This is what so many other lighter IPA's try to achieve but either miss it up front or somewhere else along the way. Very balanced and smooth. Fit for any occasion, I will enjoy more of this Seattle Special. This beer is really excellent in the middle...just before you swallow.

22oz : SN IPA Glass
Clear, brassy orange with a thick, foamy white head.
Big juicy, resinous hop notes. Light citrus notes, some pale, malt backing.
Medium+ body, mild foamy carbonation.
A decent IPA. Enjoyable at the time, but nothing particularly memorable in the big picture.

Pours a light and slightly hazy gold color with a nice bright white head.
Aromas are very pleasant. Notes of pine needles, some really bright citrus, and prominent notes of mostly oranges and peaches.
Taste is similar to the nose, but it doesn't translate quite as well as I hoped. Crisp and dry up front, light cracker and creamy sweetness. Finish is bitter, with pine, orange zest, and some general citrus notes.
Mouthfeel is full, good body, and nice snappy carbonation.
Overall, a solid IPA. Very drinkable and enjoyable. But like I said, I wish the taste was up to par with the excellent aromas.

A - Pours a slightly hazy light orange with a one inch off-white head with good retention.
S - Fruity, citrus, tropical, with lots of citra, very nice.
T - Light pine, citrus, and tropical fruits.
D - Good carbonation with a light body.
O - Good nose and flavors, but very light and subtle. Sessionable Citra?

22oz into a tulip. Pours a nice warm coppery color w/ a big frothy white head, nice patchy lace.
Aroma is a big juicy burst of grapefruit. One of the best smelling IPAs I've had in a while. Smells fresh, sweet and mouthwatering but doesn't go into the dank, oily territory that I'm finding I enjoy less and less. Citra hops plainly evident in the aroma.
Taste is a blend of pale dry biscuity malt and juicy, resinous NW hops. Lots of grapefruit rind, plenty of bitterness. The neutral malt backbone really showcases the hops here. Reminds me a little bit of Icicle Bootjack, and that is a good thing.
Mouthfeel is balanced and medium bodied. Nice crisp finish.
Overall a nice, dry West Coast style IPA. It doesn't taste quite as good as it smells, but it's still very clean and refreshing.

Massive foam in the economy-size Duvel tulip, but not a spew. Piles of mashed potato head. Alarmingly prickly and over-carbonated on the tongue. Pretty, though. Color is hazed golden amber. Smells like juniper twigs and leaf mold.
They seem to be trying for that fresh hop flavor, which here is pretty murky. Hops listed are Chinook, Columbus, and "late additions of Citra." Slight malty sweetness. Bitter quinine soda without the sugar. Resiny and astringent.Twigs and mineral finish. Flat flavors and seems to lack the kind of aromatics you'd hope for in a hoppy brew.
Quite dry and bitter, overall. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Bottleworks in Seattle.
