Waaay deep in the south end is a funny little mom-and-pop store that is making a good stab at supporting local and regional craft beer and microbreweries and deserves to be commended and supported for it.

Selection is very limited - you want Belgians or English beer, you have to go further afield - but a significant section of his tiny walk-in cooler is devoted to small breweries, including a nearly full selection of Big Rock and Wild Rose of course, lots of the excellent Tree brewery including their harder-to-come-by Spy Porter, and some more surprising selections such as Half Pints, Amber's, Pump House, and a couple oddball US picks including Fish Tales. They had massive stock of the current Wild Rose and Tree seasonals and were plugging them hard. Unibroue was represented by a "character 8-pack."

Service was hands-off until I asked a question, then it was full-on. This is the way I like it, actually. Troy, the manager, is an affable and enthusiastic fellow who responds to customer recommendations and maintains an email list to notify customers of new beer releases. Prices are very much on par.

Hopefully the word will get around and they'll be able to expand their selection as their customer base grows. The low "selection" score above represents this - it's not that their selection is terrible when compared to other stores of their kind (you can't even get listed on BA unless you're carrying worthy product) but that there's room for improvement here. I'd like to see a little more in the way of higher-end and bigger beers here, but I live in another part of town and am working on (working over?) my own local liquor store. Beer lovers south of Canyon Meadows have a hidden gem in their neighbourhood.

EDIT: More selection being added all the time. New additions include Tin Whistle, Yukon, and some Shmaltz. Remember to check the coolers by the entrance for bombers - they're kind of hidden.
