I was in Atlanta on business for a week and stopped by Hop City to see what they are about. They are right right next to a geeky coffee place and Five Seasons Brewing Co. I parked on the street right outside. It is a great place to park since you will likely be carrying at least one case of beer out to your car like I did.

I was there on a Tuesday afternoon. There were no other customers. The guy at the desk welcomed me and asked me if I needed any suggestions. "Nope, just enjoying the view right now." What a view. For being a smaller beer/wine/homebrew store they make every square foot count. Half is beer and the other half wine.

I wondered the four aisles of beer that were divided up by style. They also have a long cooler for beer ready to drink and a Belgian beer corner. I grabbed some old favorites that were well priced compared to where I live. Then I asked for some advise on the new Fresh Hop beers and got it. Perfect service. I hate being bothered while I am looking around. If I want help I will ask for it... and this place was exactly like that.

I cannot compare it to other Atlanta beer stores since I have not visited any others, but considering the size of the store they pack a great variety of beers in there. They had breweries from all over the U.S., a decent selection of Belgian beers and then a small selection of Norwegian, Danish, Russian, German and other international beers.

It made me wish I lived nearby by to make this my local beer store. The only other place that tops it in my book is John's Marketplace in Portland. (1,568 characters)

I found this place on this website as I was commit to Atlanta for a business conference and I loved it. Very large craft beer as well as a wine selection. I told one of the guys working there that I was a BA and he took me around the store helping me pick out some really good local beers. I had to take Uber to get there from my downtown hotel but it was well worth the trip (375 characters)

Absolutely great place! I stopped here on the way to Florida, and I'm really glad I did. The selection is GREAT. I've only been to one other place that rivaled the inventory of this one! (186 characters)

I was a bit skeptical about this place. I've been to too many disappointing "world-class" shops, but this place is legitimately world class.

It's a wine and bier store, and both are given a great focus. Everything is arranged by styles.

Knowing nothing of the SE brewing scene, I asked for some suggestions. I ended up having a really awesome conversation about brewing and bier while I was given a tour of all the offerings from local breweries. Fantastic knowledge, and a great attitude; openly admitting when they were expressing a personal preference, and really trying to zero in on the types of things I would be interested in (as opposed to simply what is popular). An absolutely excellent guy.

The selection, meanwhile, was very, very impressive. I could be kept busy here for months!

AND, they let you make a split 6-pack out of anything you want!
I got a 6'er of all my suggestions, and they have been all on target.

If you're in the Atlanta area, this is a must if you can bring bottles back, or you have time to sit down and drink a few. (1,060 characters)

I've been to MANY bottle shops in my days, but Hop City might be the best of them all. This place is absolutely HUGE!!! Everything is divided by beer style so it makes it easy to find what you're looking for. All of the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. Aside from the huge selection of bottles, they have a growler fill station, and a large home brewing section. I will definitely be stopping by here again when I'm in the area. (445 characters)

Great selection, but hard to find specific beers. The staff person who tried to help seemed to be not up to date on what they had (130 characters)

The largest growler station I know of, a large and strong selection of both domestic and import craft beers, and a knowledgable staff make this a stellar beer store. (165 characters)
