wednesday night IIRC. I guess seafood is this spots speciality. A very clean joint but the bathrooms can use some work. Good drinks ok cheese and meat board, kinda pricy, some flimsy looking waitresses, some hot ones. Good, prompt, fast service, almost two fast. Good bottle selection. Nice joint if im in a jam for a beer in the area, but im a monkey man myself.

Moving from SoCal to SJ, I was relieved to find this place just a few blocks from my house. I really appreciate this place but I don't find myself going there as often as I'd expected to.

Selection:
There are not many places in SJ with a great beer menu. The Pourhouse always has at least one thing that intrigues, several choices I know I'll like, and sometimes something totally unexpected. They always have a number of offerings on $3 or $4 special, which is a real treat. Getting Racer 5 and Stone Old Guardian at those prices made me feel at home ;) I will say that their selection is bit scatterbrained and ill-architected, however. Sure, the beers on the list are good, but sometimes you're cornered into just ONE hoppy offering or a huge number of high gravity beers. But I'll say that complaint is minor. Just check the menu on their website first.

Atmosphere:
This place is perfect for lunch or an early dinner. It gets annoyingly loud at peak hours and they turn up the music to overpower the chatter. There are enough speakers in the house to almost guarantee you'll walk out with a hoarse voice. The rock n roll memorabilia is fun to look at, and the place is clean, which is a huge plus in my book.

Food:
On Wednesdays, you really can't beat $1 oysters. Great selection, too. The Bratwurst, Belgian, and House burgers are excellent, as is the turkey burger. They are served with house made chips, but they always try to upsell you to fries. DON'T DO IT. The chips are really tasty! Much better than the fries IMO.

Service:
I've saved the worst for last, because frankly the service isn't the most important aspect of a pub IMO. However, it's worth a mention that the (all female) wait and bar staff could use some better training. The servers ALWAYS ask if you want another beer before you are finished with the one in your hand, which besides being annoying, makes it take a while after you've finished that first beer to get the chance to order another. Another issue I've had repeatedly is ordering a beer and an appetizer of oysters, expecting to order more food while eating the oysters. This has never worked. Every single time I go in there for oysters I find myself finishing a high ABV beer on essentially an empty stomach with a few empty oyster shells in front of me. It just seems out of sync. Advice: order all your food up-front or at least a substantial appetizer.

Atmosphere-
My father in-law took me here for lunch today. Amazing. It was fairly empty due to our off-peak timing, but the atmosphere was fantastic. Nice interior design; clearly beer-centric with a side-focus on food. The waitstaff were, well, attractive... and it was a place conducive to good conversation about beer. Maybe it's different at night, but this was the perfect cozy bar/restaurant to kick-back a few with the father in-law.

Quality-
Clean draft lines, clean and appropriate glassware... clearly tons of thought put into their beer and food selections. Everything about this place just screamed quality.

Service-
I've seen a couple negative comments on BA about poor service here, and unknowledgeable staff. I definitely didn't have this experience. Our barmaid was highly educated on beer. Our service was prompt and friendly. Granted this experience could be different if the bar were packed... but my first and only experience entailed great service all-around.

Selection- An incredible draft and bottle selection. While I have been to other bars with more drafts and bottles, The Pour House makes-up for quantity with outstanding quality. They cover a variety of styles and bring in some of the best examples of those styles from around the world.

Food-
The food was just exceptional. I had the tuna burger: sushi-grade tuna in what looked like a 1/4 pound patty, sliced mozzarella, fresh basil and sliced tomato on a bun... absolutely exquisite (and only $9)!!

I have been thrilled with my experience here and would DEFINITELY go back!

I've been holding out on reviewing this place. Been there maybe a dozen or more times now. Hoping to have at least one really stellar experience here, but I can't stand it any longer....

The Pour House, for those of you who don't know, is owned by PJ Whelihan's (a local chain of pub/restaurants sporting a faux Irish/UK pub atmosphere). Big, wide open rooms. Lots of stained wood paneling and flooring. Umpteen TVs. Bad tans and polo shirts. And so on.

One of the more frustrating elements of this place is the staff. And this, I'm sure, has much to do with the image and consistency the ownership wants to maintain throughout all their locations. By "image", I mean mammary glands.

When you have one bartender say "Doghead Fish" and another tell another one that Golden Monkey is supposed to go in a chalice instead of a pint glass "because it's expensive", your head will turn and your eyes will roll. This was well over a year ago when these special moments occurred and, to the best of my observation, many of those friendly young blondes still work there. The girls aren't there to share their beer smarts and food pairing tips. Fair enough.

I am repeatedly amazed at the quality and the variation of the tap offerings. How and why they organize and present these offerings the way they do is a mystery. I'm going to attempt to solve it by suggesting that they're morons (or, at best, they want people to get bombed, surprise surprise). Pre-fixe flights that include a kolsch and a RIS? 14 out 20 taps in the middle of July featuring beers in the 7-16% range. There's no rhyme or reason to what they do.

