I made my first visit to B.R. World Headquarters for their 1st Anniversary party recently. So, while this isn't a typical visit, I did get a feel for the place.
The atmosphere was very nice for a spot in an industrial complex. A comfortable room, with nice tables and chairs, is what you get when you walk in the front door. There is a bar with 6-8 seats and 10-12 taps in the front most spot. Going through a doorway leads to some more tables and, eventually, the brewery.
The entire staff was nice and friendly, despite how busy they were that day. The beers were, as usual for BR, top notch. They had the regular lineup available for pints and growler fills, and special things just for for the party by the glass.
If you're in the area, stop in. If you're visiting the PNW on a vacation or business trip, make a point of getting there, you will not be disappointed.

One of the very best places to have a beer on the Seattle East Side. Great service, awesome beer, great atmosphere. Only their beer is served, plus one guest tap some times, but it's very good and at least 6-7 different ones at once. Many rotating taps too.

It’d been a while since I found myself in the Pacific Northwest, and I was delighted to find that the more things change, the more they stay the same. That is to say, there are a ton more breweries around than the last time I was in Seattle, but they’ve all maintained that quality I’ve come to associate with the Emerald City.
My first stop on my return visit was a place that had just unfolded its wings when I left for Michigan, a place called Black Raven Brewing Company. Technically it’s not in Seattle; it’s across Lake Washington in Redmond. And it doesn’t serve food, which is part of the reason I never made it out when it was first starting off.
That was a mistake.
The beers here are quite impressive. The constant lineup is solid, with the best offerings coming in the form of IPA, Stout and a Strong Scotch Ale. The one disappointment was a brown ale that I found thin and slightly metallic in the finish. Outside of these regulars comes a fantastic barrel aging program that had produced three outstanding beers when I visited. The first was a bourbon stout that was lighter on the bourbon than most others I’ve had. The second was a dry blonde ale that tasted almost like champagne, with a rich depth of flavors that lingered on the tongue. The last was a version of their Scotch ale that had been aged in wine barrels. It created quite a unique combination of flavors, which I found both extremely interesting and extremely delicious.
The drawbacks of the establishment are its size and the fact that it doesn’t serve food. It’s rather small, and finding a seat or table or anything to set your glass down on can be challenging. But given that issue, it’s a pretty clean and warm environment, though nothing special. As for the food issue, they do have pizza menus for a nearby company that will deliver straight to your table. And it’s fantastic. So I guess the food really isn’t an issue.
As for the service, it also is pretty stellar. Though you have to go to the counter to order, rather than make you wait if there’s a backup in pouring, they’ll deliver to your table and give you a detailed overview of each style. When it calms down a bit, someone will check in on you now and then and offer more libations.
Overall, I rather liked the place and would be back many times if I lived in the area.

The parking is always fun to find (sometimes I just visit Hi Fi Brewery a 100yrds away and walk) but usually not a big hassel. Really enjoy the seating areas and actual bar. Good place to meet up with friends or a whole group. They have a pretty good food truck that comes on most weekends. As others have said there is a varied selection of styles and tastes with two bars to get a pint at which is pretty helpful. Overall an energetic and lively place to sit and enjoy a full glass or the full flight with knowledgable people with a smile and enthusiasm for the company and Washington beer.

Arrived to find a full parking lot. After finally finding a parking spot, I weaved through the masses of people to the bar to get a flight. I was very impressed... every style was spot on, the mouthfeel was great, and the nose pleasant. Place was in an industrial type area which I guess is standard for many brewpubs. Still it loses points there because it doesn't have that atmospheric charm... maybe if they create an historic feeling taphouse I'll then give them a perfect score. Until then they'll have to settle with me saying they make the best beer in Seattle that I've tried.
