Wegman's is a flourishing and highly lauded grocery store chain, and for good reasons. The beer selection at the Corning location is enormous, easily four to five times better than any other competing grocery chain in terms of diversity and quality. Prices are fair, they are kept well organized, and freshness dates are generally well minded.

In the Finger Lakes for a few days, staying just across the 22 Ton Bridge.

Atmosphere: A typical Wegmans, the Market Café is always a highlight. The beer section occupies a quarter of an aisle near the dairy section in the middle-rear section. The aisle has bottles and six packs, the coolers nearby having more of a macro focus.

Quality: The beer aisle is marked with local and non-local US craft, Belgians, and English ales. Laid out nicely and clean too.

Service: I didn't seek out any service, nor was any afforded to me. This is, to be fair, the type of place that I prefer to shop in solitude.

Selection: A good selection, the local brews specifically are plentiful. Ellicotville was all over the place, Cortland too. Ommegang and Southern Tier also have plenty of shelf space. Belgians include Chimay and Lindemans. Of the two Wegmans on this trip, Ithaca has a better selection.

Food: The market cafe is always a highlight but I didn't eat. Plenty of food is available but I didn't notice if, like Pennsylvania, you can open the bottles on premises.

I have never seen such an extensive beer selection in a grocery store, ever. Its crazy and you won't believe it untill you see it. They have local NY brews, European including belgian, and they get the seasonals in there pretty quick.

You should be able to find what you want in there because its a wide selection for a grocery store.

I like the Maredsous 10. I can't believe they have it but they do. They have some Japanese beers too, but nothing super impressive in the Asian department. You can get regular old cheap beer here too.

The Corning Wegmans has recently retooled its beer selection much to the delight of local beer drinkers. They have a nice selection of beers from Across America as well as imports from both EMEA and AP. I was also delighted to find out that, when possible, Wegmans will get in beers requested by customers. Case in point, when they first changed their setup there were no beers from the Allagash brewery out of Maine. I requested this from the grocery manager and within a few weeks I was able to purchase both the Wit and the Dubbel (my personal favorite daily beer). The establishment does not have the range of choice of a full blown distributor, but for a chain in our area to have anything close to this selection is unheard of. I do think that a link on the local site to the listing of beers that are currently available would make it better but beggars can't be choosers either. Overall, its not a mom and pop establishment of which I would prefer (like Fingerlakes Beverage in Ithaca, NY) but for beer in and around Corning its probably one of your better bets.
