Pours a cloudy bright yellow with white head. Bananas, cloves, and wheat on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with more bananas and cloves. Nice.

My 2nd at Kenosha 5k Border War Beer Fest. Needed food, but instead got a good liquid banana. Refreshing. Yeast sets this apart from the pack of Wisconsin brewers who got the heritage, but not the climate, to mimic the Munich masters.
Lust does not start well in the Looks department, but does offer alluring Smells (mostly banana.) Tastes are common, not sure why the aromatic yeast then falls. Refreshing, but not enough for a repeat.
A restaurant in the brewing business and, it seems, they do a pretty good job of both; having been at it for 10 years.

Had it on tap at a beer garden in a liter stein. Surprisingly clear beer with a white head that didn't last long. Outstanding smell, like the best Bavarian examples it smells like banana and cloves with the bubblegum hints I love. The taste was decent, but maybe too sweet/cloying. Yeast flavors were spot on. The carbonation was high, which kept it light, but by the end of the liter it was dying off, the mouthfeel started to feel heavier. Good beer, drinkable in the summer and on tap at my local beer garden.

This wasn't nearly as good as their Pale Ale. Aroma was the best part with a traditional Bavarian Weissbier nose. Appearance was a fizzy, short lived, off-white head, no lace, and a clear pale amber color. Flavor was going in the right direction but then got way too sweet. Body was fizzy sharp. I'll chug it down and that's it. Probably good for cooking.

12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.
A - Poured with the sediment swirled in, Lust is a cloudy deep golden beer with well-formed head that's just a smidgen short for the style and doesn't leave any lacing on the glass.
S - Authentic yeast gives Lust a, well, lust-worthy aroma ripe with bananas and clove as well as earthy clay undertones and a snap of bubblegum. Plenty of malted barley and wheat give the background a soft, bready presence.
T - Heavy on the yeast, Saint Francis' Lust keeps the freight train of banana and clove rolling across the tongue pulling a load of barley and wheat behind. The difference between the flavor and aroma however, is the lack of vibrancy and authenticity - it clearly tastes American-made and slightly grainy.
M - Medium-full bodied, this hefe is a bit on the heavier side though still rather smooth, almost from a lack of carbonation but, its flavor lingers nicely.
O - One of the better Saint Francis beers, Lust, their hefeweizen, opens up with an inviting yeasty aroma reminiscent of the Bavarian classics but, turns to the average American attempt upon the first gulp. While the beer isn't at all bad, it's a bit of a let down from the big aromatic display.
