Easy enough to get to from I-81 and Route 309 (two and a half miles from 309). Simply Homebrew has just about everything you are looking for for beer making, winemaking, and even a nice variety of supplies for making your own meads, ciders and homemade sodas. Yeast, malt, hops, extract kits, and brewing equipment are all here to get you started and keep you brewing. They don't stock every item you could possibly imagine, but the owner is knowledgeable and helpful and will try to special order anything you are seeking that he does not have on hand in the shop. Also, their prices are reasonable. Stop in if you are in the area and check them out.

I spent National Home Brew DAy at Simply Home Brew, in Drums, PA (Just outside of Hazelton). The good folks there were brewing up three different kinds of beer using different methods: brew-in-a bag, conventional all-grain, and tri-decoction. I traveled from New York to learn Mike's tri-decoction method for pilsner using under-modified floor malt, and learned a lot from sitting at his knee for the day. Actually, it will probably take a couple of years just to digest it all. I'm going to start using his method this summer when I have some free time away from wife and family.

Simply Home Brew is a great store with everything you could ask for. There is ample space for tons of equipment and supplies, and Pete and the rest of the staff are helpful and accommodating. There was a steady flow of customers and visitors to the shop yesterday, many of whom expressed an interest in learning how to home brew, and walked away with kits and other equipment. Hot dogs and sausages were on the grill as the brewers discussed their beers and offered samples. A reporter and photographer were on hand as there will be an article in today's local paper.

I plan to stop here again as it is conveniently located just 5 minutes off Rt. 80 about an hour from the Delaware Water Gap, and I would pass through this area about 4-5 times a year on my way to visit family. In you're ever in the NE PA and Poconos area you should check them out:

I live near Wilkes-Barre, but travel here because they have great service and are very helpful. I love chatting with the owner even though he is more of a wine maker. They have a very good selection for the area and it's a good place for a homebrewer to get started rather than just relying on Internet videos and suppliers. They also have an annual homebrew day where they have many classes and examples of homebrewing, which was immensely helpful to me in getting started.

This is definitely the go to place in the Hazleton and surrounding areas for Homebrew supplies. Service is great, prices are reasonable, they have pretty much everything you need for home brewing, winemaking, soda making, etc. if your a homebrewers this is definitely a place you need to check out. It is nestled in Drums PA about 2 miles from I80 on St Johns road. This place has a great country atmosphere and there are usually always samples of customers homemade brews and wines being handed out.

Very easy to get to. very clean and well maitained store.
Owner is very polite and helpful and always glad to answer any questions.

Store is limited on space but Pete is always happy to special order anything you need.

Prices are resonable. lets face it the owner's gotta make a buck or he wouldnt be there.
great selection on wine making supplies.

during last fall store had a very informative seminar for anyone interested in begining to homebrew or make wine. store owner provided food for everyone who came. Great time. Wish he would do it again. (maybe all-grain this time)

Glad to be a customer of his.

Cheers. Brew on.

The shop is on the smallish side but its selection of brewing products is good and getting better all the time. For example, there is a fantastic selection of hops including hard to get varieties that I don't see very often. Similarly, the grain selections are extensive and while only smaller quantities are available as we speak, the owner is soon going to be selling sacks/larger quantities of grain for all-grain brewers. Both hops and grains appear to be fresh. All the basic homebrewing equipment is in stock and a little more advanced equipment is in stock and coming into stock. The owner has told me that he'll get me anything I want if he doesn't have it--so that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

Service is excellent. Recently I had need of some hops on short notice and the owner stayed open for me longer than normal hours so that I could get them at my convenience. You don't see that sort of service every day!

Prices are good with some items being great values and others being a bit high. Overall very reasonable though.

Simply Homebrew caters to both brewers and vintners about equally.

Simply Homebrew has recently (maybe within the last year?) come under new ownership and what was once a good homebrew shop is rapidly become much better. For example, the new owner had a Learn to Homebrew (and wine-making) day last month and he brought in a professional brewer to show people ``the ropes'' of how to do a basic brew using a beer kit.

Said simply: Simply Homebrew has become my go-to brewing supply shop, hands-down.
