The brewery calls this a "Northwest Wit", whatever that's supposed to mean. Served in straight pint glass. Poured a cloudy pale yellow, almost White, which a lot of Wits never approach, and had just a thin cap of white head that had almost no retention and very light lacing.
The aroma was way more subdued than I prefer in the style, but most of the notes were there. Soft grains, gentle spicing, light yeast. I didn't pick up any of the expected orange peel or coriander. The taste was also grain forward, with the yeast supplying most of the back-up. There was a very light tickle of spice at the back of the tongue.
While Wits are a pretty light style to begin with, the body was even thinner than expected for the style. Drinkability was good, the beer goes down easily, and having a couple during our recent warm spring would be easy. Overall, a nice little take on the style. I was sort of expecting more from BR, arguably Washington's best brewery, as their brews usually have big, bold flavors. Still, this is certainly worth a shot if you see it.
