Had at the Schooner Pub and Galley. Clear amber in color with bubbly white head. Very aromatic. Citrus hops and spices too. Tastes much like the nose. Busy flavor. Lots of hops and various spice notes. Body is above average. Too me this is like a winter IPA. Would drink again but may be a tad heavy on the spices.

Notes: Overall: This is a pretty good winter-warmer...Although not as good as the other styles from this categorie...say like Sierra Nevada, The beer from Bend, or what about Jolly Roger from Ballard (Seattle) 'for cryin' out loud!!!!'...Good beer although would be hesitant to try again (due to the competition these days!!)...Oh I guess price 'does' matter to some folks...so, this was a pretty good 'deal' at $5.00 for a bomber...Bottom line, 'good' not 'great' and definitely NOT horrible...CHEERS :~)

Review from 11/2010 notes. Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a semi-opaque dark orange amber. Nice light tan head and lacing. Nice aroma of caramel, malt and light hops. Malty start with dark fruits and hops in the middle and end. Finishes hoppy and spicy. The finish is somewhat unrefined and bit bitter, but the overall taste is moderately reserved with excellent complex malts, hops and dark fruit. I like this. It is in the top rank of winter warmers for me.

For a beer called Hoppy Holidays, it is lacking in hops. However, it is just as the description tells: chocolate and dark fruits. poured into a Rouge hoppy Holidays glass, it pours a solid light black with a thick white head that stays. It smells of one sided darkness. Flavor mostly of old figs and chocolate and some burnt coffee; there is not much hops as far as aroma or hoppy flavor go. But, if a burt winter warmer is what your locking for, this beer is for you. Goes great with dark chocolate and dark chocolate cake! Would recommend splitting a bomber for a night cap, but as far as drinkability go beyond that, I couldn't do more than two without unpleasantries. The toasted malt/coffee/chocolate lingers too long on the tongue relative to other flavors.

Dark chestnut brown in the tall Timmermans goblet, with a thin but persistent cap of foam. Plenty of spritz on the tongue. Expansive warm and rich malty flavor. Lots of roasted grainy flavor with an appealing touch of sweetness.

Some dark chocolate flavors and something like a touch of mince meat pie spices with that raisiny tang. The hops are distinct but play discretely in the background. There is just a modest lingering bitterness in the aftertaste along with some honey.

One of the better winter brews and a new one to me. Beautiful label, too. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Wine World and Spirits in north Seattle.

2012 offering; poured from a 22oz bottle into a snifter. Pours with a fair amount of head, that dissipates quickly leaving lace on the side. Root beer color; fair clear. Lots of roasted malt and barley on the nose, with caramel and dark chocolate, some grass and earth in there too. Taste is the crust on a creme brulee, with some salt and chocolate. Finish is bitterness from the hops, but does not linger that long. Medium carbonation, less so than some other holiday offerings. Overall, an enjoyable holiday beer!

Bomber into a FW tulip. Vintage 2013 so its extremely fresh, obviously.

Pours a dark red, almost brown with a big inch and a half head. The smell is a bit mild with caramel and a faint amount of hops, but nothing real remarkable there. The taste though is extremely different and is amazing. Caramel is there but also a ton of dark fruit and chocolate. An amazing plethora of flavors that blend superbly well together. Almost full bodied too, which was another nice surprise! Super easy to drink and ABV undetectable.

Overall loved this beer and glad i have another bomber!

As the name might suggest, this ale has a formative hop profile. It is glowing auburn with jubilant lace and a gentle smell of spiced caramel. Its flavor touches upon modest herb spice with an exotic chocolate malt woodenness comparable to a brown ale. Not an over-the-top beer, but engaging, repeatable, and ideal for the season.
