Though Black Raven falls into the "brewery with a tasting room" category (it's not a genuine brewpub), it's more comfortable than many similarly organized breweries in our region. They do have a few tables amid oak barrels near the brewery garage bay in the rear. And in summer there are outdoor tables behind the brewery in the parking lot. But most of the place has the outward appearance of a small pub or restaurant with lit candles on the tables and refined decor. They just don't have a kitchen and offer no more than snacks to eat. The popular option is to call for pizzeria delivery.

The bar offers six regular taps and a seasonal, plus three guests and some wine. They serve imperial pints, perform glass rinses (a sophisticated gesture though I'm not sold on the idea), and tap a firkin on Weds. nights. They brew the more popular styles with the occasional Belgian or barrel aged ale and a filtered version of their hefeweizen brewed to the kristallweizen style. Quality varies but is generally of merit, especially the IPA. Overall, a friendly spot for a pint or growler and very popular with the locals. Worth a visit if you're on the east side.

Some of the best beer you'll ever try but the wait and service is their weakest part! I don't care for the wait staff but the beer makes it worth it. Beaux Bowman is a genius brewer who found the right occupation, I hope he can get his staff on the same level as his product.

One of the very best places to have a beer on the Seattle East Side. Great service, awesome beer, great atmosphere. Only their beer is served, plus one guest tap some times, but it's very good and at least 6-7 different ones at once. Many rotating taps too.
