Served On-Tap in a Wilibecher Pint

A — Pours an extremely clear and transparent pale pale yellow color into the glass. Some quickly rising bubbles help to form a stark white head, some lacing left behind is quite consistent.

S — Slightly sweet and crisp, this mostly smells of fresh grains and a little wheat, really just light and easy.

T — Super fresh, light, smooth, and crisp, really not a whole lot of depth of flavor, but still a good easy drinker.

M — Light in body, fair amount of carbonation, very nice overall.

O — Great overall, haven't had many in this style, but this is executed very well.

I had this on-tap in a pint glass at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.

Appearance: medium yellow hue with a very light haze and a somewhat lazy effervescence. Head is a thin layer of white foam. Not too bad!

Smell: lightly wheaty with just a hint of something piquant -- sour maybe. Not particularly strong in any case, though.

Taste: rather grainy right up front with a little bit of a sharpness around the edges; a refreshing wheaty character runs all the way through. Reminds me a lot more of an American-style pale wheat ale than a German weizen. Not bad, but not particularly exciting.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess for the style. Nothing to complain about here.

Overall: quite refreshing indeed. While the graininess is just a tad harsh up front, the wheaty character really smooths out the finish. Quite drinkable, but otherwise unremarkable.
