on-tap @ Belmont Station.

Pale, golden yellow with a thick, foamy white head, nice lacing.

Grassy, lightly floral, with a crackery malt backbone.

Medium bodied with a crisp, clean finish.

A very nice, easy drinking pilsner. Nothing particularly outstanding, but just very well done overall.

on-tap, Baileys

from notes

The forum love this beer gets is a little played out, but I do enjoy a well crafted pils and this definitely fits the bill. Clean, light and a zippy hop profile make this an attractive option in the hoppy-pils sub-category. They should probably bottle this.

Pint at "b2" taphouse in Salem. $3.00 Simple yellow lager beer with a largish frothy purest white head. Good fresh grassy hop aromas, malt is caramel, bready, nutty Taste is very refreshing zingy, grassy, fruity hop predominates..very light tasing but far from boring . Good palate for the style went down well enough. Good simple lager would have been even better in high summer.

On tap.

A: Straw color, lacking in head. Lots of bubbles.

N: Ample pilsner malt and hint of hops. A touch of musty grape.

T: Leans towards the bitter with a light touch of sweetness.

M: Full mouthfeel.

O: Not as refreshing or interesting as Heater Allen, but very clean and good for a hoppier crossover in the style. This batch might have been out of touch with previous ones, too.

On tap at the source.

A crystal clear straw yellow with a dense white head that falls off leaving some lace. The nose is excellent. Big, pungent hop nose with straw pils malt aroma, there's lemon, earth mint and mineral notes. The malt character is mildly doughy, dusty and works really well its the hop and mineral character. The palate opens bitter, earthy, and with a pronounced green hop character, reminiscent of the wurzburger pils. Pleasing, refreshing bitterness with a doughy and mild cotton candy like malt flavor. Drying mildly resiny on the finish, there's lemon, earth and mint. Light in body and moderately carbonated with the mineral character pairing well with the hop and carbonation. Excellent.

Poured from tap. Pristine and clear straw color with a small head.

Balanced with clear aromas of grains, citrus and some crackers. Lacking some "pop" to it, but very correct

Nice crisp and light feel. Balanced with fresh notes of grains, noble hops, and a touch of citrus.

A quality pilsner. Nice and crisp with everything being in the right place.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a clear light yellow with an off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and slight citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with a slight bitterness after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is pretty good beer that I am glad I got to try but not something I would go for again most likely.

On tap at the Parkway tavern the other day. Listed simply as the Upright pilsner, but with a $2 upcharge from the normal $4 price tag (so $6 a glass, making it just about the most expensive beer on the menu).

The beer pours a pale gold color with good head retention and decent lacing. The nose is quite attractive and complex, as I picked up light honey, dry citrus, something of a rye aroma, biscuit and bread dough. As good as this beer smells, it tasted even better, with a considerable hop wallop in the finish (the finish in this excellent pils was crisp, dry and quite bitter). The beer is a bit weighty and substantial on the palate, leading me to believe I was drinking a higher abv. beer then was apparent from the 5.5% listing. In any event, suffice it to say that this beer was anything but watery, delivering a considerable amount of pilsner flavor on the palate. The finish was long and satisfyingly bitter.

An absolutely excellent pils, and one of the best domestic versions I can recall ever having. Given a choice between this beer and the excellent Wurzburger draft pils, I'm not entirely sure I'd take the Wurzburger. That's how good this beer is.

Had this one on tap at the Hawthorne Hophouse on 9/1/11

Appearance: Pours a hazy straw yellow with a 1 finger white crown that displays moderate retention and lace.

Smell: Slightly soapy lager yeast with a nice herbal hop bite.

Taste: Same as the nose with a bigger hop bite and a small citrus note. A dash of bubblegum really rounds out the flavor nicely. I'd give it a 4.2 if I could so I'm rounding down a bit.

Mouthfeel: Medium boided with nice crisp carbonation.

Drinkability: Sessionable.

On tap at Grain & Gristle in a shaker pint. Light hazy gold capped with 2 fingers of fairly tenacious white foam. Good lacing.

Smells largely of baking bread and spicy hops with some light honeyish sweetness. It's a little sweeter and fruitier than I anticpated, but the power of the hops won't be denied. Scathingly bitter with a load of spicy noble hop goodness. Seriously and impressively hoppy with a drying finish. An easy recommendation here.

Had this dry hopped for the Single Hop Festival in early June in Portland. The Tettnanger hops shone through the beer so that it was a wonderful clean pils with a huge hop nose and taste. Seems like Upright can do no wrong with Saisons, Stouts , wheat beers and now lagers. Great beer that I wish was bottled

The latest corny on my home system, picked up at the brewery over the weekend. This is the second batch of pilsener brewed, which used hallertauer hops and a single pilsener malt. Pours a light golden color, almost white, with a very slight haziness. A large, foamy head with nice structure that leaves some pretty lacing on the glass.
Aroma is primarily citrusy hops and light, bready malt, not unlike buttered toast. A hint of peach and just a touch of astringency are detectable. Palate is well-balanced, with sweet, bready malt and tangy, bitter, citrusy hops. Lively carbonation on the swallow yields to a nice, mellow bitterness that lingers for a little while. A greatly refreshing summer brew, I could drink this all day long.
