A: Pours a really dark brown with a small light brown head.

S: Malt, grass, rye, vanilla, and citric hops in the nose.

T: Rye, bitter citrus peel, hoppyness and vanilla. Extremely pleasant.

M: Medium bodied, not the smoothest beer, nor the harshest.

O: Definitely recommended. I love the combination of rye spiciness and vanilla. A rye-barrel-aged version of this would likely be fantastic.

Poured into a Chuckanut pint glass. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a fine, rich two finger vanilla colored head (looks just like a vanilla milkshake). Aroma is strong caramel malt, rye, cherries, faint hops, inviting. Flavor is caramel malt, yeasty rye bread, dark dried fruit, more muted than the aroma. Finishes with pleasant light caramel malt, rye and light grassy hops. Medium bodied with a light creaminess. A quite nice rye ale that also has the light fruitiness of a red ale, they make a good combination. Flavor is a bit laid back and is balanced enough and tasty enough I wish it was bit more aggressive. Looks and feels good, flavor is light but enjoyable. I'd buy this again.

Bottle I brought to share at drewone's tasting.

Pours a clear orange-brown with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thick swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, spicy rye, and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with malt and rye flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a rye presence that is slightly better in the aroma.

super dark red. no head.
smell is amateurish. sweet, but unrefined. something i'd expect from my neighbor's hobby.
taste is the same. not refined. decent, but in a sense of the neighbor, again. BA has nothing higher than a 4 in their line up. geez.... quick look at my receipt--- I paid $5.75 for this crap!!!! goddamn O'Shea's....
alright, well since i'm now officially on a rant for having THREE INFERIOR BREWS FROM O'SHEA's i'm gonna continue.... that little short guy SERIOUSLY needs a vacation or SOMETHING cuz he's all frickin' wound tight. put out over $100 in inferior beer and he STILL limits me to ONE STINKIN' PLINY... AND I traveled over 45 miles to get there???? whatever. sayonara MFrrrr.
this brew SUCKED. and so did the guy who sold it to me....
oh well. no hard feelings, right?
