Thanks, Brian. 2013 release, bottle 55 of 57.

Pouring a clear deep blood red with a dense but short lived off-white head. The nose is gorgeously funky with a pronounced mushroomy funk, a little bit of musty, dusty basements, and a moderate lactic funk. Some lemony Sourness is also pronounced. Surprisingly, there's a bright, fruity vinous character, Moderately jammy even. Some sweetness, fruity and honey like is present.

The palate is reminiscent of fresh Consecration - and that's a good thing. Very vinous and rather fruity with cherries, raspberries, a mild tropical fruit note, not unlike pineapples and some honey, along with a sweetness that brings to mind caramelized rye. The rye base is present, lending a foil to the sweetness. Sourness is moderate, with a nice blend of lactic and citrus sourness; a blend of yogurt and preserved lemons. The fruitiness and vinous character does obscure the funk, which is delicate and awesome. Mushroom, petrichor, a little bit of musty basement all make for an excellent funky palate. The honey sweetness lingers in the finished, amplified by the fruity notes. Medium light in body and moderately carbonated, this beer has a long, dry finish that's juicy and moderately funky, with a blend of preserved lemons, yogurt and cherries. Super yummy.

Labeled as "Fifth and Final Round." Another of my favorite soul comps. Though aged in oak, the combination of rye in the base and wood make it almost seem as if it's seen a bourbon barrel and / or red wine barrel. Beautifully spicy, tart, oaky ... comes together in a way that is more than the sum of its parts.

Bottle #129/174, Shared by Matt. Served in a taster pint glass.

A - Off-white foam settles to a thin collar, wisps, and specks of lace. Hazy orange-brown body.

S - This smelled a lot like Crooked Stave Batch #1; lots of oak, cherry, graham crackery malts, and light vinegar. Gets sweeter as it warms up, with more cherry pie and only mild acidity.

T - The taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Cherry pie, although a tad less sweet than the aroma. The rye from the base beer shows through imparting a note of dark bread and grains. Mild spicy oak and moderate pucker in the finish

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, a tad watery, and surprisingly acidic considering how sweet it is. No discernible alcohol.

D - Solid stuff, but perhaps the most 'generic' American Wild Ale out of the Upright's we tried at Todd's birthday party. I enjoyed it, but there are a lot of similar beers that are easier to track down. Nice variant on Six that I'd gladly drink again.
