The first beer to come from this new brewery in Redmond. It's an interesting mix of a brown and a porter. Surprisingly complex upon initial taste, it's a great beer.

I know - how very NOT helpful. I'll try to edit this review when I have more time.

It's my favorite beer at Black Raven hands down.

Filled a growler and poured into pint glass. Decent head, light tan in color. A very dark brown in color. Not much going on in terms of aroma. Mild sweetness and a bit nutty. Very good lace trails the sips. Well balanced porter, lower body. Mouthfeel was average with a lingering bitterness. I don't think this will be a go-to beer for me but it will work for most beer geeks but probably not for the true porter connoisseur.

On draught at the Collins Pub, Tamerlane Brown Porter is dark mahogany brown with an off-white head that leaves scattered lace.

Smells like brown sugar, light herbal hops.

Taste is very nice, an interesting porter for sure, basically a brown ale with some roasted malt. Really nice cocoa notes, very light leafy hops. Really opens up as it warms.

Mouthfeel is semi-dry, some creaminess, medium light bodied.

Drinkability is good, a really tasty porter, unique and well made.

On tap at J Micheal's Pub in Redmond. Served in a pint glass.

Appearance is a dark mahogany brown color and clear. Frothy off-white nearly beige head, leaves nice white rings on the glass.

Smell is faint. A little roasted grain and coffee aroma

Taste is good. Not full-flavored but a soft blend of caramel biscuit and coffee flavors.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and clean.

Very drinkable. Kind of a combination between a porter and a brown ale.

Poured a murky nut-brown with a finger of light khaki head. Sweet nutty aroma with toffee and brown sugar.

Moderate carbonation and a creamy but slightly thin mouthfeel. Nice flavors of nutty caramel, brown sugar, and a little bit of cocoa and coffee to balance.

A really easy-drinking porter that's definitely on the sweeter side.

A: Poured a dark brown color, bubbly and good carbonation with a nice dirty white head.

N: Roasted grain, spice, coffee, toffee and chocolate

T: Very good. Some light coffee, toffee, caramel, cocoa

M: Not as creamy as a traditional porter but crisper and easier to drink. Some roastiness, toffee and light chocolate on end

D: MUST TRY!

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a VERY clear and clean reddish brown with about 3/4 of an inch of light tan head that dissipated quickly and left medium lacing. Seriously, I have never seen a Porter this clear, it's not translucent, you can see clearly through it.

The aromas were the typical sweet and roast of a Porter, just very subdued. This beer really comes alive across the tongue however. A pleasant, but not overly powerful, roast flavor is the primary feature, with a tickle of spicy hop on the finish.

I found the body to be thinner than I would have liked. Drinkabilty was very, very good. Perhaps a bit too strong to be a true session beer, you could none the less do worse than to have several of these down at your local.

Overall, a very good and enjoyable beer. This beer is, in my opinion, much closer to a brown ale than a porter. The numerical scores would show this if I were to rate this beer as such. Worth some effort to obtain, you'll like this beer if try it, no matter what it's called.