The eats are largely hit or miss. The Thai-style calamari is really well done. The Turkey Dagwood is a joke - crummy supermarket roll and bland. One of the best turkey burgers I've ever had. The pierogies and grilled shrimp tostados are okay but leave a little to be desired. I've heard from several folks that the burgers are decent (I don't eat red meat).

Obviously they're trying to cash in on the craft beer phenomenon. If you're into your beer, and I know you are, visit this place during the day/early afternoon. If you'd like to avoid townies and testosterone, don't go at night.

So far, I find this is the only place bar worth going to for beer in South Jersey. They have a large selection of beer both on tap and bottled. If you go, you must go between Wednesday and Saturday and request Jordan as your server. She is known, by the regulars, as the "Beer Lady" and rightfully so. She loves beer. She knows beer. And, most importantly, she knows what beer you'll like (based on your taste preference). I went on a Friday night and the place was very loud; even so, I still enjoyed talking to her about beer. She exemplifies the ideal server for a beer advocate.

Many moons ago this was the Westmont Inn. Look up "dive" in a dictionary and it would have been the poster child. It was vile, filthy, and subterranean in its personality. I can say happily that The Pour House is the Inn's diametric opposite.

Like most PJ's, it has a dark-wood and paraphernalia collegial feel, but in a much more intimate fashion. They maximize the floor space with plenty of tables, and TV's abound, all tuned, surprise, to sports. The bar itself is a bit small for the overall footprint, but sitting at a table is no real concession. And the oyster bar, one of two few in the region, is an inspired inclusion. All ages are welcome, and its abundantly kid-friendly at reasonable hours.

Quality is across the board quite good. Beer tastes clean, bottles appear well cared for, food is tasty, and there's no hygienic issues, a fact all too often not in evidence even at some of the better beer destinations.

Service was a true strength. On one occasion the waitress could not do enough to accommodate our rambunctious 4 YO daughter, and it worked wonderfully. Menu knowledge is solid. Beer knowledge, not surprisingly, is skin-deep, but they are aware of what's on tap, in bottles, and can answer cursory questions.

Selection is very good, on tap and in bottles. Locals abound, with Flying Fish, Victory, Weyerbacher, Yards, etc. Pleasant draft presences included New Holland, Haand, Hitachino, and Ommegang. The bottle list is likely the best in the tri-county region, with those expected in place and those not surprisingly there in many cases. I won't ramble on about the lists...simply, check the website when you have some time, because there truly is something for everyone.

The food makes it to the bar the beer selection sets. Burgers arrive cooked as ordered, accouterments are nice additions, and selection is solid, even if meat is often at the fore. The Turkey Dagwood, gets special mention on a warm spring day as crisp, flavorful, and even fun. And if you have a hankering for oysters, this is a fine stop. They have 8-12 varieties, all fresh, or so I'm told by patrons. The only admittedly small note I want to make is it would be a good idea to include some of the larger specimens on the menu as soon as season permits.

You won't break the bank dining here, or drinking here, but I was slightly taken aback by the $6.00 price for 8 oz. of Ommegang 3 Philosophers. To be fair, though, that was the sole budgetary misstep as far as I could see.

Bring yourself, bring family, bring friends...all are welcome, all will enjoy (or so I'd think!), and considering the gradually growing SJ beer scene, all will be nicely impressed. PJ's nailed it here. I might never go back to one of their eponymous flagships again.

Been to the Pour House in Westmont (Note that some google maps searches indicate that it's actually Haddon Township) a few times over the past 3 months--enough to finally write a review.

A huge upgrade from PJ's Dockhoppers, The Pour House likes to use the phrase "Powered by PJ's" on their menu--which actually sets the bar lower than what they deliver. The burgers are supreme. I highly recommend the Belgian Burger, which has smoked bacon, fontina cheese and a delicious abby ale mustard. I like to have them give me extra mustard on the side for french fry dipping. Beyond the burgers, everything else is decent enough.

The atmosphere is about the same as PJ's, though perhaps a bit more sophisticated. The place gets loud on weekend nights, when the combination of the small space mixes with the relatively small bar area and usually some live music. I don't have one of those decibel thingys, but I'm sure a busy Saturday would cause the thing to redline.

The reason to go is the beers. With up to 18 rotating taps, there's always a seasonal on tap that I'd like to try. The staff--even on a busy Friday night--is always more than willing to bring me 2 or 3 tasting portions of the new stuff.

The beer menu claims 100 bottles, which sounds impressive. But a closer inspection shows that probably a good 25-35% of them are simply mass produced beers and imports. But taking into account that I guess they have to have the staples, I've constantly found delicious beers at decent prices.

Last night I had a Saison Rue 750m bottle from The Bruery. Just delicious. At 18 bucks, it was about what I expected to pay.

Overall, The Pour House has not disappointed.
