We brewed this beer inspired only by the challenge to do something we have never done. Brew a triple IPA? What the hell is a triple IPA anyway? Is it a young barley wine or a super imperial IPA? Well whatever it is, here you go! Enjoy with caution and make sure you are sitting down.

Pours a pretty darn clear amber-gold with a finger of bone coloured, thick and sticky looking head.

Toasted sweet pale malts, tropical fruits and fresh cedar, some citrus, and very slight green onion on the nose.

Resinous hops, sweet pale malts but fairly clean, not very cloying. There's some citrus with a slight tang and the bitter oily rinds. No shortage of hops.

Pretty full body, medium-low carbonation.

Great stuff. I can't help but think Lagunitas sucks here, but a side by side might find that comparison way off ...it has been a little while, just popped into my head while drinking.

This is a nearly flawless beer in my opinion.

Sweet maltiness without the nasty syrupy feel. Hopped to hell without the same ol same ol. Perfect balance. A little boozy which you would expect from something called triple IPA. Really, considering that it is 10.4 percent, the booze taste is hidden extraordinarily. These guys deserve their reputation.

I am writing this review to point out one thing.

I don't agree with some of the reviews below that this beer has good amount of "malt". This is one of the hoppiest beers I have ever tasted without much malt backbone at all. It's almost to the point it's way too hoppy (and trust me I have had my share of top hoppy IPAs). I actually wish it had more maltiness to round out the beer.

Maybe this batch is different than previous ones.

It was just alright for me.

Thanks to Paul or getting me this.
Began as a good but not extraordinary pour. Color didn't strike me as a DIPA or TIPA. Had a good clear but soft yellow appearance with a very nice head that dissipated as expected for a high octane beer.
Let's start with this. I chilled beer to @ 50 degrees since I didn't want a cold beer to start.
As chilled the beer was a bit quiet. No exceptional scent or taste.
What I thought was that I had a very well balanced and subtlety complex beer. There wasn't the big push. It was clear that this beer was either a bit soft or full of flavor but under the radar.
Overall, was a nice drinkable beer that didn't really catch your attention.

Then it sat a bit in the glass and moved to room temperature,

Wow! The flavors just leapt out of the glass. More like an English Barleywine than an IPA...the flavors just grew and exploded with a bit of warming. It didn't stale...it rounded and matured.
There was a caramelized aftertaste and an outstanding creamy mouth feel.

Not unlike the brewer's notes on the label...clearly this was a big beer...but TIPA, Barleywine , etc...unsure.

For me...Here to say...not sure...don't care. I do know that I would buy again, drink again, and definitely (but completely unexpectedly) put a few bottles down for awhile...

These guys know how to brew beer, and put me in line for a sixtel if it comes around again.

Very well done!
