Visited a friend so got a chance to try this place out... I liked it a lot. Pretty big sized place, I guess it's part of a chain cause they have a weekly circular and such, nice bottle redemption center too. Lots of good deals here... there's a 6 pack of the month (or maybe week) which is marked down a few bucks, they have mix a six with 10% off, and it doubles to 20% off on Fridays... great deal. Pretty decent selection.. a lot of new stuff to me as I'm from CT (Stone, Troegs, Mad River, Wachusett) but it seems like a lot of the regular stuff they don't have as many styles as other beer stores i.e. for Sierra Nevada just the Pale Ale and Summerfest only. Cashier was telling me about all the free tastings/brewmasters they were going to have coming up (too bad I live 150 miles away)... nice place though, if I lived in the New Bedford/Dartmouth area this would be my weekly stop for sure.

I can't help but get a bit of nostalgia walking in here. I grew up in the area and for my entire childhood, this Douglas Wine and Spirits used to be a toy store. It was Toy Works turned KB Toy Works where I bought various video games and action figures during my childhood. Kind of funny to think about, but for that reason, this place gets a 5 on the atmosphere because I can't help but smile when I walk in.
I guess there's no problem with the quality. I've gotten a few things from time to time, but everything seems to be of quality. If there's something that seems to be running towards the end of their peak then it's placed in some type of "seasonal" end cap and it seems to be discounted. The isles are orderly and everything is neatly stocked.
Service is pretty good. Whenever I've gone I haven't spoken to a distinguished beer manager, but nobody seems to be wandering around roaming the isle, you need seem to need to seek out help on your own.
The most recent visit I had I saw Firestone Walker 15 for $18. I thought "wow, good deal" so I grabbed 2 bottles, one for me and one for a friend, there were 6-7 or so bottles so I thought it was fair to take 2. When I brought it to the register the woman had to look up the price and it eventually scanned in at $23.99. When I informed her that it was what it was labeled on the shelf she got defensive and just asked for the manager. The manager saw the beer and asked me to show him where I saw it because according to him, it wasn't even supposed to be on the shelves yet. I walked him over to the shelf and there it was and it even said under the price "Firestone Walker." He did the right thing and honored the price listed, but seemed a little frustrated with it. I could have been labeled for a different Firestone Walker beer, but that's not any customers fault. Regardless they did make up for their mistake.
The selection is pretty good. They have a decent selection of beers from the New England area (Sam adams, harpoon, Smuttynose, Otter Creek/Long Trail, Magic Hat, Clown Shoes, Pretty Things, ect) as well as all the classic heavy hitters (Dogfish, Stone, Rogue, Sierra Nevada. Others that aren't as expected, but findable like Firestone, Lagunitas, and Clipper city. All you would need for BMC products are there as well as a respectable imports from the UK area, everything you'd expect from a decent store (Hobgoblim, some Rocheforts, St Bernardius, Fullers, stuff like that. So overall it's a good selection.
I find the prices slightly steep there. They have a "Mix any six" deal where you buy any six bottles and you save 10% on your purchase. I guess that's not a horrible deal, but it seems that individual bottles are a little more expensive. So I don't think it really evens out all that much, maybe slightly in your favor. The store is worth checking out, one of the better places to get craft beer in the area so worth heading in. Seem to have a decent liquor and wine selection too if that's your thing.

I have been here a few times and always find it huge and impressive. Large selection of wine and liquor. Beers are on the left side as you walk in. All of the macros are on the back wall, while the extensive craft brew section is on the left wall, with a long section of crafts in the cooler. There are two long aisles of crafts on the nearby shelves. Lots and lots to choose from. Many locals, regionals and imports. Mix-a-six discounts as well as frequent-buyer cards.
9/10 Update: I love this place! - most of all the mix-a-six selection and discount cards. Good place to pick up stuff for trades too. [much better than the Fall River location]

Stopped in here on my way to the cape. fairly large store. decent selection but was expecting alot more from the other reviews already listed. i'd recomend it as a local favorite but wouldn't go outta my way to stop here again. Prices were also relatively good and the staff was very friendly. they had a nice selection of beers that i cant find in CT but was a little dissapointed they did not have any founders... oh well. was able to get a few beers that i've been looking to try. for the size of the store they could deffinitly afford to have a slightly larger selection.

I've been going to this place for a while now, and they have yet to disappoint me. I would say this place is right up there with any of the Yankee Spirits locations (I've been to most of them).
First off, they have pretty much any beer you could be looking for, whether it be Beligan, German or a nice domestic microbrew. If they don't have it, you can ask and they will do anything in their power to acquire it (I got a few rare ones this way, Brooklyn Black Ops, etc.).Therefore, the service is excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable, they've always let me know when new stuff is in. The store is huge (former supermarket, or at least it looks like it), clean and well lit. Prices are very competitive. They have a frequent beer buyer card, where if you buy 10 6 packs of microbrews, you get 4 bucks off your next six pack, which is great because I seem to go there alot. They always have cool events, breweries will visit and have tastings, stuff like that.
Without a doubt, the best liquour store on the South Coast.
