In mythology, the raven can play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules, hence the name Trickster. This well-balanced IPA has a light fruit, citrus and piney hop aroma with a full hop flavor. With delicately balanced malt and hops and a 6.9% ABV, this beer has truly earned its name. Available year-round.

Bottle from Safeway. Pours out a bright orange, golden, lasting foamy head. Aroma is citrus, malts, some light bitterness. Taste continues with minor sweet malts, oranges, mild hoppiness. Incredibly smooth. Tasty too.

Bought a single can at Denver bottle shop. Canned on 10/09/19.
Pours clear, dark gold with lovely thick creamy head.

Taste is malty, not hoppy. In fact, it isn't hoppy at all, despite the claim on the can. Aftertaste is syrupy sweet.
If this was categorized as a brown ale, or an amber, or a winter warmer, or even a bock, all good. But this is not a WC IPA.

Nope.

after a lot of hype around their launch of the idaho market, i had a little higher hops for this, what appears to be their flagship ipa. its fresh enough, canned only about a month ago, but somehow seems tired to me, although i do love the aesthetic on the can, very sort of halloween looking, nice for the fall anyway. the beer has a maltier almost orange copper shade to it, clearish, and with a high rising but short lived white head on it. smells like sweet crystal malt and fairly generic northwestern hops, nothing unique at all, and less of the dry hop character than i expected, more of a longer boiled bitterness and late kettle addition vibe to me, not as bright as i think i wanted the hops to be, which is true in the flavor too. there is nice balance with the sturdy malt base, but this really isnt enough to make the beer very appealing to me, the hops kind of seem faded, and while i get some pine sap and some bitter orange out of it, its a flavor combination i have tasted a million times, and frankly tastes like a number of beers we already have here in the market, not sure why anyone felt it would be necessary to add this one to the mix, its fine beer, but its just another one. i liked their updraft pale quite a bit better than this one, and will have to try this on tap when i see it, it just didnt do much for me out of the can last night.

bottle (into glass)
Clear deep golden tinged orange appearance. A malty mandarin orange peel with a touch of pine on the nose. Quite a dose of hop bitterness up front with some citrus peel and well steeped Darjeeling tea in the taste.

Last beer of the Northwest vacation at the Dungeness Bay HMS at SeaTac on 5-26-19.

Beer was served golden with a nice white head that left lacing on my glass, which was shocking for an airport!

Nose was some light grapefruit, not bad.

Taste was a nice combination of grapefruit and pine, nice classic WCIPA take. Bitterness was 5/10.

Mouthfeel was light to medium bodied and fairly refreshing.

Overall a solid WCIPA!

12 ounce can dated 1/17/19. Poured into tulip glass.
Pours a deep auburn, reddish, with an orange tinted head. Good head retention, great sticky lacing.
Citrus, honey malt, rye, notes of tropical fruit aromas.
Not my ideal tasting styles. Grainy, coarse, citrus and woody pine. Black Pepper notes, caraway seed and rye bread. Is this beer made with rye? I honestly don’t know.
Lighter feel, medium carbonated. Astringent feel.
Is this just an old school NW IPA or an old can? I’m leaning to the former. Nothing terrible about it just a few years too late for me.
