On tap in a pint glass.
A- Opaque dark brown/black color with a thick mocha colored head that tapers to a film. Not much lacing. A very good looking brew.
S-Roasted dark malts, strong roasted dark coffee, dark chocolate. Can darkness be a smell?!?
T- Lots of dark roasted malt and dark roasted coffee, very strong coffee. Dark bitter choolate flavor, too. The roasting is pushed to the max, just shy of burnt.
M-Crisp, solid feel. Lots of carbonation. Plenty of body and lasting flavors.
O- This beer screams dark roasting and strong coffee working together well.

I am still not 100% sure on how to rate porters, especially with the newer black IPA style. Before getting into the review, in my mind, this tends towards a black IPA.
A: it was a darker bar I tried this in, but pretty black with decent foamy head on the sides, returning in force with a swirl. Slight lack of lacing.
S: sorry for lack of detail here, but... black IPA
T: lack of malt depth, but not so much so to be out of balance with the hops. A roasty, unsweet, coffee-bitter type beer that doesn't offend.
M: just a little light, I think. Carbonation is good, though.
O: I think I produced a comparable beer in feel, maybe close in taste. Granted, I was shooting for a stout.

We finally put down the hops and gave the malt a chance, and quite successfully! This complex beer shows it's depths in many aspects. The scent is anywhere from molasses to oats to coffee, and keep you coming back for another sift of this loaded brews nose "palette"? (More sweet than smoking imo.) The flavor follows the same pattern, melding into a very solid and singular flavor which you would never guess to be 7 malts if blindfolded! The complexity of the multi-malt combination is there, but doesn't tend to linger, giving you a full impression of it's well encompassed flavor. Incredibly drinkable and it's finish is gone just as fast as they came unfortunately... Sooo another round?
