This is not something I would normally consider an IPA. . . The citrus notes do set it apart in its own way, but I expect more of that delicious bitter content that is not overridden by the fruit flavor. My cohort who is tasting this with me says he appreciates the slight sediment you get in the slightly murky orange color. I however am not a big fan of sediment, and while this is slightly off-putting, it is not what I consider a total deal breaker. The sediment plus the overly citrus punch for an IPA leads to the lower grades for Taste+Appearance. . . It is not a bad IPA, but not something I would seek out again. . .

Served from a 22oz bottle

Has a nice golden almost light copper color, with a thick head.

Very subtle nose. Slight grassy and citrus smell. Not overwhelming

Has a very citrusy, weedy taste. None of which are very overpowering. Nice subtle flavors that emerge throughout the beer. Easy everyday drinker.

Overall this is a solid IPA, would like to try other types from Schooner, but for a first sample, I expect good things from the rest of the line

Appearance is a mid amber color supporting a fair head leaving nill lace. Smell has a nice sweet malt backbone with citric/piney floral hops. Taste mirrors the aroma having a good balance of the malt and hop leaving a mild bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Not one of the better ones, but still a good one to try.

Handsome medium amber color with a decent foam in the Ommegang chalice. Plenty of carbonation and a nice sudsy mouthfeel.

A sweetness on the lips to start with some caramel taste. Some dark biscuity flavors emerge. Hops have a mineral taste and a subdued character. Overall, a warm and malty brew, but light bodied and quaffable. A salty tang with some leafy hops. Bitterness in the aftertaste but not strong.

This seems like the classic Northwest IPA with a more rounded flavor and less intensity on the bitterness. Actually a highly drinkable hoppy brew that pleases me more than the harsher IPAs. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Bottleworks in Seattle.

This is an ok beer, to off-balanced to be a Good IPA. If you are a fast drinker you might like this one but pause between taste and you will see the bitter stands alone on the finish and that is the balance off kilter! This would be a good beer to mix on a tasting of a cross section of PNW IPA's to make the difference stand out.

The 3 grid from Schooner poured a light orange almost straw color with a good finger foam head out of the 22oz bottle secured through whole paycheck. It had semi sticky lacing that kept to the sides of the pilnser glass I used to get full aroma.

The smell was good but a seemed a little too dominated by the caramel aroma which jumped out right away. You could get some citrus defined by a lemony smell. The taste followed with the caramel flavor. The mouthfeel was nice to me as it was not a sandpaper feel as some IPAs give you. Overall it was a really good IPA which I will buy again and plan on visiting the brewery when I am in Seattle next time.
